Am I better off turning in lease or letting dealer buy it?

So I called my dealer to discuss turning in my 4xe Wrangler lease. He made comment he may want to buy it. He came back with deal that covers my last payment and disposition fee. Payment is a lot more than my current payment.

I got this verbally over the phone and suspect he was just feeling me out.

Am I better off with a straight turn in and a fresh lease or is dealer trying to build out a lease that covers their loss on a 4xe now that they are taking a hit on resale?

I’ll dig deeper when I see numbers tomorrow, but looking for best strategy here.

Is this dealer trying to sell you another vehicle? There IS NO WAY he wants to buy your 4xe Wrangler. With the stop sales and recalls? Who did you lease through? Stellantis (Chrysler Capital), Ally, or someone else? I’d carefully check the language in the leading contract. You might be better off just making your last payment and paying the disposition fee. Have you had the Jeep’s lease end inspection performed?

That’s why I’m asking the question. I’m well aware of the 4XE status. I have the same skepticism as you do about the dealer wanting to buy it back. Given the scenario I described. I’m trying to figure out if he’s somehow working my turn in into my new lease. Like I said, I haven’t seen any numbers yet. This was verbal over the phone just trying to put together a strategy.

Leasing using Chrysler capital currently. I have one more payment to make.

And yes, the idea is that I would be getting a new vehicle upon turning in my lease.

Next will be “cmon down so we can work out some numbers.” I turned my CCAP leased 4xe in back in March 2025. I believe if you lease another Jeep or Stellantis vehicle they will waive the disposition fee. I’m certain this guy won’t be doing you any favors. What’s your payment?

You really want another Jeep after leasing the 4xe? I loved the Wrangler itself, but the dealership service experience was awful.

My Jeep dealer is excellent, but a large number of Jeep dealers seem to be as bad -or worse- than the Ford and VW dealers in my neck of the woods. I simply will not patronize a dealer that refuses to hire employees with opposable thumbs.
