Opinion on 2013 Murano used car
I am trying to buy a used car/SUV for my teen son and found this 2013 murano . I test drove and and did well. Plan to keep for 5 years. I heard about all these CVT issues. Can someone shed some light on it.
appreciate your help.

You don’t say how many miles are on the one you’re buying but generally they tend to fail between 75-125k miles. Sometime earlier. All CVTs are intolerant of bad maintenance so I would want to see service records that the fluid was changed every 30k miles. When a CVT fails it will start off normally and then after a short time will overheat and start slipping. Make sure you take an extended test drive of at least a half hour.
I’ve driven quite a few and found them comfortable. The 3.5L is a pretty peppy engine with lots of torque which may be why a Murano driven hard could stress the transmission.
Just curious, why would you want a bigger SUV for a teen driver?

Per online records, Vehicle has just aboout 150K miles, No accident, two owners, one fleet usage then auctioned off and then personal usage. Service history does not say anything explicit about transmission oil change, the typical 'oil, filer, lube change). Vehicle is priced decent
Teen will be mostly driving our other sedan for now, so this is more of a parent vehicle.
On the other hand, it’s lasted for 150k miles so somebody must have given it decent maintenance. Can you take it to a shop you trust for a pre purchase inspection?
