2018 Jetta SE (undercarriage question)

Hi. Bought my car from a VW dealer about a month ago. It had less than 9000 miles on it. I later had the undercarriage looked at for potential damage (should've done it before purchasing). Is it common for this trim/year to have some type of seam seal on the undercarriage (below where the spare tire is stored)? I've attached a photo. I've looked at some other year/trim Jettas (can't find another like mine locally) and have seen nothing like this. The dealership has been 100% unhelpful post-sale. Thanks for your feedback.
