I think these are excellent offers, the 4 cylinder one is an awesome deal.
  • godeacsgodeacs Member Posts: 481
Not sure where you are but there are very few 07s left around here in Central Ttexas and most are LXs. The great deals on 07s were 2 months ago .....
  • godeacsgodeacs Member Posts: 481
Those are great deals considering there are even any 07s left! I wouldn't wait too long if I were you.... ;)

    thanks.

Does anyone else wonder how much cheaper Honda could sell Accords if they applied the (apparently extensive) ad budget to just discounting the cars?

I watch everything except live sports off of Tivos and normally skip through the ads, but I still notice that there are a LOT of Accord ads. I know they need to get the word out to the uninformed that the Accord is all new for 2008, but they seem to really be pushing it.

On a related note, I notice Camry and Altima lease deals seem really cheap in their ads. I assume they are feeling the slow sales as "weather vane" buyers go with the newer design Accord? Accord deals got sweeter when the new Camry came out, IIRC.

Closed the deal with the internet dept. at DCH in Paramus.

Solicited bids from 12 dealers via the internet in the tri-state area and they matched the lowest and promised not to give me the business when I came in (walked out of one dealership that tried this).

I am not looking forward to dealing with the dealers when I get my 08 eventually. Some dealers can be so rude, and treat me like a dog. Its horrible. I wished for once I could go in, and do the whole thing casually without all the other crap. They act like were stupid. I told this one dealer, that believe or not, some other dealerships are discounting the 08's already. He's like no, not around here, he said that he believes that it is totally worth the full mark up. I won't go back there. It is sad, because they are local in my town, now I have to go outside town for one. That deal the other guy got on the EX-L V6 for the $25,900, that is amazing, and that is what I can get on the 4cyl with Navi, but now, who will match it. Im not going in the dealership alone this time.

Some people post prices however forget to mention that the price they mentioned did not include the down payment, trade or some other aspect.

I had a bad experience yesterday at a dealership.....can anyone tell me of a good dealership to work with in the Raleigh/Durham North Carolina area? even Burlington NC or surronding areas...also what is a good price to start off with or an OTD price for a 4 cyl (the 190 hp) ...also does anyone know what the 0 to 60 is on each of the engines?...also any other dealership besides Crown Honda of Durham...

"Does anyone else wonder how much cheaper Honda could sell Accords if they applied the (apparently extensive) ad budget to just discounting the cars?"
    _______________

My dealer told me Honda has dedicated more as a company in terms of resources and ad budgets to the launch of the 2008 Accord than they have any other car launch EVER. This may explain some of the good deals that some have found on the cars (including me!). They want to get this car out there so that people are seeing it on their TV's, in the magazines and on the road. And quite frankly, it looks even better in real life than it does on the screen! If they want to meet their goal of selling 380,000 of these in the first year, they are going to have to be aggressive. If the plan to build demand works well, you may see the deals go away by mid-year. It has happened before.

Why would they do this? Well, you have to remember that the Accord redesign is a leading edge for the redesign of their other vehicles over the next few years. Honda is going long.

I went into the dealership to discuss pricing on a 08 Accord EX V6 this morning. They asked to run my credit stating that that's the best way we can find the "best price" for you. They come back with payments, without even letting me know the price the payments are based on. I then asked them I'd rather discuss pricing in terms of Out-the-door numbers, and he brought me right back into the payments, (which were way more than I expected btw). I told him I was able to get a better deal at another dealership that I was working with, and he proceeded to say that these accords will not be discounted, and that they're too hot to be sold at the price that I was quoted (500 over invoice at the other dealer). Then his "manager" aka closer came in, introduced himself and tried his sales techniques on me. Long story short, they let me walk out the door without fighting for my business, quoted at msrp plus all the fees. He wouldn't shake my hand when I left... [non-permissible content removed]

Just returned from my dealer to see about my 08 Accord V-6 Auto/Navi. that i ordered last month. Sales rep said it would be in nlt than 10/22. Price w/o,TTL just over $29,000. No negotiation.
  • stkntrafficstkntraffic Member Posts: 172
Your first mistake was allowing them to run your credit before talking numbers. If something doesn't sound right, ask a question... how is running your credit the best way to get the best price?

