Ok, i went to install an aftermarket cd player in my 99 300M with infinity system.. but i have a problem. I can get the unit to power on but no sound, i was told you have to bypass the factory amp and a whole bunch of wiring i dont wanna do, so my question is does anybody have a better or easier way of getting sound to come out of your aftermarket cd player?? if so please reply thanks

Call Crutchfield and buy a wiring harness.

I had a 1999 300M and fell in love with the ground effects package of the 300M Special. I went to my body shop and asked if I could order all the parts from Chrysler to make my car look like a Special. I wanted to add dual exhaust pipes and the Special already has the cutouts for them in the rear bumper facia. I also wanted to upgrade the tail lights to those of a 2003, but the wiring is different. I went to the trouble of buying an aftermarket spoiler, but sent it back when it looked like it took away from the clean lines of the rear deck. I gave up for a while. Then, by some pure stroke of luck, I was driving through Albuquerque, New Mexico when I spotted a beautiful dark blue 2003 300M Special on the front row of a Chrysler Dealership. It had everything I was trying to add to my '99 300M, and it was a Chrysler Certified Pre-Owned Car. After 30 minutes, and paying $8000 difference for a loaded 300M Special with half the mileage of my '99, I was trading keys. I love this car! It handles great, looks fabulous, and even has HID headlamps. I have added some stainless steel fender trim, and door trim, tinted the windows and put 18" chrome wheels on it. Trading up was the best solution to my desire to upgrade my sweet 300M. The Specials are a bit harder to find, but worth the effort. I just got lucky. :D

As with any "doctor", get a second opinion. Transmission problems are a great money maker for small shops. They can charge $1400 for $250 worth of labor, fluid and adjustments. Any Chrysler 5 Star Dealership can read the diagnostics from the multiple computers and determine if you actually have a transmission problem or not. Mine was shifting too early and it turned out to be a $100 external sensor. :) I continued to drive the car until it had racked up 88,000 miles and traded up to a 300M Special. :D

I wanted to upgrade my tail lights so much that I actually bought new assemblies for a 2002 only to discover the wiring harness are totally different and will not fit with cutting and splicing. No thanks.

    1. Does anyone know where can I get custom floor mats for my 300M? Really good ones.

    2. What about HID kits for the 300M?
  • sixfive215sixfive215 Member Posts: 13
Ok, nobody had any comments about my last questions so here goes another one. I want to lower my 300M with coilovers or drop spindles but I am having problems in finding any for my car. Please tell me that someone knows exactly where I should be looking. Pleeeeeeeeeease!!!!!
  • tayl0rdtayl0rd Member Posts: 1,926
You must not've looked too hard. :P Eibach has springs for the 300M and you can Google "300M" +"intrax springs".
  • sixfive215sixfive215 Member Posts: 13
If I wanted springs I would have said I wanted springs tayl0rd. I know about the springs but I want drop spindles or coilovers. I want the same comfort that I have now. With the springs I will not have the same comfort.

...I want to lower my 300M with coilovers or drop spindles...

Last time I checked, coilovers were springs.
  • sixfive215sixfive215 Member Posts: 13
Let me be more specific and let's see if you can help me tay. Can I lower my ride and still maintain the same comfort I have now with the stock springs?
  • tayl0rdtayl0rd Member Posts: 1,926
That all depends on your ride tolerance. Lowering springs are invariably going to make for a firmer ride, but not bone jarringly firm. It's unlikely that you'll find any drop spindles for an LH car. Also, drop spindles are likely to make the ride worse than springs would. You can check out the Intrax or Eibach springs. I've had Eibach springs on two different cars. On the first car, they actually made the ride MUCH BETTER. On the second car, the ride is much firmer. I guess it depends on the initial suspension setup. You can also ask your dealer to order you some springs that go on a 300M Special.

Thank you very much tay. Your help was greatly appreciated. I just don't want to ruin my 300M. I love it to death!!!

I just changed my battery and now my radio is not working. Just some lights blinking on it. It is the stock radio with cd changer. Does anyone know how to reset it?

Does anyone know how the TPS system works. I'd like to purchase the sensors. I already have the EVIC that has the TPS monitoring on it. I asked my Chrysler dealer and they said the whole car would have to be wired. Is this true? Any info would be apprecited.

Does anyone know a good site to order 300m accesories ?
  • metalmandavemetalmandave Member Posts: 2
Kimchi, I'm trying to get a bigger rear sway bar from the dealer, your 2003 special should have this already, the dealer needs about the last 9 or 10 digits of a VIN number to look this up for me, or if you can call a dealer and give your vin number they'll give you a part number for the bar, either way, vin digits or part number for bar will help me, you can contact me at robertsoncheney at yahoo, I'll much appreciate the help. I bought the lowering kit (all 4 springs from Eibach), don't waste time putting in the rear ones, the car nearly dragged so I had to revert to stock again. The front lowered about 3/4 inch or so, nice, stiffer, but now it's bouncy- bad... I bought KYB struts, didn't help. Anyone familiar with front struts that can dampen the stiffer springs? Monroe sensa-trac are more expensive than the KYB's, but I dont' know if they'll be better, or lastly, the Special may have stiffer struts already, anyone have a part number for these so I can check w/the dealer? They don't seem to be any help w/o part numbers or the last 10 digits of VIN from the model of car you are trying to use to get parts for your project.

