Chevy S10 - GMC S15 and Sonoma Suspension Issues

Most 4WD S-10 owners know that they go through lower ball joints pretty quick. Does anyone know if this is a problem with the 2WD trucks? I may be forced to downsize from my full-size Jimmy and would rather not buy another 4WD S-10. I live in an area that gets little snow, so I really don't need it. I've had 3 different 4WD S-10 pickups/Blazers and have all been great trucks, except for the lower ball joints, so I'd rather go with 2WD. Any help is appreciated.

My A-frame has broken (again). I recently had the bushings replaced on both sides as well as the bearings and spindle on the driver side. The driver side has broken again so I'm thinking maybe the bushings just weren't installed properly. Does anyone know about how much it should cost me to have it fixed at a repair shop?
