The speakers are 6 1/2" round in the front and back in the LX sedan. The coupe has 6" X 9" in the rear.
I'm in the Chicago area looking to add leather to my 2006 Civic EX when I get it.
Does anyone have any pictures to show and/or places they've been for this? How much was it?
Secondly, will heated seats work as well or will it drain the battery? Is it okay to have the interior illumination and heated seats?
All help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
I am looking for some information on how to wire the remote starter part of the system for a manual car. I know that I must bypass the starter wire and somehow connect to the clutch switch, but I don't know how.
If anyone can help me or has come across a good resource, please let me know.
Thanks for the help,
MT
Has anyone here had the interior illumination installed on an '06 Civic? Any pics other than the one on Honda's site?
Thanks!

Hi all. My name is Cait. I'm nineteen and I am looking to buy my very first car. When researching the Honda civic, I realized that, besides the year, manual or automatic transmision were NOT my only options. Can someone please tell me what these different "trims" are all about (a.k.a. these extra letters and numbers and price differences)? Thanks again (please forgive my ignorance)...

Can't be installed with fog lights on lX and EX,
Recommendations?

I replaced the rear speakers in the 2006 civic lx with pioneer 6.5"
*coaxial* speakers but not because of bass response. This otherwise
excellent car is tainted by crappy speakers which have
high-frequecy rattle or buzz or jingle on female voices or music
with cymbals. I am surprised that no honda review has mentioned this
distortion.
The factory speakers have a plastic frame with a tiny magnet. Even
the dirt cheap speakers from wal-mart have a metal frame with hefty
magnet. Do you see where this is going?
The factory speakers have only one mounting screws and two plastic
tabs to place them in the mounting hole. To access the mounting
screw you have to pop a plastic cover from inside the trunk and
then unscrew from the back seat.
Since the mounting hole is horseshoe shaped, no aftermarket speaker
will fit. I had to cover the hole with a ring cut from 1/4"
polystrene to adapt to the round speaker.
If you want solid bass, you need an amp and enclosed subwoofer.
If the woofer is not contained, the trunk lid and plastic panels
in the civic will vibrate giving loud, cheap sound.
Cheers,

i just got a performance camshaft for my 1.7L civic si. does my engine require any upgrades in order for my aftermarket camshaft to work properly? plus so far i have changed the following, cold air intake, header, and full exhaust i believe everything from air intake to exhaust is well balanced (correct me if im wrong) i am now thinking of changing my factory pulley system with a AEM pulley system or something, with the new pulley would there be anything say "unbalanced"? any help or repley would be very helpfull!!! thanks
For Exhaust, I found some universal exhaust system's, didn't know if I should wait if considering upgrading the exhaust on the Civic and what the best thing to do on it is....any thoughts?
I could've done the best buy deal but that would've meant i would've had to have had the external unit and mess up the dash.
someone needs to explain to honda what the word "ready" means and that $700 for XM is such a joke.
Those Honda lawyers must have worked overtime on the entirely misleading phrase "XM Ready" before marketing the 2006 Civics.
You did very well getting your dealer to do the job for only $400. But when I read this 16-page installation procedure I decided that I wouldn't want my vehicle torn apart and possibly reassembled incorrectly.

I was concerned about squeeks and rattles in the dashboard area and elsewhere after such major surgery. I also think that the inside-the-windshield antenna location is just plain dumb. See pages 11 through 14 here:

