1968 Mustang California Special

i have a 1968 Mustang GT/CS. it has a 289 with an automatic transmission, power steering. the finish is in good shape but there are a few nicks in the paint. the engine runs great. i am thinking about selling it and wanted to get some opinions on how much this car might be worth.

But, at a recent Ford meet I attended, there were a couple of these on display. Personally, I still don't care for them but it appeared that a lot of other people really did!
My guess is that they might bring perhaps 10% over what a regular '68 would but I could be wrong on this. Shifty?

Seriously, My guess is probably in line with yours... Say it's a coupe with, say, a 390 4V in it... I'd guess that its' worth about 10% or so more than, say, a 390 GT Coupe. I think that assumes that the CS-only parts are all there and in nice shape.
With scarce cars like a GT/CS I think its' more of a "how much can you get for it" type of thing.

If anything, there is no performance implication. I seem to have in my head that they aren't even necessarily a Mustang GT. I'll bet you could order a 6 cylinder/drum brake GT/CS.
To be fair, I don't think they are bad looking. Probably would be a cool car for some serious motor installation (a 390 to 427 swap for instance) while keeping the stock appearance.
The "California Special" was a standard 1968 Mustang Hardtop specially outfitted with several dress-up trim items. Among these were a blackout grill, rectangular fog lights, the functional louvered hood, special striping effects, side air scoops, wide tail lights, rear deck lid with built-in spoiler, and a pop-open gas cap.
The GT/CS promotion was limited to under 5000 units. Among its most distictive features may well have been its name since other than trim items, the car had no special handling or engine modifications."
I think they were mainly sold in the Kansas City MO/KS market and in parts of eastern KS..
I THINK that they were based on Mach 1s. But I dont know mustangs all that well. IIRC, there was also a similar model done with the Torino.
