Is Total Auto Protect a good extended car warranty company?

I found this company called Total Auto Protect through my dealership that offered me an extended warranty plan for my 2012 Porsche 911 has anyone has any experience with them. So far I've found great reviews on Top 10 Auto Warranty Companies. It seems they have been around since around 2004 and have excellent reviews.

My 2012 Porsche CPO Warranty expired a few years after I bought it. I have had to repair it on my own the last few times and don't want to pay out of pocket for these types of repairs. They said I can take it to any Porsche dealer or certified mechanic and my dealer said they accept it. The sales representative at the company is supposed to call me back on Friday and I'm just looking to review all my options. I'm really tired of paying for repairs on my own.

Heres the links I reviewed. Any advice is greatly appreciated, Let me know what you think.

You are betting that your car will break and need a repair, they are betting that it won't. Even then that's an "additional mouth to feed" when it comes to paying for a repair should one occur which really means that it has to cost the average consumer more in the long run. I don't advise anyone to get one of these "insurance policies" (they really are not a warranty). If you have the money for this, put it into stocks or some type of investment so that you have it if something does need to be repaired in the future. If nothing ever breaks, you end up way ahead.

Great point! My friend David has had this one for years and he swears by them. He told me he only paid around $1,700.00 for a 4-year plan and so far they paid more than the 1,700 he paid them for repairs. I'm thinking its a good idea to give it shot.

There are literally dozens of complaints from past customers who canceled their service early for various reasons, only to have this company refuse to pay the refund. I am one such customer. I canceled in February of 2024. After numerous phone calls and countless empty promises I received no results. They even lied and said it should have been returned to my original payment method. After which I was promised a check in the mail. I was placed on hold and left there for 15-20 minutes at a time, repeatedly, passed from department to department, and ultimately hung up on.

Despite writing a letter to make them aware of my intentions, I received no response. I was subsequently forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and to this day, I have yet to receive any resolution or even a phone call. I fear I will have no other choice but to sue this company in small claims court to retrieve my almost $3000.

I do not recommend this company to anyone. Their behavior is unscrupulous and far from professional. I dread to think what would happen if you actually had to make a claim.
