But to my dismay, the dealers in the area don't seem to know of the change. Does anyone else have similar experience? How accurate was the info from buyatoyota.com in terms of what the dealers offer in your region?
Anyone have any experience with this type of thing? Is it really a significant discount or does the price still come down to the buyer's knowledge (i.e., doing your homework before going to the dealership) and bargaining skills?
Do you guys think that LO jack is something I may need for a camry? I live in northern NJ.
I think you know the answer... It is just marketing..

For those who follow these threads, I am still waiting for a build date on my SE-V6 that was ordered on May 16. Because of the delay, I now have the pleasure of paying 7% sales tax on my car. Also, I see that Toyota is raising prices effective with cars built on August 28th. I hope that my next fight is not with the dealer who wants to pass along an increase to me in spite of a signed contract from May. Toyota raised prices when the '07 Camrys were introduced this year and is raising them again. I'd like to know the reason for two increases in one year.
Can you give us some more specifics about that statement? What is source on that? How much increse on what model?
These is a basic Camry with no added features.
they said the VIP security systems are not available with them, they provide auto mate security which is $600.
so is the engine immobilizer an antitheft device? how does it work?
Thanks.
I would like an explanation from TMUSA concerning their failure to set a build date for my SE-V6 as well as the need to raise prices twice this year on the 2007 Camry in the face of rising profits at the company. Any efficiently-run company should have been able to fill my order within 6-8 weeks or given me an explanation. My customer rating of this company has dropped to less than satisfactory and that's before I've been able to use their product. :confuse:
concertkey, was yours special order?
I think I am just taking the normal no-fancy LE, that is why They told me on Monday that the car will be coming in on the week of aug 21st. Let's see what happens.
Now, I'm just going to be happy with my Camry now and put money away to buy something more customized (Corvette? BMW5??) next time . I just get the feeling the both Toyota and the dealers have grown too big for their shoes.

I hope your car comes in on time so that you avoid the increase. I also contemplated buying a stripped LE-V6 but I would want the Aloe Green color and they don't make that many in that color.
My 1992 Camry has 143,000 miles on it and is still running well. It broke down twice this past year which is why I decided to attempt the purchase of a new one.
Are you still going to buy a new camry? With the problems reported in them, I would rather pay the extra and get a new avalon if I was truly needing a new car and had a family. Alas not kids, so a fun car would be very exciting.
If you look at the Toyota commercials and print ads, you will see that the SE is prominently featured in many of those ads. in light of that, is Toyota participating in deceptive advertising by pushing the car and then refusing to make enough of them? If you go to a mass retailer on the first day of a sale, they, by law, must have enough product on hand or be subject to legal penalties. You cannot advertise something that you cannot produce. Is Toyota violating any laws with their willingness to take deposits on the SE and then ignore the customer for months? Any lawyers out there willing to comment on this line of reasoning?
They should be able to give you a build date easy enough for a US made Camry tho.
I'm no lawyer but I'd throw your complaint out of the court. Supply and demand are only half controlled by Toyota. They have a supply they are able to physically meet and if there is an unusually large demand then normally that simply drives up the price. If they have their factory making the maximum number of cars possible I think you're being unreasonable.
My assumption would be that the deposit gets you in line and keeps someone from getting "yours". Some dealers on the TCH have not taken deposits, but when the car hit the lot it was first come with no holds. I prefer the deposit method.
In that case if you feel that way you can probably go to a GM dealer and get what you want sitting on the lot OR they can make it for you in 4 weeks assuming the plant is still open.
Complaining about build quality or bad service is one thing, compaining because you want a car they can't make enough of is another.
If I could, I would publish the name of that sales dude.
I am a new meber here.
I see that you have ordered an '07 Camry LE.
I am also about to order one, just working out the prices with dealers. Could you plz tell me what is the OTD price you got on ur car.
I got an OTD price of $21000 for a basic LE with no options. This is in tampa FL.
I see in some msges that the prices r going to hike..is this valid for LE also...
The dealers are already giving me dates in 1st week of September. I am confused....Is it really true that all thses Camrys are out of stock ..or is this just a Dealer cooked up SCAM ...?
Thanks in advance
I called the dealer to cancell the contract as it will take more time for the car to arrive. The dealer told he will not send any written cancellation. Oral cancellation is ok as I had not taken the delivery. Do I need to have a written cancellation or oral confirmation is OK as I have not taken the delivery of the vehicle?
I am also purchasing in Tampa, FL.
I just signed on a base 2007 Camry LE at Toyota of Tampa Bay. They currently have zero Camry's on the lot, but I ordered one that should be in within a month.
Toyota of Tampa Bay is offering $300 below Invoice on the CE and LE (and the SE, I think). This special is only available through their internet department. All you have to do is ask the talk with internet sales when you go to the dealer, and you get the special with no haggling. I couldn't believe this!
My base automatic LE came to $21,200 after tax, tags, destination charges, and fees.
Hope this helps you out!
Andrew
Also if you don't have to have a car right away you might wait till Christmas time to get a deal.
Did you get the VIN# of the car on ur purchase order?
I am sure you are getting it in a much cheaper price. Please share yours.
I'm wondering if it is a good deal.
A dealer of st. louis offerred $19932 about camry.
They said it was in short supply.
Can I do a better deal?
If so, what dealership is the best?
Please share your experience.
