Just bought a 2003 Accord Sedan EX-L 5 sp MT in silver w/black interior. I was dissapointed that there was no V-6 in a manual but thus far I'm liking the car. I'm also thinking about upgrading my tires. They don't feel substantial enough for the car. I looked at Camry, Passat, Altima & Accord. Came down to Passat vs Accord & I felt the reliability of Honda was most important in the long run.

Hi all,

Got my accord v6, 3.0 liter for a few months. I notice some vibration from the gas pedal when driving off to work each morning, i.e., within 20 seconds from start, speed = 5mph. Same thing happens when I get off from work. After the initial start, it won't happen again. Does anybody experience this?

No, I don't think it's a bad purchase.
It's a piece of mind.
My wife bought an '03 EX-V6 last November.
Since she's not going to drive a lot, so we opted
for a 7/75k (no deductible) warranty for $1040.
She used to have a 93 Accord LX.

I own an 89 Accord LXi with 193k miles on it.
When I bought it in 1988, I also bought a 6/100k
warranty. I wished they had a 7/100k plan then.
The car had over 90k after 6 years.
During the warranty period, I had the following repairs: power window module, engine mount, thermostat and sensor.
I wished I could take the time to have dealer to fix the power antenna problem before the warranty expired. Thanks goodness, they don't make power antenna these days. Honda's p/antenna really sucked.

After driving my wife's EX V6, I don't think I can
buy another 4-cyclinder engine car again.
We love the V6. At 4000 miles, so far no problem.

Beautiful 2003 Honda Accord-EX sedan, 4 cyl. Taffeta White with sunroof, visor, fog lights, alloy wheels, rear wing spoiler, etc. Have had a BAD experience with this car due to the brake pad recall issues. Drove around for 10 months in a virtual *ox-cart* without a "fix" from Honda. (While waiting for Honda to come up with solution, Dealership resurfaced rotors THREE times in 10 months). Finally, Honda acknowledged the brake pad/rotor defect and replaced entire brake system. Now I must replace tires due to 10-month brake problem affecting balance and alignment. So far, NOT so good. Was thinking of buying son a Civic, but now really giving it second thoughts. Disappointment abounds at our house. Wouldn't buy it again. Maybe --Would have waited another year and bought '04 model instead.

I just purchased a 1991 Accord SE automatic. The problem I need help with is that off and on when I put it in park it gets stuck there. I have to wiggle the button on the shifter around and then all of a sudden it will pop out. I'm getting a mechanic to look at it but it would be nice if I knew what the problem could be ahead of time.

When you say wiggle and then it pops, do you feel like something changes in the feel of the button on the side of the shifter.

There are a few times that could give you problems, but if it seems like the button that releases the shift lever is acting strangely, it could be something very simple.

are you parking on an incline or decline when this happens? If you do, a good way to make sure that you are engaging the park correctly is to set the parking brake, put the car in neutral, then release the brake pedal. If the car rolls, then that is what it is doing when the park is engaged, and the reason for the difficulty in releasing the park is that the park pawl in the transmission is being held there by the weight of the car. If it doesn't roll, then put it in park, and it shouldn't be an issue. If it is an issue then, it is probably something with the shift button interlock.

At that age, it is probably very likely that the parking brake cable is out of spec and needs to be adjusted. The parking brake should engage and hold the car between 4-8 clicks normally. I would probably have the parking brake adjusted and see if this fixes it.

This last weekend my wife and I took delivery of a 03 EX-V6. It is our second Honda Accord and we hope it brings us as much fun as the first one. A great buying experience and a deal that I'm happy with. It is Blue with Gray leather interior. The V6 is wonderful and the ride is nice without being like a Buick. I look forward to adding to the discussion.

My Accord 2000 LX V6,61,000 mi, maintained according to Honda manal,at dealer shop. Stalling starts when warm now and then. Dealer replaced EGR kit (shop notice), cleaned jets (170$) Car then stalled during inspection test. Dealer said residual carbon, return for testing in a few days. Claimed that failure to do dealer's 30,000 mi/60000 mi $$$service voids emissions warranties. Honda requires jets cleaned every 30,000 mi??? Accord struggles with emissions Inspection at 61,000 mi with maintenance according to manual (not dealer's manual), never allowing tank below half filled, major brands gas! (Is 89 or 91 oct. necessary for Accord V6?)Will three year old Accord finally pass emissions Inspection? What to do if it doesn't?

