Looking for code 42 explanation on GM 2.8 liter

I'm driving a 87 Celebrity. The computer is posting a code 42 and I'm looking for someone who knows what sensor I need to check and how.

    Code 42 is the EST (Electronic Spark Timing) circuit.
    Check all connections to the ignition module and ECM.
    Then clear the codes and retest.
    If the code 42 comes back, then it will be time to aquire a DVOM (digital volt/ohm meter) and do some testing with the help of a diagnostic flow chart.
