I would pass on option B. There really isn't a point to purchase a FWD Audi, that defeats the purpose of owning an Audi. AWD Audi handling is the drive no other maker can duplicate.

As far as option A goes just follow the link to see if you are purchasing below invoice. You should be able to get it below.

Thanks jnyz, appreciate the quick reply. I used the calculator you provided and came out with $429 / mo with $0 down. Is this fair? My inputs were:

MSRP: 37,190 (includes all dealer installed equipment & packages)
Base Cap Cost: 35,166 (took this from edmunds and includes additional packages and kits)
    Residual value @ 54% and MF @ .00064
    42 months
    8.75% sales tax

I hope I did that right. Please let me know if this is a good price. I was hoping for something closer to $400 with $0 down...

    Car_Man, what do you think?

Hi, I just left the dealership with this quote. They said they can't negotiate anymore on the selling price because it's close to invoice. I'm trading in a 2004 Acura TSX, kelly blue book values trade in at 10,700, they are at 9000.

    MSRP: 44,160
    Invoice: 41,544.33
    Selling price: 41,546.10
    trade amount: 9000
    lic fee: 250
    Sales Tax: 3191.28
    out the door: 36,005.38

They waived the service fee of $150

I'd like to get it for 35K but trying to figure out if I could/should negotiate better?

    Thanks

not sure if this is still timely, but I don't see any reason why you can't get that extra $1,000 of what you want.

    http://www.edmunds.com/audi/a4/2013/car-incentives.html?style=200421519&irr_sect- ion=customer_rebates_irr

See the link above, there is a $1,000 "Conquest" rebate available just for trading in your Acura.

If you want to try to get even more, I would take your trade over to Carmax or something like that for a comparison trade. I am in the Houston area so there was another similar place I took my car, then went back to Audi and got them to match the trade offer.

Finally, if it were me, I would simply tell them (not ask) that they need to take another $1,000 off of the price because of the conquest offer and let them know that they are still significantly above invoice as a result.
  • dac47dac47 Member Posts: 2
Thanks! it is timely as I haven't bought the car yet and had no idea about the Coquest rebate. So sounds like you're saying I can also get them to come down on the price under invoice?

    Thanks!

I am looking to purchase a A4 prestige with the S-line option.
That said the information from Audi I see shows the S-line coming with "summer" vs. all season tires.
I would like to have the dealership change the tires before I purchase the vehicle. How should this effect my negotiated price? I understand this request will need to be clear before we get to a final price just don't know what I should be paying if anything. The alternative is to purchase from my tire dealer at home a second set of tires for the winter ( l live in the mountains). I did have 2 set of tires for my last AWD car. Just a guess but I would think a second set might be $1200.

Second question. There is a vehicle in inventory which is very close to what I am looking for. Been there at least 30 days maybe longer. If it is still there at the end of April would I be able to negotiate a better price than now? I realize this is some what of a gamble because it could be gone tomorrow so the price reduction would need to be more than hundreds of dollars to be worth the risk. I don't know when the 2014 start to show up so I don't have an understanding on the timing.

    Thanks for the help.

If they want to make the deal they will change the tires for you but my guess is they are all season on the car.

Car dealers pay interest on cars sitting on the lot so they might have more invested in some cars. That could not be in your favor.

I would visit them 3 days before the end of the month and purchase the last day of the month with your financing all lined up with your local bank. Do not purchase any add on's. They are all in the dealers favor.
  • pinonridgepinonridge Member Posts: 2
    Jnyz,
Thanks so much for your help.

When you say "do not purchase any add ons" I am assuming that includes the prepaid maintences or any form of extended warranty?

I have asked Audi directly (e-mail inquiry) about the tires because I found it so strange not to put all season tires on the S-line trim but so far have not gotten any response.
    Thanks again.

Yes, no extended maintenance, tire warranty, paint warranty, extended warranty. No add on's.
  • escortownerescortowner Member Posts: 132
I happen to partially disagree with no add ons. In general that is good advice, however, this is my 3rd Audi I am on and the one thing that is worth the money is their Audi care plan. It provides all maintenance for the first 4 years and it is about $750.

