    I have a 2000 nubria wont shift out of park No brake lights, I replaced the brake switch 3 times to make sure and all the fuses are good, I recently replace all the disc brakes then this happened. Any suggestions. Do the brake lights run in series?

    on my 2001 lanos,my turn signal and 4 way hazzard lites do not work..Started out just not flashing (but would lite up)..Now they don't even lite up in the dash or outside the car..tried replacing the relay under dsah..still not working..all fuses look OK..

    I ve been an owner of this Lanos 1.5L 2002(2dor hatchback) and I must say for the money it has been a real good car.Followed proper maintenance at the dealership and seriously can t complain.Timing belt was change at 100 00 km.systems flush at regular intervals as per manufacturer and I even got a brand new A?C installed in it last year for next to nothing(Originally didn t bougth it with AC)Gas mileage 41 mpg on highway at speed of 120kph.The only glitch I have are the windows(driver/pass)have a tendency of coming down on their own barely noticable(nopwr windows).Winter driving up here in Canada has been great too....toobad no more new Lanos are on the market.Mitsubishi dealer(previously Daewoo)have been great for customer service here in Moncton NB.

    I have had my 1999 Leganza CDX for over 10 years now, and it still runs, drives and feels like brand new. I cannot say the same for any of my friends who had to change their transmissions up to 3 times in the first 100K on their Accords, and then get rid of it, or the ones that had to replace their seized engines because of oil sludge in the Toyota's.
    BTW, if you want a new Lanos, they are selling now rebadged as the Chevy Aveo, Pontiac Vibe and Suzuki Swift. The new GM world vehicle if GM ever makes it this year without going belly up will be the Chevy Kruze, also known as The Daewoo Lacetti which is the latest generation of the Daewoo Nubira.

    wow, man, long time no post. How are you doing? Thanks for that clarification on the Daewoo Lacetti being the new planned model Chevy Cruze. I thought it looked pretty familiar.

    I no longer have either of my two Kia's, I am driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. But I still realize the importance of Daewoo to GM, it was an entry manner for GM to start building cars for the Asian masses.

    I think that GM will go bankrupt eventually, and reorganize a stronger and leaner Company. I have a hard time seeing it go any other way, they are in so much crushing debt, and people aren't buying new cars.

    Nice to hear from you again. I remember some really good times on here for years sticking up for the Korean makes, facing tremendous resentment from the domestic carfanatics. Look how things have gone, Hyundai/Kia are surging, GM has taken the plants and resources and built some good cars for many markets through GM Daewoo Auto and Technology Co., and the domestics are going down the potter.

    I remember your '99 Daewoo Leganza so well, and how you have described it's various aspects through the years, and how it has lasted well for you. A lot of it is following the manufacturer's recommendations for routine maintenance, eh?

    I have a 1997 Daewoo Nubira wagon with an 2XR engine immobiliser. Intermittantly the immobilser won't turn off even though the cars indicators flash. When the key is turned to on the ignition lights don't come on and the car can't be started. I would like to either remove or disable the immobiliser. Can anyone help with information.

    Glad to hear from you again. Yes we still have 3 Daewoo leganza's in the family and all 3 are running great. I also am driving now a brand new car which is the 2009 Mazda 6. Still holding on to the opinion that you get the best car for the money, regardless of the make. What is ironic is I settled for this because the Korean car I really wanted was more expensive (Hyundai Genesis) . But I think Mazda did an outstanding job on the new Mazda6.
    Last year I drove my trusty Leganza down across the USA all the way from Toronto to Sunny Florida and back the next week. Very nice road trip. Not bad for a Daewoo, and I made it to Florida in 3 tanks full.
    If you go back to the historical posts, all my predictions did come true. The most interesting GM small cars today are Daewoo cars being sold worldwide. Including some SUV's (Saturn Vue is the Daewoo S3X). But like you said, I agree GM will have to go bankrupt at some point and come back as GM2. What would be nice is if Daewoo came back as its own brand, if GM does not make it. :)

    needed some settle money or something, and agreed to sell off it's interest in Daewoo back to Daewoo itself, such a thing might be possible. GM will not give up very easily, though, although this is gonna be a tough go for them. It's not lookin' too good.

    My Daewoo Nubira 2001 has a transponder inmobilizer system. The key for that is a small black plastic 2" stick, of which I have 2 sets, but any of those work. Since today when I turn on the ignition the system is not disarming (light won't stop flashing). I have the override code and sequence to do it. I did it twice, but it is not working. Is there any tip about the oveerriding that I should know or my system or keys are just out of order? What's the problem there and if anyone of you know the answer please help me.