Bought my wife a '99 Accord-black. Had owned a 1989 Nissan 240SX (still the best car I have ever had-but after 360,000 the body had simply rotted out), and I currently also own a 1993 Nissan Maxima (piece of junk!-though much due to incompetent dealers). The accord seems to be a much better built vehicle, though compared to the Max the ride is quite rough.
One question for everyone, 3 months ago I travelled across the country with the aforementioned accord, but forgot to check the motor oil before leaving. 500 miles into the trip I realized my obvious oversight, checked the level and found it 3 quarts low!
Naturally I thought I had ruined the engine, but filled her up and found I was burning about 1 quart every 300 miles during the remainder of the trip. When I got to my destination, I got an oil/filter change, and, the point to the story, my Accord seems to have forgiven me. I am no longer burning oil. Only thing I can guess is something had plugged the valve seal during my trip and then worked its way out after the change. Any thoughts?

Just brought home an '04 Accord EX/V6/NAV Sedan last night. It's Graphite Pearl and it's just an amazing car. I've been driving SUV's for about 10 years, and since my daughter is now in college, it was time for something classy. I got an unbelievable deal and am thrilled with the deal I got. My husband played with the Nav the whole way home. I hope this doesn't mean he's going to want to drive it all the time!

I'm happy to be part of the club and will report on the car as I put the miles on. I also want to thank Edmunds and all of you who post here, because the information you provided helped me to get a really great deal on this car. I did it all via email, and it was the most pleasurable car buying experience I've ever had.

Hi everyone. I just bought a 2004 Accord Sedan EX V6 with navigation. I absolutely love the car. It's quite a step up from the '89 Corolla I had before. I can do 0-60 in about 6.9 seconds, enough to make the cat fly up against the back window when she's sitting on the back deck. Muauahahaha. My old Corolla did 0-60 in roughly the same amount of time it took to build a skyscraper. Anyways, I have been reading Edmunds for the past 5 months, and I want to say thanks to everyone who helped me out in buying the car. I paid $25,351 (not including taxes and fees)!

we picked up a '91 legend from my fiancee's brother(her car) unfortunately, he wan't very mechanically inclined, did an oil change and put 2qts in the 3.2l v6... so when it overheated, chk engine light came on, and the engine shut down, he gave me a call... thought the engine was trashed as well... but we willed it and it's been running fine. One thing that got it running much cleaner was flushing the oil out... bought a case of oil(24qts cheapo 69cents/qt stuff)) and drained the oil(black and almost sludge) don't change the filter, then filled the oil, started the engine, let it warm up, drive around the block to get the full rpm range(especially if it has VTEC) and then let it cool for about 15min, drain while still warm, repeat until oil comes out clean. After the oil starts coming out that almond color again(took the Legend about 4 flushes) then change the filter, and fill with good(the usual) oil. The first flush I did, also added in an engine cleaner additive to the oil. Changed the oil after 6mos and still very clean, haven't had a problem with the engine, runs quieter and smoother now...

up to you if you want to try it, it does take some time, but IMO it was worth it

I should have posted this on the Problems & Solutions board, so I'll keep this short. Not a bad idea.
I did do 2 changes fairly close together. Essentially I just keep an eye on it, soon as the oil starts to get dark, another change. Maybe not as good as a flush, but seems to have done the trick.

Like porknbeans, I bought a 2003 Accord EX-V6 with no Navi (none available in Canada). Wonderful car with excellent acceleration (leap years ahead of my previous car, a 1993 Toyota Camry 4-cylinder). Great deal at $28900 (Cdn. $) with taxes and trade-in of $4300). Interior has everyone remarking, "is this a Lexus?" Any other members seen friends say the same thing?

I'll need to get the drivers side door painted and maybe a little body work. What color is yours? The traction control and ABS are a treat in the snow (7 inches yesterday). Ouch! That's gotta hurt!

