Air conditioning repair
I recently had my car taken in for repair because the compressor cracked and I could smell the refrigerant very strongly when I turned the AC on.
Now the mechanic is telling me that the compressor is replaced but there is still a smell coming from the vents. They state that this is just a residual smell and it will not hurt anyone.
This doesn't feel right to me because refrigerant is a gas. If the leak is fixed there should be no smell right? Wouldn't the refrigerant have dissipated immediately?
I asked them how they know if it is fixed and they state that they did a pressure test.
Any help or information is greatly appreciated. I have a young child in this car and I do not want them exposed to more refrigerant.