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I bought an 08 EX-L V6 last week from DCH Honda of Temecula last week, and my buying experience was the best I've ever had. I negotiate with the Fleet Internet Sales Manager via email, and the (well below MSRP) price was set before I ever showed up at the dealership. When I got there, the deal was as we had discussed, and I only had to deal with the same guy through the paperwork process. That part took about 30 mintes. And I never had to see the dreaded "Finance Manager" either. Noone tried to sell me an extended warrantee or anything else I didn't want. I drove out of there with a new car, no headache, and a smile on my face. This was definitely the most pleasant new car buying experience I've ever had. If Temecula isn't too far for you, you might want to check them out. They had quite a few 08 Accords there also.

I am close on striking a deal on a 2008 Accord EX I4 automatic sedan. When viewing the following OTD quotes:

    a) my sales tax is 6%
    b) invoice is $22,559 (KBB), which includes destination of $595 or $635
    c) splash guards ($99) and trunk tray ($135) are included in the OTD; this is fine, since I want both
    d) dealer prep/doc/markup ranges from $350-550; the local dealers all mince up the price/destination/dealer fees, so I am negotiating on final OTD price.

    $23,939
$23,989 (includes wheel locks as well)
    $24,150

Now why do I not simply go for the lowest quotes, you ask? The two lowest quotes are from just over the state border, so it may not be worth the hassle to do the state-to-state paperwork; does anybody have experience buying a new car from out-of-state, and is it worth $200? The $24,150 OTD is in-state (from 2 dealerships).

I am thinking that it maybe fine to take the $24,150 OTD, as it includes the accessories I want as well. If I wait another month or so, I think I can get my revised target of $23,800 OTD, but I have worked over all the area dealerships very well (20+ dealerships), so I do not see them going any lower until the holidays. Plus, if I subtract the retail cost of the 2 accessories, that is $23,916 OTD, or $116 above my revised target. My original target was $23,500 OTD, but we bumped it to $23,800 OTD, working with people from this forum.

Too bad there are no sweet financing offers on the 2008 Accord yet. A local dealer advertised 2.9% on all 2008 Accords, but only if you pay at or near MSRP. Looks like 5-6.5% APR right now; has anyone seen better? I am glad I waited for the 2008 Accord, as its ride is significantly better than the previous generation (IMHO).

    Thoughts? Thanks!

    Mcpdjohn,
What city is the dealer in? S. Cali? How much did you pay for it, w/ or w/o Navi? If you do not want to state it here please send me a quick note at VIETSI2002@yahoo.com. I am also aiming for the V6 EX-L w/ Navi. Thanks a lot. Buying it via internet sale is cheaper and less hassle.
  • vietviet Member Posts: 847
    Mcpdjohn,

Do you mind telling me $500 over invoice is how much? or what's your OTD price? Thanks for info.
  • mcpdjohnmcpdjohn Member Posts: 44
    OTD= 29,869.06
    California sales tax (7.75%) = 2,130.18
    vehicle price including $635 destination fee= 27,083.13
alarm, tinting, and fees= the difference

This was for a EX-L V6 without nav, with wheel locks, splash guards, alarm, and tinting added.

Temecula, California is in Riverside County, as was mentioned, just north of the San Diego County line.

You're absolutely right. I'm new and I guess they sensed that. Well I have a couple other dealers that I'm working with, and I know more now than I did before with this experience behind me. I should have an Ex V6 by this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for the replies. :)

Finally closed the deal last night. 2007 Accord EX-L V6 with all dealer options (wheel locks, floor mats, splash guards, trunk tray, pin stripe, tint, moonroof visor). Paid $22,500 + TTL = $24,200 OTD. No tradein. Did Honda financing but that didn't make a difference in the price of car.

