Which to buy, Blazer or Jimmy?

I'm in the process of buying my first every SUV!!!! I've ruled out the Explorer because the transmission is junk. The Pathfinder is generally too expensive for the miles same as Toyotas. Honda CRVs are good but I can't find any in my price range which is a max of 6000 (even that is a big stretch). Any suggestions on what to watch out for? Any major concerns with the Blazer or Jimmy? Any help would be great. I'm located in Colorado Springs but am looking towards Denver to buy. Should I buy from a dealer or a private party?

    No diff in mechcanicals - they all have teh 3 button np233 case. Look thru all the common problems and you will have them on a 98 - no question. Hubs, ball joints, clogged heater core, lower intakes all have to be replaced by 100k, oil cooler lines leak, AC compressor goes by 100k, etc so look before you buy. Handle well.
