new blower motor resister messing up heater?

I replaced my blower motor resister with an after market part now my heater only blows hot air,is it my actuater again or is it possibly the new part? thanks in advance

The blower motor resistor only affects the blower speeds.

So not being able to change the temperature would be the blend door(s) actuator(s). I put plurals in case someone has dual temp controls.

You should be able to verify by having the key ON where the blower controls are operational, and looking at the blend door actuator. It sounds like you've replaced it before, so you may know the drill.

I'd recommend getting a quality brand for the actuator such as from rockauto.com and their offerings of brands.

Whether this is a "manual" or an "automatic" system, diagnostics with both of them start with a capable scan tool. While the automatic system has the driver choose a temperature based on a numerical setting, the manual system works very much the same way except for choosing the temperature which is simply a warmer or cooler setting based on the occupant's perception. Both systems rely on in car sensors in order to detect the interior temperature and try to achieve a balance. A scan tool would allow you to see what the interior temperature is being reported at and you could see where the blend doors are both commanded to and where they are presently reported to be at. The scan tool can also make commands to the actuators to see if they can be operated separately from the controller. There is also an initialization routine that can be performed with the scan tool that might restore operation.

the problem ended up being the post (I can to 't think of another way to describe it)that is attached to the doors that the actuator spins was broken and I had screwed and glued it (epoxy) 2 yrs ago had come loose. thank you all for your advice
