Current Value of 2008 4Runner Sport

Hello. I just had a tree fall on my 2008 Toyota 4Runner Sport during an unexpected tornado. This vehicle had 89K miles, was in near perfect condition inside and out. One owner, personal use only, no accidents and full service records showing all recommended service. Since there are literally no 2008 or 2009 4Runner Sports with less than 90K miles within 100 miles of me (actually none in the US right now) insurance is using vehicles that are not comparable... 130 - 160K miles with less than desirable history. Their "adjustment" for mileage is ridiculous.... and additional $600 on a similar vehicle with 145K miles. They said if I could provide comparable vehicles that they would consider them, but there are none to be found. I could not even begin to replace this vehicle with what they want to pay in today's market.

If you have recently purchased a 2008-2009 Toyota 4Runner Sport with mileage under 100K in similar shape, please let me know the details, especially in the mid-atlantic area... PA, MD, VA, NY.

I'd at least like to know how hard to fight this.

Thank you!

That's a tough one. I'm so sorry the 4Runner that you have taken such good care of has been destroyed. Have you tried contacting a local insurance adjuster? You pay them a fee and they fight your insurance company for you. Remember, your insurance company's primary objective is to not pay out anything more than the bare minimum. Have you checked some of the auction sites like bring a trailer or cars and bids to see if any comparable generations of that 4Runner have sold for?

    What is their offer?

Since this is northeast, I’m assuming it is 4wd.

They likely won’t accept this, but here is how Manheim (Cox Automotive) values it. In case you don’t know, this is info compiled from dealer auctions and resulting retail sales. This is info a dealer uses to buy and sell vehicles. Personally, I think this number is absolutely nuts. Insurance should be using retail value, plus tax, FYI.
