Rear Hatch Won't Open

We had the back windshield of our 2107 Grand Voyager shatter. After getting the window replaced, we realized that our back hatch will not open. The same thing occurs whether we open it by key fob, front panel button, or manually. It will start to open but barely gets 1/4 of an inch, if that, and then immediately shuts. Is there a sensor near the window that might have been damaged? We do not know for sure if it happened before the shattering or just after the repair.

Added info: It is an automatic mechanism that is causing the closing right after it unlatches.
