Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. We have a 2006 kia sedona and exactly 1 year after we bought it, it started to buck/shake and idle funny. Check engine light came on.
Into the shop- reboot computer.
2 weeks later, same problem. Then 1 month later, then again and again - oh and yet again.
The van has been in the shop 6 times for the same problem. And getting a rental from these people is like pulling teeth. They keep the car for days and weeks at a time but have a hard time giving us a rental.
I'm told No fix - then ohhh wait, we just got the fix. Although that didn't work.
We just hired a lawyer for a lemon law. :lemon:

The dealership has been anything but helpful. We were told right out from the owner- DON'T care, it's not my problem, take it up with Kia.
Nice service, huh???

Anyone else with this problem? And was there a fix?

Thanks

Oh and let me add the other issues we have had- dashboard lights not working, loud noises from engine, lights flash on and off on their own, the engine either slows or races up on it's own. TOO many problems, no fixes and nothing but attitude from the dealership.

There's a TSB posted on HMAService relating to this problem on the Hyundai Entourage (same vehicle as the Sedona). The TSB # is 07-36-007. The description starts with:

    DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin provides the procedure to update the ECM software of some
ENTOURAGE (EP) 3.8L and SANTA FE (CM) 3.3L vehicles which exhibit malfunction
indicator lamp illuminated with DTC P0110, P0128, or P0300.
    - P0110: Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction
    - P0128: Engine Coolant Thermostat Stuck Open
    - P0300: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detecte

    It was issued in September.

If I were you, I'd contact Kia (not the dealer) themselves and make them aware of this TSB and ask them nicely to research the problem.

Also, have your dealer take a look at KIA TSB: KT2006092601 - Sedona (VQ) PCM Reprogram (DTC P0441/P0128) (Engine - 025) (UPDATED 2007-08-16) (This Service Bulletin provides information related to a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) upgrade. Some 2006 Sedona (VQ) vehicles with a 3.8L (6 cylinder) engine built on or before June 12th, 2006 may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) "ON" condition with DTC P0441 (Evap. Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow) and/or DTC P0128 (Engine Coolant Thermostat Open/Stuck) stored in the PCM memory even though no component or circuit related malfunction exists)

Thank you, but they did do the reprogram in Sept. drove it 50 miles, gave the car back to us- 139 miles later same problem. Since then the car is cont. doing it. We have been in contact with Kia countless times, got NO where. Promised to have area rep take over the problem, only to find out he never did. We're not allowed to talk with him.
We give up - hired a lawyer. Can't blame us.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer. ;)

I understand exactly how you feel. I've been having problems with my Sedona's Power Sliding Doors since day one. The dealer was absolutely useless. There may be a fix for the PSD problem now.

Exercise your right to use the the Lemon Law. Good Luck!

Kialemon......the same thing is happening right now to us. Brought the car in 5 times. Said cylinder misfire and replaced coils 3 and 5. Kia 2006 sedona was still acting up. Now they tell me that they reprogramed the computer and it should all be ok.

I am thinking I should just get rid of this car while it is still fixed and be done with kia. I will NEVER purchase another Kia again.
I did contact a lawyer for l :lemon: lemon law, but who knows how long that would take to settle.

This may be too little too late, but here we go. I have the Entourage, bought 6/06. The check engine light first came on at about 1,800 miles. Got home, the owners manual sayz it's a loose gas cap. Go out and undo the cap and re tighten, next day light is off. Finally got it to the dealer for an oil change, tech notices light on and resets computer. 1 week later, comes back on, go to bed, next day light off. Finally at the 1st yrs inspection. They had van for a week. Gave me a rental though. The problem was that at about 2,100 RPM's the enguine would read a misfire. They would download the new information but couldn't get the computer to reset. They had to send computer to California so the engineers could work on it. It's been about 12 months and no check engine light coming on.
