Which leaves about $800 unaccounted for - markup on the MF? Being charged over sticker?

Yes, there is some guesswork in my numbers, but I'd dig into the delta with the dealer.

The lease payment will be dependent on the discount from MSRP you negotiate with the dealer.

Be advised, that in Texas you pay sales tax on the entire selling price of the car, even if you lease. Makes leasing very unattractive. You may want to look at a purchase.

No, that's the value of the car after the lease is over. You're paying for the 38% depreciation

Thanks so much!!! That’s what I thought. I called a dealership and the sales person explained it backwards. I think he was just mistaken.

And, I wouldn't trust a sales person to explain anything finance related to me. That's why dealerships employ finance managers.
