Buying a '15-'18 Avalon for Mom. Advice?

So glad that I'm finally in a position to get my Mom her first decent car and I've decided on a '15-'18 Avalon. I can spend 10k, and if you're willing to travel some here in the Midwest, you can find one with about 100k-125k miles on it for that price.

First, are these as reliable as the Camrys of the same years? I hear of those Camrys going 300k miles if maintained well.

Second, are there any models, trim packages, or engine configurations, transmissions, etc I should either stay away from or look for in that year range?

If these are as reliable as the Camrys (which I had been looking into until I was advised to look at the Avalon) you get much more car for dang near the same used car price.

I had two Avalons of earlier generations and they were as reliable as could be. The 15-18 could be had with two powertrains. One is the 2GR V6 which is a very reliable engine with a timing chain instead of a belt. If it were me I'd try and find a V6 model, as they are less complicated than the Hybrid option.

Also the V6 model is pretty quick for a sedan of this size and weight. Buying used of course I'd go for condition above all, but try and find a pretty loaded one so that it feels as new as possible.
