I'm looking in each area, but I live in 60601 so not sure how that all plays out with leasing.

Also curious if 2022 loaners/demos have any particular differences/things of note for MF/RV.

I am looking at the 2022 v60 recharge but the local dealer is saying that Volvo is not offering the federal tax rebate for a leased vehicle. Does anyone have any information on why this would be? The dealer said they are focusing on the full electric cars for the rebate?

The bank owns the car, so they get the tax incentives. Up to them to pass that along to the customer, and Volvo is choosing not to do that.

Sounds like a shady dealer, honestly. I just called VCFS (current leaseholder) and they confirmed that VCFS honors the federal tax credit, regardless if an EV or PHEV, so long as it’s included in the negotiated contract sent to them from the dealer.

@dommydom33 The volvo dealer is saying that it is not a rebate they have access to and then they changed their answer to say that this is included in the residual value or in the money factor when leasing. Both of which I do not buy but if they wont include it off the lease price, I'm not going to purchase it. I'll go get an Audi Q5e where they take it right off the MSRP.

Just got back from Dealer (Secor Volvo, New London CT). Got negotiated price using December rates in writing and gave $500 refundable deposit to acquire allocation. Additional $2,000 non-refundable deposit will be required to finalize Polestar factory build (will use $2,500 as down payment). They quoted me $748/month for 36/12 lease, $2,500 down “out the door”, all taxes/fees/first month rolled in. This includes $4,700 “lease cash” (tax credit), $500 loyalty, and $500 employer/fleet affiliation. Will likely have equity on current lease trade-in, so additional moneys off will be likely. Hoping to get payment down closer to $700. Some marking up, but reasonable deal considering the market.

A sales rep sent me this picture today of their December 2021 promotions which it does not include any lease cash for any recharge models except for the C40 and XC40 recharge. Volvo is probably keeping the federal rebate themselves. Won't be buying a Volvo with this being the case.

If you buy the Volvo, you can get the Federal Tax Credit. It's only a lease that you lose out.

Ultimately, it’s up to the dealer if they want to make a sale that isn’t excessively one-sided, regardless of how they manipulate the incentives. For instance, https://www.volvocars.com/us/v/offers/v60/ shows a V60 Recharge offer ($68,395 MSRP) for $619/month (depreciation and interest only) with $4,100 due at signing. If you back calculate that deal with 64% (36mo/12K) residual and buy-rate money factor (0.00106), I get ~$2,300 in assumed incentives/discount. In my scenario, considering a $69,290 MSRP and only $2,500 down, my dealer is comparably providing an additional ~$1,850 in savings ($4,150 total) before even factoring in likely equity on lease trade. Update from dealer! Got approved for one of TWELVE 2022 V60 Polestar build slots allocated for the entire US market. Delivery likely late Q2 this year. Triple cell battery, new electric motor, and Google infotainment! Putting remaining deposit down tomorrow, very excited!
