Porsche 911 ‘05 radio and speakers

I have the original radio and speakers on my 911. Sound will increase and decrease on its own and I can not control the volume on the knob. Speakers don’t sound great, but I don’t expect booming music either. Would like to at least hear decent sounding music when I drive. Before I take it the the stereo shop, any ideas what it can be? Should I replace the system?

Hello

Sound like the audio headunit is going bad & in need of replacement. Most factory audio units have the amplifier built into the head unit and do go bad from heat/poor quality..