Unless you do all maintenance yourself, you will save money by paying up front. Also, on one of my Audis I had some real reliability issues and having the Audi care helps eliminate any potential for them to look at you as being at fault.

They will have the warranty and maintenance responsibility. Considering these cars are pushing the upper edge on technology it should be thought that maintenance will be expensive and a warranty claim is possible.

Peace of mind counts for something, but in this case it also makes financial sense.

Hi guys, this is my 1st time here in the forum & need your help on deciding on how much exactly I should pay for this car.

    Here are the options

    2013 Audi A4 2.0T Premium Plus Sedan
    Premium Plus Package ($4,200)
Audi MMI Navigation Plus Package ($3,050)
Audi Guard All-Weather Floor Mats ($250)

MSRP - $44,060 & dealer (in MD) agreed to give this for $44,310.12 (on the road price including everything)

I currently own a 09 BMW (which I didn't tell them yet) & I think I can get $1000 off because of this? Also I'll try to see whether I can get a good deal with trade in this car as well?

What's the best way of approaching this? Should have a firm final price for the new car & then talk about the trade in?
Or should we talk about a final price including both?

    Please help me. thanks!
  • jacobkjacobk Member Posts: 5
That sounds like a straight. Actually it is about 100.00 too low so make sure they are including the destination and dealer processing fees. A lot of dealers will exclude these fees until you're in the dealership. You must ask point blank. When we give you a price of any kind it ALWAYS includes these fees. As for your trade, you're already at invoice price for the Audi so do not expect to get KBB numbers on your trade. Just nothing left to use and yes you will qualify for the 1000.00 comp. discount.

Hi... would appreciate any advice on the following. I am looking at a Certified Pre-Owned 2011 A4 sedan 2.0T quattro with Premium Plus pkg. It has 38,000 miles on it, and the dealer is asking $28,350. I feel the mileage is high for this price, and am sure I can negotiate down, but not sure what a fair price would be, from my vantage point. The Edmunds TMV price, when I put in all the options, etc., comes to $28,750. However, I can't believe this is correct, as there's no way the dealer would start under TMV (unless I don't understand the TMV correctly or didn't process it correctly). Anyway, just looking for advice on what I can reasonably get this car for. Also, should I be asking for service records for this car? I'm concerned about the oil consumption issues I've been reading about. Thanks for any advice.

Hello, I am looking at a CPO 2013 Audi Allroad Premium Plus with 5000 miles on it, and they are asking $45,500 in Minn/St.Paul, Minnesota. This is not far off a brand new car without CPO. Is this a fair price? Is it worth it just for CPO if the price of a new car similarly optioned but without CPO at invoice is about the same? What is the wholesale price? Thanks.

    Hi
    I'm looking to purchase a 2013 Audi A4 2.0T Premium Quattro (2.0L 4-cyl. Turbo AWD 8-speed Automatic) (Northern Jersey)
    Options include:
    Premium Plus
    Audi MMI Navigation Plus Package
    Audi Advanced Key
    Audi Guard All-Weather Floor Mats
I am eligible for the $1k Conquest Incentive

I think a good deal would be $39.5k (with incentive), MSRP ($43.5k) but do you think I can get a better deal?
    Thanks for any insight
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
What is the invoice price of the car?
  • intag22intag22 Member Posts: 13
Invoice on car is $40.5k before 1k incentive. Do dealers typically negotiate the Audi Care Plan as well into the price of the car?
    Thanks for your help
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
I would say 39.5 is the maximum. There are plenty of dealers that would do that deal if the car is on their lot. A C is not in the price. I don't recommend it but some people feel comfortable paying 700.00 for peace of mine. Most dealers offer 50% off the maintenance anyway so if you do if that way it is less than the up front charge of purchasing Audi Care.

