Detailer scraped paint off near my speedometer
I hired a detailer to detail my car, but they scraped off the paint near my speedometer:

Long story short, he isn't going to rectify it. Is there a DIY method to fix this?
I tried looking online, but most of the information is on how to fix the dashboard cracks or faded areas on the dashboard.
I would love to hear how to fix I can fix this. It was quite unnerving that they damaged my recently acquired car.
Thanks,
Jay

Let me start off by saying this fix is not going to be perfect but keep in mind your car has almost 137K miles on it, so something less than perfect but pretty good has to be acceptable. If not don’t proceed.
Go to the auto parts and get a sheet of 600 or 800 grit sand paper and a can of spray paint as close to your color as possible. Don’t get excited, I’m not going to suggest spray painting inside the car. Read on:
Mask off with blue painters tape the entire top area then lightly sand this area making sure you feather into the existing painted area. What you want to do here is to slightly rough up the area so the paint will have a surface to “bite into”.
Next get out the pant can and spray it onto a piece of heavy paper or card board. Then use a small 1 inch or smaller foam paint brush and apply a few coats of paint from the paper/carboard to the entire sanded area. Be patient and apply a couple thin coats allowing the paint to fully dry between coats. Don’t apply one heavy coat. Like I said, it won’t be perfect but it will look a lot better than the way it is now.
Take a pic or two and let us see how you did.
Good luck.