Thanks to all on this forum for your help and amazingly helpful comments.

What area of the country are you in? I am considering doing th same thing in the midwest (Ohio - Kentucky - Indiana) and have done shopped this way in the past but my more recent purchases justed eneded up being in my home state and I did not have to confront any problems. Curious as to whether the EX Accord you are looking at also includes floor mats? (I saw a post on the Civc site where someone was having to pay extra for the mats).
  • rusted_outrusted_out Member Posts: 14
I'm in GA, and the two low-ball quotes were from SC.

About the floormats, I was planning on purchasing the
All-Season Floor Mats, $139 MSRP, installation costs not included ;) . On Honda's website, they say "Not intended for use with the standard carpet floor mats.", so I assume you get the carpet ones standard. You can find the genuine Honda all-season mats for less if you make a deal or shop around. The test drive Accord did not have any floor mats, maybe they removed them to keep them clean?
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
In that area, I would try Sam Swope in Louisville. I have sent a lot of folks to get cars from them - my boss, boss' son, friends, strangers, and my daughter. My S2000 came from there as well. They do have a hefty doc fee, but (in most cases) the discounted price more than makes up for it.

Let me know what you are looking for and I can try to get you a price quote - or you can just go through their web site for an internet quote.

As to floor mats, nearly every Honda now comes with them standard in any trim level. I know they should come with every Accord. They are not included with the Civic DX, however.

    Accord interior features list

The all season (rubber) mats are $102 plus shipping online from H&A, but shop around for the best price.

When should I try to trade in my 06 SE Accord with 25k miles on it? Anyone have any advice on when the right time would be, so I get the best value on my car and then a good price on the 08. Should I wait? I can only have 36k miles on it, so either way I'll have to trade before then. I go about 1k miles a month. I do not plan on putting money down, but want to get the EX-L 4cyl, navi. They told me a $0 down lease would be $435 to $475 a month at 27,900, which is not haggled at all. I want my payments to be in the $300's range. Thanks a bunch!

If you bought the car from a NYC car dealer, isn't the doc fee maxed at $45 by NYS. How did you pay $199?

Dealer in Queens: Hillside or Paragon?

What do you guys think about $24888 on an 08 Accord Ex V6 BEFORE TTL. That's 500 exactly over invoice. This is the lowest I can get from about 5-6 different dealers/brokers. I'm in SoCal if it matters. :P

    Chicago land
    MSRP $28,945

    27000+TTL (7.75% TAX for $2000.00)

    Hello all--

A dealer in the upstate New York area is advertising 2008 Accord LX sedan models- with automatic transmission, splash guards, all season floor mats, and a trunk mat, for the sale price of $ 20,390.00, as compared to its msrp of $ 20,795 not including the $ 400.00 worth of accessories listed above.

Good deal or no ? I was thinking yes- as the LX has the least amount of mark up compared to other Accord models- see the link below

    http://hondaalbany.liacars.com/index.htm?bhcp=1
  • jaxs1jaxs1 Member Posts: 2,697
$400 "worth" of mats and splash guards?
What would it cost you to buy that for from a discount website (assuming you wanted them at all for any price)?

If there isn't another car anywhere else you might prefer that you could buy for the same price or less, then it is an OK deal.
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702

    Hi there!
I was recently quoted 19,299 for a 2007 Accord SE + 464 (tint, splash guards, wheel locks) + 756.35 license plates and doc fees + 1595 tax in Phoenix, AZ. Total OTD $22,044. How does that sound?
Any assitance you can offer is greatly appreciated.
  • seeker12seeker12 Member Posts: 2
Got two prices today; only additional is DMV and NYS tax. First was $22,500 and second was $22,700. Actually going with the higher price because the first dealer came across as totally untrustworthy.
  • kablaaamkablaaam Member Posts: 4
Yeah, I went to a couple more dealers and they wouldn't even let me sniff 26k out the door for my car. I ended up getting what I thought was a fair deal at 24888 +TTL for my ex V6. Couldn't be happier actually. This is a mean car. :)
  • dolfan1dolfan1 Member Posts: 218
That's a fair deal. You might get them down a bit but if not I'd take it anyway. Assume were talking V6. I'm going out to look for the same car myself.