There is still a profit of at least 1200.00 built into the car if you get it for 39.5. That does not include the back end of the deal which could be another 2k in profit.
  • intag22intag22 Member Posts: 13
Thanks jnyz that is helpful, but I'm sorry I don't completely understand your comment of another 2k on the back end?
I plan on financing a portion of the car, so if go with them I'm paying 1.9% for the portion I finance.
You don't think a dealer would go much lower than the 39.5k, if at all?
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
    edited March 2013
Yes, dealers will go below 39.5. 39.5 is the max I would pay for that car. Some might go to 38k. It just depends on their situation.

Back end of a deal, is after you negotiate a sale price. It includes financing profit, Audi Care profit, warranty profit. A dealer will make something on everything he sells you. There are plenty of warranties available tire, paint, ding, rim. Dealers make money on all of these extras which are called the back end of a deal.

I do not recommend any extras. Most people never use them or forget they have purchased them.

If you want to save money you need to be a tough negotiator. Dealers just try to wear you down by keeping you in the dealership for a long period. this is a tactic they are taught to use. Tire you out and you give in. The opposite also works. You come in fresh and they want to get rid of you.

I am looking to buy a Audi A-4 in NJ. Looking for a model with PNY (Navigation ) and WPS (Premium Plus) Packages. Sticker Price I saw is varies between $44000 and $45000. I have no clue what is their invoice price or what is the best price I can get.
    Any input will be appreciated.

Just closed a deal. I went to 7 dealerships, some multiple times and really worked hard for this deal.

    Lease Details
39 Months, 15,000 miles per month. Total Out of Pocket at Signing: $1540.00, which includes First Month, Bank Fee and NYS Documentation Fees. Taxes Rolled into the Lease.

A4 - Premium Model, With Convenience Package, Heated Seats, Lighting Package, Exhaust Tips and All Weather Floor Mats - Estimated Total MSRP: $38,495.

    Total Lease Payment: $499.00
In addition, They are paying the last three months of my current lease @ $658.00 x 3 = $1974 value. With this value divided by the 39 months, The least payment price is equivalent to $449.00 without the trade in.

The lowest I was able to get any of the other 6 dealers down to was $529.00 and the highest was $613.00

    Good Deal?
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
So what was the sale price of the Audi? Even though it was a lease, the car was still sold to a bank.
  • avopravopr Member Posts: 5
    Hi all,

Looking at a 2013 Premium plus - MSRP 45,875. What would be a good deal for this car?

    Thanks.
  • escortownerescortowner Member Posts: 132
try looking on here at the invoice and on truecar.com There are so many configurations for the car it's tough to tell exactly, but in general there seems to be a $2800 - 3500 spread from MSRP to Invoice on the A4.

Also, see if you qualify for an existing manufacturers rebate like a loyalty program, or a conquest rebate. Eg. if you already own an Audi or a direct competitor like BMW, MB, Acura, Lexus Infiniti.

I wound up paying about $1000 under invoice because of the rebate. Also, don't fall for surcharges like glass etching for $250 or anything. Finally, you could end up with the car at or below invoice, but get low balled on the trade in.

not a specific answer but gives you some things to think about in your research
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
Very good answer. You really can give an answer until you post an invoice cost.
Negotiate cost of car before trade in. Again do not purchase extras.

    I bot 2013 Audi A4 Premium Plus w/MSRP of $44970 for $42k. I was not eligible for $1000 rebate
  • hithere6hithere6 Member Posts: 2
Just came back from a Audi dealer with the following offer:

    MSRP: 32,300

    Offered sales price: 24980

    Tax: 1,66*.00
    Dealer fee: 599.00
Then there are tag application fee and another small fee add to roughly $90
    Total OTD: 27,3**.00

Then I was able to bring it down a bit to $26,950 and they wouldn't go down anymore.

    About the car:
    FWD Premium
    36K miles on it
3.5 years of CPO left on the car
    clean carfax, one lease owner
the dealer is willing to thrown in all-weather mats for free

Any ideas if this is a good/okay deal? Thanks!!
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
You need to do some more research on the car. What is blue book value? What is msrp? Is that the original msrp? There is no msrp on a used car, only a new car. There is a dsrp though. You need to do a little more homework to see if you are getting a good deal.
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
Also I do not see any sense in buying a fwd Audi, the reason people buy is for the handling and you do not have that with a fwd Audi.
  • hithere6hithere6 Member Posts: 2
That's the original MSRP. KBB is $28437.

