I was on my way to work yesterday driving on the free way in a rural area when a 40 or so pound dog bolts out into the freeway. It was dark and i saw it when it struck my car behind the driver's side front wheel. It jolted my car as it went under my back tire. Since i was going the speed limit (70mph) i was able to roll to the next off ramp. I stopped the car and turned off the engine so i can check out the damage. Nothing on the body of the car was damaged, but warning lights came on. The traction symbol, the electrical symbol, and the check engine light. When i tried to turn the car back on, it turned on right away, but the RPM's shot up to 3000 while on idle. Did that a few times before i called the tow truck to tow it back home. I need to start trouble shooting but figured i would ask for ideas as to what could have been damaged. The week before, i added an transmission oil cooler and the car was running good all week. I haven't checked but i hope that the hit didn't loosen the cooler or lines.

Figured it out. I thought the dog hit behind the front tire. Nope. It went under the front of the front tire and managed to dislodge some cables and connections. Went in and reconnected everything that needed connecting and the majority of the earnings went away. Three only ones remaining arw the traction and abs. I'm going to reset the computer tonight and see if that clears the code and hope that it doesn't come back.