    Car runs good, no smoke or high temperture.
    No water in oil, clean. no loss of power
    Not loosing oil or coolant.
    But foamy and thick in the coolant plastic bottle area.
    any Ideas? I thought I would drain and flush the radiator and refill.
    But concern about condition of the coolant?

    Oil in coolant is usually caused by blown head gasket, or leak in transmission cooler part of radiator....neither situation is good.

    Or do you mean, how to take the lug nuts off?
    Or do you mean, how to take the rim/tire off the vehicle?
    Or do you mean, how to dismount the tire from the rim?

    sure, You could have security locks on the lugnuts.

    Have the car jacked up, but perhaps can't figure out how to get the lugnuts off.

    Is that your problem?

    Car is jacked up and lug nuts are off. Tire and rim will still not budge. If it is seized up what would you recommend?

    tap the wheel with a rubber head mallet.

    Got it......now we understand what your problem is. This is caused by some corrosion or rust that has gotten in between the rim and the mounting flange.

    Correct, as the other poster has responded, you need to hit on the wheel a little bit. But, be careful. First, make sure the vehicle is well supported so when you are hitting on the wheel that you don't put enough pressure to knock it off the jack. Secondly, be careful that you don't dent or bend the rim.

    You can also try spraying with a little WD-40, but don't overdo it. Take off the lugnuts, and then around each lugnut spray some juice and try to get it in the joint where the stud comes thru the rim. You want to get the spray on the 'inside' of the rim, between where the rim would get snugged up against the backing plate by the lug bolt. Don't go crazy with the spray and get any on the brake disc or pads.

    If it is really stuck on, you may have to use the weight of the vehicle to break it free. In that case, put the lug nuts back on, but don't snug them up, leave them so they are just not touching the rim. Then lower the car back down on all fours, and start rocking the car back and forth sideways.

    We have tapped the wheel with a rubber mallet and a sledge hammer. We tried WD40 and liquid mechanic..
    We will try putting the lugnuts back on and rocking it. It is well supported by cement blocks. (Jack is to flimsy)

    You can even put the lug nuts on loosely (finger tight at best) and drive forward and back a little bit if you don't want to throw your back out. It should break free in the first few feet.

    Daewoo 2000 Lanos. Car will start then moments later it will die. When it's started I can push down on the gas pedal and it will rev up, but if I push too far down on gas pedal it will immediately die. It will run fine with engine starter fluid. Makes me think something to do with fuel. I can hear the Fuel Pump turn on. I've changed the Fuel Filter under the hood, Idle Control Valve, and Throttle Positioning Sensor. I'm now thinking maybe it's the Fuel Pump, Fuel Injector(s), Computer, I need advice before I go out and spend more money. I bought a ODB II code reader. Originally I was getting the P0120 code, but then I replaced the Throttle Positioning. Now no codes, perhaps I cleared the code by accident or the issue was resolved. Any advice of what my problem may be would be appreciated, thank you.

    I have a 99 lanos with 123,000 miles, I use it daily to deliver newspapers a couple of weeks ago she started overheating we pressure tested and found and repaired a leak lasted about a week then started again, pressure tested again and do not see a leak anywhere but looses pressure...thinking maybe on the right side wheel area? water pump???
    second problem started a week or so ago.,,wouldn't start but had lights and bells, caught with a jump..and then started next four or five times..then no...replaced negative battery cable as it was loose and could not tighten now she whirrs very slowly for two or three times then she eventually gets around to starting...does not seem to be a battery issue...starter going???
    We spent a fortune to send son#1 to WYotech should have sent the mama!!!!

    Sounds like the head gasket for the leak, and a new starter is needed. Have a 99 Leganza 2 starters went bad, exactly the symptoms you described ! As for your leak, my money is on the head gasket since you cannot find a visible leak, if it was the water pump, there should be signs of a leak. Good luck!

