Just purchased an '04 Trailblazer and it only came with 1 key - I know I can probably pay out the nose and get a key thru a dealer since you need a "code" which I don't have but is there any other option? I saw a key blank on Ebay for my year and make but how does that work? Will a locksmith then be able to cut me a key from the blank or will he/she still need the "code" ? Thanks for any info. I also need one for an '03 Olds Bravada for my Mom.

Both of your keys are regular keys and do not contain a chip. There is nothing special about them. Go to any ACE Hardware/or your choice of keymaker and have a key made for $2.00 or so. Ebay is a rip off. The dealer can also make you a key and charge you $10 or so is you want to get ripped off.

I AGREE!!! HAD MY KEYCHAIN STOLEN AT A STORE WHILE I WAS CAMPING.

I STILL HAD THE WARRANTY AND SO GM PAID OUT OVER $800 TO TOW MY TBZ TO A DEALER ONLY TO HAVE THEM SAY "WE DONT HAVE THE RIGHT KEY CUTTER"

SO I WAS TOWED AGAIN TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING BUT CALLED A LOCKSMITH AND HE CUT ONE FOR $6

GM SPENT 800 IN TOWING COSTS JUST TO GET ME A $6 KEY THAT WASNT EVEN A GM KEY

I DID HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER REMOTE WHICH WAS 50 AND THEN SPEND 30 MORE TO PROGRAM IT

MY DODGE NEON NEEDS A KEY CODE BECAUSE IT HAS A CHIP IN THE KEY
    AND THATS A DIFFERENT STORY

I just purchased a Chevy 05 TB in Jan. of 08. Fully loaded. With less than 36,000mi. and paid just under 16,000 for it. And I just signed on to this web site as a new member. And after reading all of the problems that TB owners have been posting, Im wondering If I didn't make a mistake on my purchase. I love my TB. I traded in a 96 Blazer for this, which it had over 150,000mi. Im hoping that I didn't get stuck with a lemon. My 96, I was happy with. Had some work done (mech.) to it, but probably nothing out of the ordinary. My only question is that my recent purchase, came with "XM Radio" and "On-Star"which of course is no longer active. I was wondering If anyone could tell me Is It worth having these 2 (or 1) reactivated? And Im sure its not very cheap. Thank you for any response. :shades:

I don't care for OnStar, but I wouldn't even consider being without XM Radio now that I've had it for several years. It's $142.45 for a year on the 1 year plan. You sign up for multiple years the overall yearly price goes down.

I just purchased a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer EXT LT,and have put almost 5,000 miles on it since 5/14/09 and 5/23/09... Leaving from Bowling Green KY home of the Corvette Plant and Museum... Across and up to, 15 different states going to the Grand Canyon AZ, Las Vegas NV,Hoover Dam,Yellowstone National Park Wyoming, also one other main area before the Grand Canyon Memphis TN Elvis's Graceland... And like I previously stated in a Review on my Trailblazer didn't have any problems at all... Just cruised right along.... When I purchased it had 33,000 now has over 42,000 and knock on wood lol haven't had any problems since purchased it in Nov. 2008... Now back to main reason for post talked to a Service Manager at a Chevy Dealer,he said the cost for Onstar was around $200.00 a year, and that it really was just in case you had a accident the Onstar operator would call for help, and I guess if you call stalled would call for a tow....