I had something similar when I test drove a 2008 Accord at a Honda dealership in Anne Arundel County MD. First they did not have any manual Accords, so I drove an EX-L auto. The guy was very hard pressed to make a sale on the car I drove, despite the fact I wanted a manual. He offered me $500 off MSRP for the car. I told him I wanted to think it over, since I was looking at a Passat and a Legacy also. He gave me a speach on how I really should look at a 2007 if I was concerend about price. My retort was I'd just buy a used 2006 rather than a new 2007, because I wanted a 2008.

I ended up not locating a Passat like I wanted (2007 2.0t, Package 2, manual), so I started to sniff around for Accords. The guy called me back and I said "I'm interested, but I need to call around and see what other dealerships want for this car" and he told me "oh no dealership is going to come off MSRP for this car." (I knew that was a lie, since he wanted to sell me the one I drove at $500 off MSRP)... I told him to give me their price, for an EX-L Manual, which he told me was $26,910 + tags + title + advertising fee + destination, knowing full well the MSRP was $25,060 for that car. I said "oh ok"... The guy bugged me for a week, and I told him "I'm just not ready to buy, I'm too busy to buy" and he offered to come to my house to do the deal. I flat out refused to do the deal that way. At that point I was calling other dealerships, and many wanted to do the deal over the internet. I countered back each offer with my offer of $25,300 OTD (basically $400 over invoice + $635 destination + 5% tax + MD tag and title). Many dealers balked at this offer, but one dealership that had a EX-L Manual in Polished Metal Metalic in stock came in at $25,461 OTD (basically $210 over invoce + $289 dealer processing fee + $635 destination + the dealer cost of the add ons they put in + MD 5% tax and tags and title) I took the plunge and bought the car, despite being roughly $160 apart in price, because my 2004 Ram had the ABS system go crazy and I needed to rent a car to get around otherwise.

The guy at that Anne Arundel County dealership has called me twice since I bought my car 11 days ago. I guess he did not believe me when I told him I got the car for $3,000 less than what his dealership wanted for the car.

Long and short of it is, on 2008 Accord sedans, call around, because you can make a much deal better than MSRP right now.

PS... This deal I made had no trade in, and was financed by a local bank's loan officer (not the dealership's loan office)
  • jaxs1jaxs1 Member Posts: 2,697
What is "+ the dealer cost of the add ons?" That could be anything. I would be skeptical of any "dealer cost" claims of accessories since they know you cannot verify this.
The $289 dealer processing fee is high, but $489 over invoice for a 2008 is still good depending on the add-on's extra cost.
  • mvbrockmvbrock Member Posts: 5
Just to give you a gouge.....I just got a 2008 accord 4dr ex-L no money down 12k/yr lease.....no nav....V-6......for $379.00/mo buyout roughly $18000 at the end of the lease...
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
"$25,461 OTD (basically $210 over invoce + $289 dealer processing fee + $635 destination + the dealer cost of the add ons they put in + MD 5% tax and tags and title)"

A little on the high side however what is important is that you like the car.

    Master RYU,

Talking about car dealerships, all they care is money. Whoever pays them better they will swallow their honesty and sell cars to them. They dont care if you are black or white, Asian or Caucasian, etc. All they care is your deep pocket and your willingness to sign contracts which are favorable to them.

I am looking for an Accord Sedan '08 V6 EX-L w/ NAVI too. But I do not need to buy it right now because I am currently having 3 Accord V6 EX and 1 I4 at home. I wait for a few more months until dealers beg me to sell me the V6 EX-L I want.

Good luck to you. Be patient. Talk with other dealers. Buy it thru Internet Sale Dept. Remember, Honda plans to sell almost HALF A MILLION Accord '08 in the US. You will have plenty of discount ahead.