Mine is a black EX-V6 with black interior with metallic trim (that's the only color combination available in Canada). I really wanted the tan leather and fake wood that came with black U.S. Accords (and also available on the Acura TSX) - it looks so classy, and gives a contrast between the interior and exterior. I guess Honda Canada didn't want the Accord to steal the TSX's thunder by offering a very similar interior.

About snow - I drove through miserable weather in the past week (roughly 20 cm of snow in the past five days). The traction control was a godsend! As I park on a side street near the University of Toronto, the snow around the curbs can really accumulate both around and under the car. In my old Toyota Camry, I would have been stuck for good, but turning off the TCS on the Accord, I was able to pull out of the snow pile without a problem.

Well, everybody, we have just reached 10,000 miles over the past 13 months, and it has been absolutely perfect! To the dealer twice @ 5,000 mile intervals for oil changes. They repaired the recall for the transmission racing (or something similar), but have not heard of the brake rotors/pads being a recall. I have not noticed any problems, but is this a general recall? Should I ask to have things checked? Thanks for the info provided on this site!

The issue with the brakes is not a recall. It's a TSB adivising warranty repair. Not all cars seem to have the problem, but mine did.

If your car is fine, don't worry about it. But if your brakes start to grind or the rotors warp, take it in and the dealer will address it for you.

Went to the dealer on March 08, and they were very helpful. I just asked if there was a specific way of learning about the brake problem, and they punched in my VIN, and it only showed the two (2) recalls for the oxygen sensor hose and the trans. reverse problems, which they fixed. They were aware of the TSB for the brake noise (like you mentioned), but apparently my VIN was not affected - Good News! Thanks for your help.

I have an 01 Accord EX with 42,000 miles, excellnet conditon. I need to replace my brake rod. Since i am already out of warranty,
where would you suggest me to go? Dealer or other shops? Could those of you who have experience give some advice?

I would find a good regular shop and understand that any good mechanic can take care of a brake job. The only thing I can think of to concern with is the quality of parts. Try to shoot for genuine Honda parts. I think they're worth the extra money.

Ordered my 04 EX V6 (no navi) Friday in Eternal Blue Pearl. They had to get it from another dealer. I am amazed at the amount of people who laugh at me for wanting a specific color. I liked how the graphite and silver looked (I wanted a dark interior), but liked the blue better. If I'm dropping 24,000 or so, I want to get the color I want. Can't wait to start driving it. It will be different from my 95 Saturn.

I am a new owner of a '04 Accord Coupe V6-EX in Black. Ride has been awesome except for several defects that have caused me to return to the dealer several times. Other than the constant washing to keep the dust away I love how my black car looks!

Hello everyone. I just bought a Blue 04 EX-L/NAV sedan and Im LOVING IT!!!! Had a 93 Accord EX coupe and she was a sweetheart. But this new one, whew! The V-6 is a big jump over my old 4 banger. Takes some getting used to. Trying to be good while I break her in. But sometimes you just want to get away fast.
Hit the gas and sssswwwwooooooshhhh! And with XM playing your favorite tunes over the improved stereo. I think I may need a good radar detector. I like the Escorts. See ya out there.

I also have a Silver 04 EX V6 w/Nav... I added the spoiler, visor, fog lights, flaps and tint.... only problem is that the odometer seems to run fast... already has 18k in 6 months and I only work 9 minutes from home. Must be all those trips up and down the east coast... the urge to stomp on the gas has not subsided, and the car seems to be even faster now than it was in the first several months... I have never had the desire to try 87 octane either, though I'm sure it would run just fine. My only advice is to keep an eye on that Navigation joystick, they sometimes have a tendancy to fall off and disappear. This car continues to amaze me every day. My only advice is to swap out the factory speakers for some good Polk's or JBL's - believe me, it will sound even better than it does now. Enjoy your new Accord!!!

I have 87 in my tank right now. It was OK the last couple days. But when I started the engine today with the door opened, I felt the engine vibrated a little bit more than usual. I could feel the opened door vibrated too. But when I drove it, it felt normal. I need to drive it a lot more to see the difference b/w the octanes. It's a long story but basically I didn't have to drive my Accord everyday. However, I'd drive it more in the future. I plan to switch to 89 and 93 to see if there's any differences.

The trip computer reported I averaged 27.7 mpg in my last tank. My calculation resulted 26.7 mpg.

