Calling Los Angeles-based car shoppers: Have you recently traded in (or plan to trade in) a car with negative equity (i.e. the amount you owe on your auto loan is greater than the car's value)? A reporter would like to speak with you; please reach out to PR@Edmunds.com by 11/6 for details.

How would you rate the condition of these tires?

Looking at buying a new truck (2017 ford f150) and this is a pic of the tires. Are these in good enough shape to buy? Do they look like they'll need replacing soon?

Appreciate the help.

First, DO NOT ask to have the tires replaced. Do it yourself. That way you'll get what YOU want, not what the sellers wants (as in "Cheap!")

Second, those tires have plenty of tread left (8/32nds), but are a little chewed up.

Third, negotiate the best price you can. Use the condition of the tires as leverage to get a better price, not to get the current owner to replace them.

Really appreciate the feedback. This is a carmax purchase so don't think they allow negotiating?? Do you think they are chewed up to a point that they will more likely give me issues or need replacing soon?

Supposed to have a call with Carmax in a few minutes. Any info on how much trouble the chewed up nature of the tires would help a ton. Appreciate it.

No, they aren't very bad - certainly not worth replacing at this point.
