I'm sure those pics are fake, but they may hint at the next Accord. Looks like they Camry-ized it.

"Raining on BMW's parade? This is the car that should change your view of Mazda. Remarkably, the replacement for the feeble 626 is more than worthy of mention in the same breath as BMW and VW"...
"Even the likes of Mercedes would do well to cop a feel of the Mazda's dashboard"...
They praise the car's good looks, excellent handeling and the 2.3l 4cyl. impersonation of a V-6. The main critisim is for a lack of sound insulation.
They state that the 2.3l car will go 0-62 in 8.9 seconds. In the same issue, a Ford Mondeo ST220 with a tuned 3.0l Duratec V-6 sprints 0-60 in 6.8 seconds.
The Mazda will be called the '6' in Europe and America to replace the 626. It will replace the Capella with the even cooler name 'Atenza.'
New ideas for Mazda car names:
Mazda 1
Mazda 2
Mazda 3
Mazda 4
etc.
I think my point is thus clear.
As for the difference in names...
it may or may not cover up performance.
The Nissan Silvia/240SX had different engines
as far as I know. The 626 in Europe was sport,
the 626 in Europe said 'overpriced Taurus'
in its later years.
The difference in name may or may not cover up difference in build quality. In any case, I would rather have a European Focus or a European Mazda 6 than what we will see here.
Anyone know where the Mazda 6 will be built? Will they use the Flat Rock, Michigan, plant for it?
That's where Cougars and Mazdas are put together now... Cougar ends this year, though.

Among other things, it says we will get the sedan in August, with the hatch and wagon coming a year later.
They're falling behind.
I was suprised that the sedan had the following feature: "Flick one lever and the cargo floor gets flat and vast as the rear seatbacks drop forward. Seats up, the 6 sedan already provides more cargo room than anything else in the class at 17.7 cubic feet." I thought the hatch and wagons got the Karakuri treatment, but I hadn't previously seen that the sedan gets it too. Cool!

However, there are currently NO BMWs sold in the States that have clear taillights. IMO, Some cars look good with the clear taillights but MOST of the cars with aftermarket clear taillight add-ons are not in that category.
I'm sure someone will import and sell those taillights. I kind of like 'em, but I wouldn't be willing to pay extra for them.

Yes, I hate clear tail lights. Won't buy the 6 if it has them. Won't buy the Altima for the same reason, which otherwise is a very good, uh Passat, looking car. Anyway, if the Wagon or Hatchback 6 makes it to the U.S. without those crazy tail lights, Mazda has a sale.

The 6 should have clear taillights as a no-cost or minor cost option or accessory.
'6' is not enough of a name. I like the Japan-market name 'Atenza.' You'll be sitting next to some guy in a bar someday... "I have a 6" and he'll say "that's BMW's nicest coupe" and you'll have to get into a BMW/Mazda screaming match. It's bad enough already with the Lincoln/Lexus LSes.
Kind of strange... The photo car in CAR magazine and the Auto Week articals are both silver 4-doors and almost look like the same car. However, they have slightly different licence plates: CAR= LEV-ME-602 and AutoWeek= LEV-ME-684.
2) since the 6 is not officially on sale yet, those are temporary plates issued to manufacturers, hence the proximity of the numbers

You're not selling it because of the repairs are you? Those repairs seem like normal maintenance depending on the mileage of you car.

More importantly, the wife is 6 months pregnant with our 2nd, so she doesn't want to drive around in an older car that she no longer feels comfortable with.
Side note: never argue with a pregnant woman. If you are wrong, you're wrong. If you're right, you're a jerk! ;-)
It's odd, the car was perfectly reliable for the first 5 years, but since then it's been awful. I had an Escort for the same amount of time, but with 33k more miles and it only needed major service twice, and cost us less than half overall.

Juice, I'm suprised your wife doesn't want a van instead of the 6!

I had some fairly heavy repairs on my 1991, last year, then it tamed down a lot and works very well.
I just put on some KYB shocks and really like the difference in the ride.
Boy do I agree with your argument statement, mine just hasn't stopped.

I bet the average buyer has no idea who actaully makes a Miata. "Honda right?" duh
The plates are, in fact, no temporary ones, but official German license plates. Mazda, like other producers/manufacturers buy "their" distinctive plates. Explanation:
LEV = abbreviation for Leverkusen, a city near to Cologne where the German Mazda Motors is registered
ME = two letter combination standard in Germany. For Mazda the internal "bridge" is Mazda Europe
... = digit combination, possibilities from 1 to 4 digits
I. e. two different cars, two different registrations.