I'll stick with my 2004 Accord with factory XM until Honda gets real about the proper way to equip Civics with XM.
You need to go to a shop that specialises in seat upholstry.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for achieving better MPG. I'm thinking about adding a cold air intake and I'm also thinking about adding a chip to my car. If anyone has any affordable modification ideas around 0-$500 that is practical I would love to hear them...
You are much better off using the money you put into buying those items in the bank and investing and or drawing tax free interest. Neither will seriously aid you in your goals.
Cold air intakes will actually let in more particulate matter than the stock air filter. This increases engine wear and if you are doing UOA's, point you in the direction of more frequent oil change intervals, which as you probably can deduce is oxymoronic to "saving" money. If you get an "oiled" filter, oil CAN migrate to your MAF and cause problems $'s....
A chip will decrease your reliability, but more importantly actually encourage you to "FEEL" the new power on tap. So if you have a automatic transmission, a modest increase in HP and torque should not cause more engine/drivetrain wear. However, if you have a manual transmission, most are built and mated with very little room for upgrades in hp and torque. The application of the new hp and torque will actually accelerate clutch wear as a min. (Clamping issues)
I am a new owner to a Honda Civic 05 EX. I have been having a difficult time finding and replacing the headlights. I purchased the car with blue headlights. I now realize I can't purchase that light bulb because it is now illegal. I'm fine with that. However, I am not sure what model of bulb I need to replace the headlight with. I have had several trips to Pep Boys and Kragen. I'm not sure if I need a 9005 or a 9006 bulb. In addition to this I was just told that my car needs 6 lightbulbs, 3 on each side. Is that correct?
The Audio system seems to indicate that it can play MP3 files from the PC Card. So I put in a "no driver required" CompactFlash to PCMCIA adapter card with a 1GB CF memory card, loaded with about 8 CDs worth of MP3 files. Bingo, it works.
Does anyone know if other types of PCMCIA memory card adapters will work? I've got more XD and SD cards than CompactFlash... Also, what is the upper memory limit for that card slot? Will it handle a 4GB card? A microdisk?
Finally, are there any other devices that it can use, e.g.: BlueTooth adapter to integrate with a cell phone?
Thanks!
John.
Is there a secret I need to know to get this to work? Could Honda have forgotten about RDS?
If you have RDS info working on your 2006 Civic Hybrid navigation display, can you please tell me the software version you are running?
Thanks,
John.
I just bought the 2006 civic EX sedan. I thought that XM ready also meant that all I had to do was call XM and get a subscription, boy was I wrong!! I called the dealer back and he said the part was $400.00 I said screw that it says XM ready and the guy who sold me the car never explained what the difference between XM ready and XM equipted meant! When buying the car I had specifically said that I wanted a car with XM. They told me I could go the cheaper route by putting something on my dash! I said no way I paid 20000 for this car to have XM radio ready, I mean for God's sake it says it right on the dash and there is also a button for XM! Very misleading!! Anyway The dealer wasn't moving too quickly so I called Honda and raised hell. The Honda Rep said there is nothing he could do for me I said are you kidding me?? I said is this customer service?? Don’t you service the customer because if you don’t what is it that you actually do! I was so pissed. Finally he said well fine I will have this case brought to a District rep. So surprisingly the rep called me the very next day and we talked about it for a while and went around and round. About an hour later I got a call from the dealership I purchased the car from and he said that they were going to order the part and put it in for me at no charge!!!! Wow I was totally surprised! So I'm happy about that but the XM ready is very misleading and it’s a class action law suit waiting to happen!! So I go to get it installed on Monday, hopefully it turns out good and they don’t try to scam me somehow!!! Catch yeah later Rob
any suggestions about taking my honda into service before my warranty comes due.. im at 66,000 miles on a 2001 civic ex.. 5 years or 100,000 miles but 5 years is up this december..
maybe should leave well enough alone!?
billy
Anyone know why? Could it be a bad PC Card Adapter? I used real player to save the files to my sd card.

Hi there. Did they install the equipment? I'm really curious since I am right now going through your pain. Dealer told me it had XM. Owner's manual says all you have to do is call XM to turn it on. Nothing anywhere in the stuff given to me when I bought the car says anything about yet more hardware.
Hell, the definition of "Ready" is, "to be completely prepared or in condition for immediate action or use." This does not sound like the case to me. If Honda's into putting non-functional features on their cars, then I would like to see a "Photon Torpedo Ready" button and a "Deflector Shield Ready" button (all of course with some additional required hardware:)
Cheers,
Rick
Yes they did install the XM for me. I had a good salesman. He admitted he told me wrong, which I'm sure helped my situation. But the bottom line is that it says ready! I could not believe it when they told me the part was going to be 400 sum dollars! I had to call Honda myself and [non-permissible content removed]! The first customer service guy told me there was nothing he could do. He kept on telling me that XM ready and XM equipped are two different things! I told him ready means ready! Just think if you told your wife or girlfriend supper was ready and when she went to the table to eat there was nothing there! I thought supper was ready she asks and you say it is ready you just have to go to the store and get it!! HAHAHA She would kick your butt! Anyway I fought through to a district manager and well even that was a struggle! It all paid off for me in the end as the dealership ponied up and installed the XM Factory unit for me! Even gave me a free oil change!! You should get it for free!! call them and [non-permissible content removed]! Don’t settle for anything less then free! They gave it to me free why not you! Honda knows this is an issue!! They will give it to you!! Just don’t back down and don’t take no for an answer!! It does work well and you will also get a free 3 months!! When you call to activate tell XM you bought a New Civic and they will have a free trial for you!! The dealership I bought my car from was the motor Inn in Albert Lea Minnesota!!! Let me know how it goes!!! Good Luck!!!

Incidentally, you can download from the internet a PDF of the dealer install directions for the XM unit. A total of 68 steps which entails taking most of the dash, center console, and trunk trim out to route the cables. Hardly the definition of ready. I'm an engineer and the level of disassembly/reassembly scares the hell out of me.
All in all I think the car is great. A super machine which is really (there's that word again) easy on the gas. I'll keep you posted on my outcome.

I'm due to take delivery of a 06 Civic EX coupe within the next week. I too have an IPod, and one of the selling points for me was the MP3 input. I considered the added expense of the I-link cable, but after reading this review (link title), I've decided to save my money and just use the MP3 input. Looks like Honda has a long way to go to make a user-friendly IPod controller.
