My new 2500 chevy started knocking at startup at about 11,000 miles. The dealer said it was carbon build up. It started again 2,500 miles later. The dealer now says GM is not covering this because it is a maintance item. It Knocks for 2 minutes at startup. Please help with any suggestions.

with our 2000 K2500 cc w/ 454. They finally fixed it after a ton of fights and 5-6 months time. Now it's back and once again they say "nothing's wrong, it's normal". Sound familiar?

    good luck with Chevy.

My 5.7 Z-71 off road chevy had the same problem. After repeated trips to the dealer with No Problem Found, The engine blew up with 19,000 miles, The problem they said was a bad check valve in the oil cooling system. They replaced the engine and it has been fine. Just traded it in with 70,000 miles on a new HD 2500 crew cab 4 x 4. Good luck
