2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS Idling

Hi-

I have a recently purchased 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS Wagon and was wondering what the idle is supposed to be like on this vehicle? I have noticed that when I start the car up in the morning and let it run (to get the engine warm...winter in the northeast) that the car "revs" to around 1.5 RPM's and then drops down to 1 or .5 RPM's. Is this normal for this vehicle? In other words, it's not a steady idle... It doesn't seem extreme in terms of RPM's but I was just wondering as I'm a new Subaru owner...

Thanks for any help!

~Seth

Cold Idle is about 1500 and warm idle is around 700.

So this would be normal for this vehicle then?

    Thanks,

I have an '05 2.5 RS Sedan and I live in Alaska. It has gotten down to -20 so far and my car definitely idles different in that weather. I just let it warm up and it idles fine after that.

Yea, we had a "warm-spell" here last week (temps in the mid-30's) and it did idle a bit more consistently. Letting it warm up first is definitely the way to go.

    Thanks again!
