That's it.
(Oh, and once the check engine light went on. I reset the fuse and it didn't happen again.)
Based on my experience, I highly recommend the reliability of the fifth-gen Prelude.
for the last 2 years i've had a pair of Dunlop SP Sport 5000s on the prelude, which are fantastic. great tire for cornering, accelerating, and very hydroplane resistant from my experience. i fell in love with the handling of my car all over again once i put these shoes on!

re 93 Prelude 4WS Si: I had the timing best changed and my Prelude is running smoothly. Took it to a local guy and I am very impressed--$737 and he even changed air conditioner belt among others. Question: I'm looking for a cold air intake for the '93, but can't find many choices. I DON'T want one that locates low and behind the bumper as I don't want to risk getting water into the beautiful engine. I want it located higher and have a good heat shield. As I'm new to Preludes, I am asking for any suggestions!
I'm not too keane on engine mods, but the purpose of a Cold Air Intake is it's positioning low and behind the bumper. There is where the air comes in and is less affected by the engine's heat as compared to the stock air box. THat's why I've never put a CAI on my car because it floods a lot where I live.
There are a few things you can do: Instead of a Cold Air Intake, you can install a Short Ram Intake. It is the same principle, but positioned higher in the engine compartment. You can also install a Cold Air Intake with a Blow Off valve.

I'm leaning towards Apex World Sport as the cat back exhaust system for my car. Right now it really sounds awful.
I still love my Prelude and think we're going to keep it for a few more years. Maybe I can convince my wife that it would be cheaper for me to have a Jackson Racing Supercharger installed on my car than go and lease a new $35,000 325i:)

Mine did fine in Michigan winters. You may want to use snow tires in the winter. Also, you will be sitting at home with any big snowfalls. The car sits pretty low to the ground.
I'm almost down to the wear bars on my crummy stock RE92s. They should get me through the fall. Around late November/Early December I'll switch to my snow tires & steel wheels. Next spring it will be time for some new shoes on my Prelude.
I ordered a new exhaust for my car. It is an Apex World Sport Exhaust. Full stainless Steel Cat back exhaust system. It should be coming in sometime this week and I can't wait to have it installed! SHould make the car sound better. My stock muffler is welded to an aftermarket pipe that was fabricated a few years ago when my car got damaged by driving over a steel plate covering an open manhold cover.

Changing the subject here: Does anyone know of some good sites that have parts performance/regular for older Preludes? I have a '93 4WS Si and I'm looking for some performance upgrades (brake pads, stainless lines etc). However, some sites don't carry "goodies" that go back to the early 90's. Not looking for turbos etc, just things to make me go/stop/handle just a little bit better. BTW, I'm on a budget (aren't we all) so I'd appreciate your ideas.

I called my Service advisor and asked if they'll install an aftermarket clutch. I said I'd like to have an aftermarket clutch installed because I don't think the Honda clutch is up to the task of my everyday driving and I don't want to replace the clutch again in 2-3 years. He said they don't usually do aftermarket intallations, but that I'm a good customer and I have to use the Honda Flywheel. So I'm going with a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch.
My Prelude willl be back Monday hopefully. For now I miss the sharp handling, slick shifting 5 -speed, low seating position, and my Sirius Sattellite Radio. I've been driving my sister's '00 VR6 Jetta (automatic) for a few days. Tomorrow They're going to give me a loaner car until my Poor Prelude is fixed.

I'm very happy with the results. I should be, they cost me enough. Clutch takeup is now much smoother. Depressing feels lighter then stock. Clutch grabs much closer to the floor. I feel I'm driving much smoother now.
I had the Honda dealer do the work. Once I found out the ATTS unit had to be taken out and re-installed, I knew I couldn't bring it to just anybody.
I used a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch which came with a pressure place and disc. Honda dealer said I had to use a Honda Flywheel and Throwout Bearing.
Whne they had my transmission out of the car (a scary thought), they notcied the Rear Main Seal was leaking transmission fluid. They replaced the seal.
Due to the fact that my new clutch requires a break-in, I can't tell how well the exhaust performs under full throttle. I love the lw sound it has.

i'm looking at a 1992 prelude this afternoon for possible purchase. does anyone the recommended interval for changing the timing belt on a 2.3l engine?
I'm not sure about the H23A motor, maybe 60K intervals, but my '01 H22A has 90K timing Belt change intervals.

i live in the nyc area and am in the market for a prelude 1992-1996. i've seen some high mileage vehicles on ebay and am wondering about what you all have to say about a 1992-1996 prelude with mileage between 150,000 and 200,000. of course, i already understand that it comes down to maintenance. assuming that a vehicle has been well maintained, can one expect a prelude of this vintage and mileage to hold up over time as daily transportation? thanks.
Bob
I bought my 5 speed '93 4WS Si for $3900 this summer. It had 129,000miles but it looked and ran beautifully. I replaced the timing belt, water pump and all the other required changes that go along with the new TB. Mechanic said I'm good for another 90,000 and ,unless I win the lottery, I'll probably still have it.
I've recently changed the oil, using Castrol Syntec, and I added a drop in K & N air filter. Although I anticipate getting some new brake pads shortly, all else seems to be running quite well. In short, I'm pleased.
Thanks olderLUDE.

I love my Prelude. I love driving it so much that we take it everywhere. Besides my 40 mile per day round trip commute (6 days per week), we almost ALWAYS take my car when we go out on the weekends or on road trips...
If I get her something that I enjoy driving (the Protege ain't bad, but it is no Prelude), then I'll cut down on my Prelude mileage and extend it's life.
I made up my mind a long time ago that my next car after the Prelude (I can't say replacement) will definitely have a blue and white roundel on the hood (BMW). BMWs are truly magical cars. They are amazing to drive.
