The C320 is N/A with the 6 speed, which also puzzles me. Must be marketing geniuses at work.
I was given a delivery date of the first week of March..however, after reading through these posts I am realistic that the wait may be longer..did anyone here actually get their car on or before projected delivery date? Just curious.

However, the MB salesman in Germany was all happy about their new six-speed. The final drive ratio in sixth gear is still about the same as with the old five, which in essence forces you to shift more often than before. One thing though, the car is "un-mercedes-ly" responsive when you "hit it", a clear benefit of the closer spread of gears.
Why it is not available for any other 6-cylinder car than the SLK beats me, but may be it's only a question of time. OTOH, there is a good chance that this decision is based on:
- marketing reasons (brain eclipse)
- popularity assumptions (forgetting the more active type of buyer)
- boneheadedness (those Germans... ;->)
More after my December trip, where I get to drive a C 200 K rental car. It better not be too snowy then...

I noticed you bought your car from Hoehn in Carlsbad and I am getting ready to buy there as well. My salesman is Chuck Hardy (also Tom Brown) and he seems like a straight shooter.
Has your experience been totally favorable? There are so many MB dealers within an hour that I can easily choose another.
Thanks for the info.
PS-Our trunk still won't open!!!! It doesn't go in until Friday AM, I'll let you know how it goes.
I actually put in two orders (and deposits) for my C320; one at Hoehn in Carlsbad, and the other at MB Of Escondido. Each knew that I had an order at the other place - I was treated courteously and fairly at both places. In the end, I went with the dealer that could provide the car I wanted in a reasonable time. Hoehn did everything they said they would do, and had the car about a month earlier than the Escondido dealer. Subsequent to the sale, Hoehn has been very good about follow-up and service. I have no reason to believe that Escondido MB would be any different. In fact, they recredited my deposit promptly and cheerfully. When I buy my next Mercedes (and I have an eye on the next-generation E-class wagon), I would have no hesitation with dealing with either dealership. While I'm at it, I also talked to MB of San Diego, and although I didn't place an order with them, I think they would have been quite satisfactory also. Perhaps we're blessed with three "straight-shooters" in our area! Having said all this, we were always talking MSRP!!!

I weven tried it using the Autostick in 1st to no avail! HElp!
Not sluggish off the start and very impressed with
the 177 ft-lbs torque all the way thru 4500 rpm at
80 mph in 5th. Almost don't want to put it in 6th as the revs are then quite low. It's too bad they have not (yet) brought the 320 out in a stick. It would have been nice if the tach was a bit larger but I'm sure I will get used to it.
This dealer's C 240 6 speed has 1200 miles on it so I did push it past 5500 rpm on a couple of shifts.

I have enjoyed your many comments in this forum. for those of you who own a C240 with automatic, I'm curious about your thoughts on performance.
Do you find that the C240 with automatic has "acceptable" acceleration?
The new plates are very thin and it could be overlooked as one plate when you pull them from the DMV envelope.

I noticed that my C240 rides better and is quieter.
The trunk opens and all other things seem to work well. If I had not had the brake problems, I would be writing rave reviews about this vehicle. For one thing I feel really safe driving it. It is a sturdy auto.
Since I have never owned a MB prior to this I'm not sure what to expect from a reliability standpoint.
Any feedback or comments greatly appreciated.
I was told I have a one year period in which to buy the MB extended warranty. With 12 months to make up my mind, I will see how the car's multiple options and functions are behaving at the six month period. Now if I was the guy above who had the engine light illuminate on the way home from the dealer . . . I would buy the extended warranty.
Feel free to "discount" the S60. Neither cars have been crashed so feel free to speculate on safety, too. Thanks
A similar effect is occurring when the brake discs/calipers close on the rotor. When I applied firm brake pedal pressure it did not occur. I will be interested to read your post once the Dealer has returned your C 240 to you. Maybe the discs need a fine adjustment ?
RE: "Possible hidden recall" on the doors:
I spoke to a mech I know at MBZ and he said they had been alerted to rear door lock problem and that at the port they were fixing/replacing the fusebox. I'm not sure if the problems are related but it seems likely.
Can anyone add anything to this??
I drove both and, don't get me wrong the BMW is a very nice car! Very fast Very Very responsive but it was too much towards to sports car end for what I was looking for.
The BMW standard seats, although they look great I thought they left a bit to be desired on comfort (no or uncomfortable leg support) and the drivers area was tight.
The Tiptronic shifting was nice in the sense that you move forward and backward to manually shift (MBZ is left and right) but it slipped in and out of the Manual and auto mode too easily for my liking. Even though the MBZ doesn't even change positions to manually shift it seemed to stay in position better.
Just an opinion, what do I know coming out of a Blazer!!! I'll never buy American again!