So far I've gone with 87. I'd like to stick with it during break in. The manual says 86 or above,
so I'm trying to stay the course. Besides these
gas prices are getting a little high. 87 is going
for $1.67 here in Philly. Afraid to try 89, I might like it.

I have my dream car....a '93 Accord EX with manual 5 speed that I bought about 7 years ago. Also have a Miata and an old Bug convert but have not seen a need to upgrade. My dad was a Lincoln Mercury dealer and we always had new cars when I was growing up. In the 60's those cars were some low class classics ( except the Lincoln Ellwood Engle slabsides)
Have heard several of you mention '93's. A great year( IMHO).
I know this is old news to you Honda veterans but although Hondas are great, why fix something that ain't broke? I'll bet the new cars are awesome but I may retire this one to a garage somewhere for the good service it has given me.

Just purchased my 4th Honda and 3rd Accord yesterday. It is an EX-L in Redondo Red. It will be delivered this week and I can hardly wait. I'll miss my old one though. After 226,000 miles and 10 years with only 1 issue (replaced a master cylinder at 200,000) except for normal service, you get attached!

And, that's why I'm getting another Accord. I found cars that handled better, others that were cheaper, others that have similar reliability, better gas mileage, etc. None have it all, but the Accord is the closest, and the best value.

So I'll stick with the Accord (until I can get that S2000 anyway!)

We added a 2004 Redondo Red EX-L manual transmission to our driveway last night. I have not seen it yet and can't wait. She is having fog lights, front chin spoiler, cargo net, rear spoiler, and splash guards installed.

My tale-
I purchased a 2004 Accord V6 Coupe, silver/black, about two weeks ago. My ex-wife has a 1994 Accord and it has been a great car for her - 150K miles and in great shape. I traded a 2001 BMW 325 coupe manaul trans. The only car I have ever traded in but did not want the hassle of selling it. Super car but I was in a higher tax bracket when I bought it and did not want the maintenance costs. I also wanted an auto transmission. I have driven manuals for years and just wanted to be lazy for a change I guess. I also swapped out the 16" wheels for 17" wheels and better tires. Big difference! Anyway, I am really enjoying this car and do believe it is the beginning of a long friendship. Cheers!

I bought a 2004 Honda Accord Coupe EX V6 in Blue in the beginning of June. I love the black leather and silver accent on the interior. I added a spoiler and fog lights. I love the car...it is fantastic! Much better than my '96 Grand Am Coupe

I just got a 1990 Honda Accord EX last week. and did not think I would like it, but I REALLY DO! I just have a question, (or 10):-)) Although an automatic transmission, there is a button on the side of my shifter that says "sports"...What is that for exactly, and when am I supposed to use it? Someone told me to only use it in the mountains, but i wonder.....

I recently bought this car from another individual, and I notice it pulls slightly to the right. Had it aligned twice, but problem always seems to come back. Now a rattle appears in the drivers side window (somewhere). Any suggestions on the steering problem especially, it's too nice of a car to be driving me nuts like this.

got it yesterday, really like the handling and smooth ride, the cornering is so accurate, much better than my previous chevy.

  this morning, took my accord out of the garage,

found oil leak stain on the garage floor,

not sure whether the stain is from accord or my previous chevy: so park the car in the other side of the garage( i have 2 car garage) which has no stain ,put newspaper underneath the accord

  hopefully, i will see no stain tonight, otherwise, I have to ask the dealer to fix it or switch to another accord.

  any suggestions?

I PUT A DEPOSIT ON A ACCORD 2005 LX 4 DOOR 4 CYL OR $18,500(INCLUDING DESTINATION) AND THE DEALER ADDED FREE WHEEL LOCKS, DOOR LINING, MUD GUARDS, TRUNK TRAY. I'M IN NY AND I KNOW THAT I'M GOING TO GET KILLED WITH TAXES 8.625%

I'M GOING TO PICK IT UP ON MONDAY, AND AM WONDERING IF I GOT A GOOD DEAL, OR A GREAT DEAL.

+ $300 FOR SECURITY SYSTEM + 395 LOJACK. I'M PROBABLY GOING TO GET THEM BECAUSE I WILL BE PARKING THE CAR OUTSIDE.
