Greetings all! I have been doing a lot of research recently regarding starting a new lease. I currently lease my current vehicle, which ends this month. I did not know much as much as I do now but there are still some things im looking to learn. I plan to lease a grand cherokke next but want to be even more prepared than before. How does knowing the MF and RV numbers help before dealing with a dealer and how should it be used in a negotiation?

The RV is fixed by the bank, and the dealer cannot change it.

The MF, on the other hand, can be marked up by the dealer for extra profit.

Knowing these numbers, and how they are used to calculate a lease payment, puts you on a level playing field with the dealer, who would prefer you not know those numbers.
