Is Total Auto Protect extended car warranty good for my 2016 Audi A4

Hello,

I looking for a warranty for my Audi and i find this company called Total Auto Protect. The salemen called and offered me total coverage warranty plan for my 2016 Audi A4 with 42,129 miles. I want to know if has anyone has any good or bad experience with them. I looked at some reviews are good reviews i dont see any bad my plan from audi expired soon after we buy it. I dont want to pay to repair because its exspensive car. They tell me to can take it to any mechanic i want to. maybe somebody here can give me some advice its cost alot of money

In general, 3rd party warranties are a bit of a crap shoot - large premiums, big co-pays and not nearly enough coverage.

Agreed. There may be some OK ones but there have been a lot of ones with bad practices or going out of business.

Better to shop around for an Audi official plan, even if it costs more. Look at some marque specific fan sites, there are usually dealers there selling pretty cheap.

And a good rule of thumb, if you can’t afford repairs, not a good idea to buy a Euro car out of warranty.

I can't help here, as my philosophy is you are almost always better off putting the money you'd waste on a "warranty extension/upgrade" in an interest-bearing account, and chances are, it'll never be fully depleted, possibly not even used at all! If you do use all of it; at least you have "X" years of interest earned.

With any warranty it pays to check the “exclusions” page. This will tell you what they don’t cover. The word “total” coverage is meaningless. When I’ve been tempted to buy a car warranty checking the exclusions is the first thing I do. You’d be surprised at what isn’t included.

Also check what actions you have to take to maintain the warranty. Some, like taking your car to a far off inspection station on a yearly basis, might make a claim impossible.

they also get to decide if the repair gets excluded for any vague reason, such as a non covered part failing leading to a bigger failure of a normally covered part, so no payout.
