MSRP: $29,850

What do you guys (and gals) think? Should I aim to get the total price lower? And the above is only if I finance with the dealer at a couple points above market rate for 6 months, thereby paying about $322 in interest each month for the first 6 months, or just over $1900 in interest for the first 6 months. They said if I paid in cash that the price of the car would be $1,200 higher.
Here's what I ended up with for my 2012 Sonata GLS with PEP, Remote Start & Floor Mats:
$20,334.04 GLS including Dest Fee & options
$250.00 Adv Fee
-$500.00 Trade In
$1,782.46 Sales Tax
-$1,000.00 Rebate with 0% financing for 3 yrs
$133.50 Plate Transfer Fee
-----------------------------------
$21,000.00 Out the Door
I received an offer of $23,250 "Out the Door" broken down as:
$21,095 Initial Quote with Rebates
+ $775 Freight
+ $389 Processing Fee
+ $631.77 Tax (3% in VA)
+ $50/60 Registration/Title/Emissions
------------------------------------------
$22,950.77
+ $1,400 (I didn't qualify for Rebates: College, Military, Hyundai Owner)
- $500 72 mos finance rebate Hyundai Motor Finance
- $600 Dealer Holdback
------------------------------------------
$23,250 "Out the Door" - Includes Floor Mats, Cargo Mat, Mud Guards, & Remote Start
Their dealer includes a program, Lifetime Engine Guarantee, Lifetime VA State Inspections, Lifetime car washes, 1 yr warranty on Interior and Exterior, Discounts on service, wheel locks, nitrogen in tires, and pinstripe(which I don't know why I'd need)
Is this a good deal?
I have searched the 'net and this is the best deal I can come up with.....(and this is not an "out the door" price.
2013 Hyundai Sonata 2.0L Turbo 4-Cyl Automatic SE MSRP: $28,955.00 Savings off MSRP: $665.00
.
Internet Special: $28,290.00
this is in Texas.
If I were you I would grab the deal.
I first started with researching different forums to get an idea of what people were paying and around $23.5k was average, then got quotes from dealers in the area - 70 miles, told everyone the lowest quote then went from there. Double checked using True Car and this was all through email back and forth. I finally emailed back a dealer who said the initial quote of $21k was a great number and she couldn't do it, rationalized what I thought it should be out the door and she soon found she could do it.
I don't see how a car could cost more in Texas other than limited quantity and because Texas is so big, depending on where you live dealerships are probably few and far between. If you wanted the car try True Car, join a group that offers Hyundai Circle Plan A pricing(employee's family/friend pricing), and then quote, play against and rationalize.
I just Googled 2013 hyundai Sonata Turbo SE and found that 'with navi' a dealer in Washington state wanted over $33,000!
That's an OMG if I ever saw one!
I actually got them to drop another $250.00 to make it $23k OTD.
And my mistake, there is no remote start only with blue link. But in any case I'm pretty sure that's still a good deal.
I havent had to buy a car in forever...
My ideal car is the 2.4L Hyundai Sonata Limited w/ Nav Package
Black / Wine Interior.
Nyc dealers seem to start them at 31 / 32000 when running the numbers
and making it out to be 512 x 60mo or 467 x 72 mo with a 4/5K down payment.
My Ideal payments are 300-450 / 3-5 yrs
This is in NY so tax bumps it up a couple of thousand.
Ive been going to diffferent dealers all week and I need a car pretty soon by the weekend or by the end of the month.
Dealers dont seem to have too many of the limited in stock much less the exact one I want.
I was thinking maybe I should just get a cheaper car like a Honda Civic
and use that for the next year with low monthly payments (possibly higher interest rate)
untill I have saved more to put on a down payment for the Sonata.
Since you already bought it, it's really too late to worry about whether or not you got a good deal. Enjoy the car!
Could you please send a scan or photo of the OTD price of 23K which shows the MSRP? I am trying to get hold of the dealer to match your great price, but he needs to know the MSRP, color and any special accessories you got?
It would be helpful if i get that quote.
Thanks a ton
I just purchased a 2012 Hyundai Sonata/PEP $23045 MSRP (Front and cargo Mat, Cargo net, Ipod cable, Remote Start and Mug guards)
$20500
+$620 Taxes
+$229 Dealer Fee
+$40 Tags
- $2000 incentives ($1000 Bonus Cash, $500 Owner Loyalty, $500 Eco trade)
Also I got 13500 for my trade 2009 4cyl Sonata Limited 57000 miles
$19389 - $6000 trade equity = 13389 OTD.
Good Deal?
$325 per month. And I am getting $5000 cash-back from my trade-in 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE (Fully Loaded) with unibody damage.
I am getting a similar deal of $268 per month for 2013 Sonata SE with Nav+Sunroof.
This is a 4th july deal, so need response fast.
What I essentially think is that they are giving me $7000 for my trade-in, and paying $2000 for the down payment.
Please tell me if this is a good deal or not.
P.S: the SE full price came to 25700, and Limited came to 26800.
$22,500 OTD after rebates, taxes, and fees.
(Traded a 2007 BMW 328xi Coupe 57K miles for ~$17,500.) Considering I lost about $1,000-$1,500 in what I expected in trade, looks like your quote of $23,400 is right around me. You could probably do better but I'm not a good haggler.
I don't know where you are but I bought mine in PA with sales tax of 6%... if it makes any difference. It's also not white which costs $200 more.
You might also try going back to the higher of the first two dealers and let 'em know you got an offer for ~$23.4 and see what they say?
I was little stressed about it last night after signing all the papers - thinking what if I could have done better... :shades: ehhh it's done... just going to enjoy it.
Enjoy your new ride!

Also, did you notice an improvement in mpg after the car was broken in? Thanks

I was cruising at 85 mph the other day and thought I was doing 70. I didn't even have the pedal pressed that far down. It's one peppy vehcile. Good luck and happy waiting.
One of the dealer has made a counter offer of $23,000 otd. MSRP was about $24,400 for a 2013 SE with push to start. 7% tax in GA. Is this a reasonable offer? I just feel like it could be less. (No other dealer is willing to match this price) My bf thinks that I am asking for too much and this a good offer. I am thinking about waiting until Black Friday or even Christmas to buy a car. Do you guys think prices will drop lower by then? I am in no rush to buy a car, but I would love to one as soon as possible. Please give me your opinions. Thank you!
Don't wait until November.
Either way, go on Muller Hyundai's website in Philipsburg, NJ and check out their inventory. While navigating, you shoudl get a pop up screen from the internet mgr. asking if he can help you. Simply respond with the model you want with all the options and he'll get back to you with a great price. It was better than any price i got in PA but I finally got my local dealership to match it.
MSRP: $29,810
INVOICE: $28,118
-$3,313 (Global Discount)
-$1,000 ($500 HMFC Rebate, $500 Eco-Trade Bonus)
-$500 (loyalty if qualified)
SALE PRICE: $24,997
Appreciate your help.
As for the "best" price, I don't know if there is such a thing. If they let you drive the car off the lot at an agreed upon price, then they made "something" on the transaction, but how much we'll never know. The bottom line is if you love the car, just go with the deal you feel good about.
I looked at other makes before deciding on a Hyundai and the discounts I was seeing didn't even come close to the deal I got on my Sonata so I'm happy with my decision and my purchase price. Good luck & enjoy the ride. It really is a very nice car and we love ours.