Does anyone know of a website where Chrysler parts can be ordered? I am looking for body side moulding stips for both doors on the passenger side doors of my 99 300M. I inadvertantly damaged them (won't go into detail on that) and I was quoted a price of $140 for both stips by a collision repair shop and a total repair estimate of over $200. Looking in my shop manual, they seem easy to replace, it's just a matter of buying them and then matching up the paint color and attaching them to the door as the shop manual instructs. I'm hoping I can do a lot better than $140. Any websites?

    Greetings,
I very recently bought a 2002 300M Special from a friend of mine. 24,00 original miles & it is absolutely immaculate. Question: When the original tires need replacing, is there a tire choice, or wheel swapping choice, that would soften the ride just a bit? I commute across Los Angelels, rarely over 70 mph, & our rough roads keep the car unsettled. I would happily sacrifice a bit of the cars great handling for some added comfort. I'd welcome suggestions.

I hate to see a Special wasted, but you could try getting some 17" wheels and tires from a regular 300M.
  • cbridgescbridges Member Posts: 3
Thank you for the suggestion. I will hunt for a set of 17 inch wheels. I assure you, the Special is not wasted at all. If not for the rough pavement conditions, I would not change a thing. Just a little more forgivness in the ride quality will make for a near perfect driving experience from my perpective. best regards, Chris
  • pmpdaddy01pmpdaddy01 Member Posts: 1
I would not get the 17" wheels I would go to a reputable tire shop and find out what series you can go up to without rubbing and you will get the ride yo are looking for. possibly a 50 series or taller. you will be surprised what a 45 to 50 will feel like. almost like a Cadillac almost. plus you will keep the look

    Thank you for the suggestion.
I will look to see if it is a workable solution.
    best wishes,
    Chris

The problem with this radio is a common one on just about all 2001 and 2002 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, etc. models. It is actually the microprocessor in the radio going bad. I'm not sure why it happens but I have repaired several of them. It does require replacement of the micro with a new version that will permanently fix the problem. You can take it to the dealer and they will replace the radio for you but it is expensive. It can be fixed. I can email you the details. alp442@yahoo.com

I'd like to have those details, too. I believe my email is visible in my profile. Let me know when/if you send them. It's my spam collection email and I rarely check it.

Better yet, just post the details here so everybody can see it.

I've had a similiar experience with the radio on our 2002 300M. I would be interested in knowing how to remedy this without getting an entirely new radio. Thanks.

I have an '01 M. The dahboard has a crack in it that seems ti be gettting longer and becoming more of an eyesore. It's a shame because the rest of the dash/interior/car is virtually perfect. Tried some fill repairs and even had a 'specialist' try to fix it but no luck. Any suggestions? If not, anyone have a dahboard for sale?

    Thanks

Same problem on my 2000. Tried products from NAPA, no good. Body/trim shop charged $140 and it started to run again in a few weeks. I stopped the crack with super glue but it is unsightly. Dash covers are available on the internet. I saw some decent ones at www.rockauto.com. Since I didn't want to replace the entire dash or buy a carpet-like cover, I found that one of those sticky pads used to hold your cell phone works fine. Not elegant, but....

I have a 2000M with 51,000 on it and the driver's side interior door handle broke. I drove it for a wek or so and opened the door by lowering my window and using the external handle. This is NOT a viable solution in Colorado where it was 18 below in the mornings. My dealer wants $105.46 for the bezel and handle, which is made out of plastic and looks like a kid's toy. Checking TSB, there is a bulletin 2304702, NHTS 1007922, issued in May 2001 regarding this problem. Has anyone had success in getting a dealer fix? The panel actually comes off quite easily and I'd be happy to get this a price break on the part.

    Thanks

I am attempting to replace the CD changer on 2000 300M. No problem installing the replacement changer (same model as OE)... but now I get no power to the changer (radio still works). Any ideas?

    Timbo3334,

I recently crossed a similar situation with my 99' Chrysler 300m. The only difference is, I installed some cheaper form of the 7K HID bulbs for additional style, but because the car sits sooo low, nobody could really see them. I actually wanted to angle mine higher. I noticed as I was changing the bulbs (which was a pain in the a** completely), that there is a little screw, type thing in the middle of both headlights. In short, grab an alan wrench and turn that to the right. This will angle ur headlights down, as to not blind other drivers. Hope you get this and it helps!

Is there any thing that I can buy to replace my 4 disc CD changer? It doesn't work anymore because I installed a Pioneer head unit.
Are there any empty boxes that you can replace the cd changer with? plastic tray fillers for example?

Hello, I was able to by a 2004 300M Special. When I purchased the car, up front the seller told me that she left the moon roof open and it rained, most likely soaking the whole console. When you drive it, you get about 2 miles and the dash goes blank, no instruments, no lights inside, no radio, no control on the moon roof. All the fuses look brand new, could this be a ECM problem?
