Headlight assembly

Hello all. So my daughter's 2004 beetle convertible has been a complete nightmare. Constant repairs etc. The latest is a bad headlight. Finally something I can fix right? Not so fast. I pulled the assembly and the part seems to only available from Europe for over $750? The difference seems to be it has a 9 pin harness while pretty much every other beetle no matter what the model or type or whatever has 3 pins. Is there a way to rewire one of these harnesses or am I just completely out of luck? Any help would be appreciated.