I intended to buy a AWD, but after some research I changed my mind. I am a regular commuter coming from a Honda Accord, so FWD has enough features I am looking for for an A4 for now. Thank you for your advice. How about the price tho?
  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
What is the year? i'm not really into used cars but I would assume anything under KBB wholesale would be a good deal.
  • ydolydol Member Posts: 12
Just purchased 2013 A4Q with similar pkg with phantom black pearl color in NV. Your invoice price should be around $36.2k (Audi currently offer Preferred Equipment Credit, please check Audi website for special offer). So dealer offer for $35.5k is below invoice. I took advantage of loyalty $1k and conquest $1k to further reduce the price below invoice. Also, took advantage of 1.9% financing up to 66 mo.
Few thoughts, with end of mo approaching, there could be more incentive. I am a loyal BMW-3 owner for 10 years and Audi has done a tremendous job to convert my brand loyalty. I purchased Q5 for my wife few mo ago after considering X3 and I decided on A4 after considering 2013 BMW 3. I must say it is not all about price but features compare side by side, Audi offers more. I could not find any BMW below $40k with light pkg and the new Audi light pkg is so nice. Good Luck!!
  • escortownerescortowner Member Posts: 132
Well I can't agree with you more on the BMW to Audi comparison. Especially if you want all wheel drive. I have owned 3 A4s and this one is by far the best, but I have to say BMW is rely the one pushing Audi. To me there is a big difference between the 2013 and 2012 A4 and I attribute that to the 2012 BMW 3 series.

The interior trim on the A4 is significantly better on the 2013 vs 2012. Eg real leather vs leatherette. Improved gps and maps. More thoughtful button function and nicer use of aluminum trim.

That being said, if the BMW was within $1000 for the same features I would but the BMW. But it isn't. One thing I noticed is the BMW 3 series stock stereo is garbage whereas the Audi is nice. Although I would still spring for the B & O because that one is I credible for stock.

Anyway. Congrats on your new car. Enjoy it.
  • newbie_toonewbie_too Member Posts: 4
Thanks ydol. When we ordered (have a deposit on a 2013 P, but hedging on an in-production 2014 P+) there was no Audi preferred equipment credit. Will watch the web to see if any other discounts pop up by the end of the month. Sadly, don't think the 2014 P+ will get any credits.
  • ydolydol Member Posts: 12
I would suggest to push for getting additional conquest rebate ($1k) by mentioning that you seriously considering BMW 3-Series. I found it helpful during negotiation. Also, I encourage to test drive the BMW-3. That's what I did before getting my A4 and Q5 (test drove X3). The BMW dealer currently offers invoice + 500 and there is $750 loyalty rebate so that is comparable to your current offer.
  • petersmith5petersmith5 Member Posts: 10
Is there anywhere I can save some money? It's a A4 quattro Premium with Convenience and Lighting I think.

  • jnyzjnyz Member Posts: 102
Do your homework and find out what the invoice is on the car. Tell them you will pay that and not a penny above. Tell them to shove the doc fee and Lic fee. That should save you 50.00-100.00 a month.
  • escortownerescortowner Member Posts: 132
Oh yeah, and last year when I bought my 2013 I got it at invoice + a great deal on my trade in and it had just come out days before.

If they know you are serious about buying, they should deal with you.

looking to purchase a new 2013 A4 but trying to understand pricing between the 2013 vs 2014 models. checked on kelley bb and edmunds for the fmv and the 2013 and 2014 models are almost on top of each other in terms of $. is this right? if i buy a 2013, the moment i drive it off the lot the car is a year old and has depreciated by 20%. shouldn't this be factored into the price or am i missing something? thanks.

I have a Acura and I was told that the conquest rebate is limited to BMW and Mercedes only. There are no added rebates.
