Jeep Cherokee transmission will not go into park when cold
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport with automatic transmission. I have about 78,000 miles on it.
When it's cold (maybe 20 degrees or less), the transmission will not go into Park. After I have driven a few miles (I assume the fluid has warmed up), it will go into Park. I don't seem to experience any problems with shifting through the gears.
Initially, I checked the fluid and it was a little low but not below the min line. I topped off the fluid and still had the problem. I changed the filter and the fluid around 70,000 miles hoping that I had a clogged filter. I still have the problem. Does anyone have any idea what to check next?