    I bought a 2002 Daewoo Lanos with only 51,000 miles on it about 11 months ago. I bought this car when gas prices were at $4+ per gallon, and I got stuck needing a new car at the wrong time. I've always driven small 4 cylinder cars and prices on them soared last summer right when I needed to replace mine. This Lanos was the only thing I could find in my price range so I fell for it. The only car I've ever owned that was actually crappier than this car was an '86 Ford Escort. There really is no comparison between this car and the other 4 cylinders I've owned. I've owned Volkswagons, Toyotas, Nissans, Fords, etc. and this Daewoo is by far the cheapest piece of crap I've owned since the Escort. I can't believe that South Korea pawned this garbage off on us. I think anyone who speaks favorably about these cars has either never owned anything decent like a Toyota Corolla, or they are simply trying to convince themselves that the car isn't as bad as it is and that they didn't make a huge mistake in buying it. The car is a rattley, thin walled, chinsey piece of garbage. My main problem is that there's no market for them so I know that I won't be able to re-sell it. If I thought I could get even half of my money back out of it I would sell it today and buy a Toyota or a Volkswagon. Ahhhh...I feel better now. Thanks for listening. :^) :lemon: :lemon: :lemon:

    I joined a couple of months ago and spent a week reading old posts. The info I got was right on. I purchased a shop manual from DaewooUS, $10 for manual and $25 for shipping. The manual does not have wiring or vacuum diagrams, so I recommend buying them at the same time as the shop manual to cut down on shipping costs. Thank you mr shiftright.

    Have a 2000 Leganza, 90,000 miles. I'm on my third timing belt (last one three months ago). Only driving 30 miles a week - last night the engine completely died when making left turn (had decelerated). Restarted immediately. Was only 2 blocks from home - made it but happened again as I pulled into driveway. Today, started fine and drove 3 or 4 miles. Any ideas? Other than problems with windows, no other trouble. (Driver's window won't budge, passenger window has to be opened from driver's side but will only close from passenger side but have to work with it), and sunroof no longer opens or closes. Can live with the windows but worried about total loss of power like that. Any suggestions or ideas? Does it have anything to do with last timing belt replacement? Thank you so much for any help.

    I'd look for a new mechanic

    Are you sure it's the timing belt being replaced, or the serpentine belt (which is normal maintenance)? Anyway, you shouldn't have to have a new belt replaced that is only 3 months old. It either wasn't replaced correctly, or there is something else wrong.

    Window problems sound like bad switches, or low battery voltage.

    Can anyone give me any help as to why my 2002 Nubira fails to start in hot weather. There is plenty of power when I turn the key but it just will not start.

    I have changed the fuel filter but that has made no difference.
    I have to wait untilthe weather has coold down in the evening sometines several hours before it finally starts, with no problem.

    My money is on the starter failing. If it is the same as the ones used in the Leganza, it is on it's last legs. That is how they behave before they go completely.

    I have a daewoo leganza 2000 sx. For about the past few months it started acting up with starting problems. It will crank over no problem but at times it will crank when you turn the key (but not actually start) and then make a pop like noise, like something broke and then right after that, you try and start it again and it will simply crank and not start. You have to try it a couple times before it cranks over again. WE changed the fuel filter cause we thought it was not getting fuel to the lines or something, (it then ran perfect for a week) had the fuel injectors cleaned, had the fuel pump checked, wires checked, relay checked and the dealer found nothing. Because the car did not act up once while they had it, they said it was like chasing a ghost! I really feel it has something to do with the fuel somehow but nobody knows what to do. There are times it will start without any problems for like a whole week or more. The camshaft was replaced in 2007. PLease anybody have this problem and know what to do????

    While attempting to raise the power windows on my 2000 Nubira all four power door locks suddenly began to simultaneously go up and down as long as the window lever was activated, while the windows stayed down...and remain down.

    My mechanic stated it might be the electronic control module (ECM) or body control module??. Regardless he does not have the computer to check it out. A previous Daewoo dealership want $100 just to look at it! Any suggestions? Thanx

    Recently I was driving my 01' Daewoo Leganza and the serpentine belt must have got caught on something (needed a new belt, had shreds coming off) and got shredded to nothing all under the car. I had it towed to my house via AAA. Bought a new belt for it, installed it, now the car cranks but will not start. Any ideas?

    Hi, I need to refill my steering fluid. The owners manual lists DEXRON III or DEXRON II D. I could not locate this in the Carzone. The Carzone guy suggested Coastal Multipurpose DexMerc. Although the bottle says this can suppliment DEXRON III, Coastal Multipurpose DexMerc is a ATF. As far as I know ATF should not be used as power steering fluid but Carzone had no other alternative.

    I am really confused - Is it OK to use this as power steering fluid?
    I would appreciate your suggestion/advice.

    Did you turn the pulleys by hand before you put the new belt on, to verify that all of the bearings on the accessories were free to turn, and not wobbly or bad?
