I am in NJ thinking about leasing a 320i.

If I get them down to a selling price I want (assume 500 over invoice), the standard buy rate and residual amounts, what else is negotiable? Can I say I don’t want to pay destination or doc fees? One or the other? I understand the taxes are not negotiable as well. Title fee? Assignment fee?
  • flightnurseflightnurse Member Posts: 2,217
You can try and negotiate anything you want, all the dealer can say is NO. Now before going in get all the facts, like money factor for this month and residual for the car you want. Once you have these numbers it will make it much easier to make sure the dealer wont try and take you for a ride.

Anyone know which BMW locations are having their $1000 drive event near NJ? all the ones around me are in July.
  • jasonmdbmwjasonmdbmw Member Posts: 117
Destination cant be negotiated and doc fees everyone has so you're going to pay it somewhere, might be able to find a dealer that charges alittle bit less than another. Title and tag fees, like taxes, cant be negotiated either as they are set from the state, not the dealer

Hi all! Does anyone have any thoughts on these numbers?

Curious what I should offer for this car considering the 2014 was just announced. Anyone have an idea of how low they would be willing to go? Or what I could offer them without offending them? Thanks!

2013 328XI only with premium package.

Can someone tell me if this is a fair deal?
No money down, just the first payment plus fees.
Lease is $499 for 12K/mi over 36 months.

If it's not a fair deal, can someone tell me what money factor and residual value would be a good deal.

I am not looking for shopping around. If it's a fair deal. I'll pull the trigger.

On Edmunds the Invoice Price is $45,765 and the dealer quoted me $46,814. He said the difference in price is because of the Costco price ($500) and Regional Adjustment ($549).
Is this a good deal? Is the Regional Adjustment value too high?

what's the msrp and negotiated price for the car? you should be looking at negotiating a price anywhere over $800 above invoice price. the money factor and residuals are not negotiable and are set by bmw financial.

That's what I just ordered, and it is in the "build" line for delivery in about six weeks, early August 2013. There wasn't another with my specs in the pipeline.

My salesman matched Edmunds' TMV. Later I saw kbb.com's Fair Market Value price a couple of thou less!

I'm pretty excited. Never owned a BMW car, but have had several of their bikes, currently an '05 R1200ST.

I ordered Alpine White, beige vinyl, wood trim, Sport Option (M steering wheel, M suspension, Sport seats, black headliner, staggered 18-inch wheels (8.0, 8.5) and performance tires (front 225/45, rear 255/40).

It has "tiptronic" but not as paddles on steering wheel.

Also has engine stop-start which I hope I can switch off when I wish. They'll substitute black carpets for the vulnerable beige carpets.

I know its barely July, but does anyone happen to know the money factor and residual for this month on a 2013 335i Sedan. I am also interested in the numbers on a 2014 version of the car, if available. Lastly, is BMW offering any incentives?? I always remember them doing some kind of promotion in Summer, like $2000 towards options on your car or something like that.

    Hi Carman and everyone,

I am thinking to finance a 2013 328i coupe with the following package.

    Navigation System
    Convenience Package
    Premium Package

The MSRP is $46575 and the dealer is offering $44000.
What is the price I should ask for this car since the 4 series is coming soon.

    Thank you.
  • zoombie99zoombie99 Member Posts: 320
I would wait for the 4 series. The should be giving away the 328 coupes by now.

    Hello,

I am looking to buy a BMW 328 xDrive (automatic) 4-dr sedan in Maryland. Any recommendations on the dealers in the vicinity of Rockville/Bethesda? Also, what is a good price for the 2013 model in the area? Lastly, how does this model compare with Acura TL?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
  • sbedi88sbedi88 Member Posts: 10
Having both a '10 TL and '13 3er maybe I could shed some light. You can't compare the 2. The TL is more comparable to the 5 series in drive and size. I'm happier with my 3er because, although the TL comes with better packages and is more fully loaded for a better price, you definitely get what you pay for with the 3er in terms of luxury quality and electronics. People may disagree with me but AcuraLink has been the same for the last 6 years. Same interface, same navigation, same everything. Idrive is nice because it is more integrated into the actually vehicle. For example, with idrive I can control whether I want my DRLs on using idrive, I can see what torque/HP I am pushing, etc. The Acura does come at a better price and the packages don't kill you, unlike the bmw, and if $$ is a factor I'd take that into consideration. Drive wise I think the TL is like the 5 series. The 3er has a raw, sportier drive and even though its on a 4 banger, it is faster and lighter than the TL (V6 around 300 HP).

Getting a good price depends on what options you're looking to get. People on this forum will tell you anywhere from 500-800 above the invoice.

    Good deal or not?

  • ppatppat Member Posts: 4
Appreciate your insightful feedback. I am a hard core Acura fan, especially the TL, having had an excellent, problem-free experience with two separate TLs over the last 10 years. Size and add-on features at a good price are very important but at the same time, I am looking to try something different this time around. Will consider purchasing an xDrive with Premium package, Nav and heated seats if the drive quality is significantly better than the TL and the dealer is willing to give me a good price. Looking forward to the test drive in a couple of days. :-)

    Thanks!

I'll be going to the Drive Event last week of July. I know theres a 1000$ incentive and $1000 on build out on a 3 series. Does this $2000 go in to the calculation after the negotiated price ?

    MSRP is $42375
    Negotiated = $39500

So after all the calculation suppose I have to pay $3500 down. Would this $2000 add to the down making my signing around $1500 or Can i have this added up front and bring the negotiated down from $39500 to $37500 ?

    Thanks
  • jasonmdbmwjasonmdbmw Member Posts: 117
What is the other $1000 incentive?
  • beamer55beamer55 Member Posts: 12
hey can I ask what dealear did you get this deal?

Did they tell you your invoice price? and did you have loyalty and the ultimate drive 1k?

    thanks!
  • shazi00shazi00 Member Posts: 13
    $1000 for buildout
    $1000 for BMW Drive Event

I haven't even been to the dealer yet. Will be going this Saturday and let you know what happens.
  • petersmith5petersmith5 Member Posts: 10
anybody know what the incentives will be like next month? is it better to buy now or wait until next month?
  • nypayznypayz Member Posts: 8
No one knows, but I'm guessing wait til next month. August is the dead of summer plus you're a month closer to the new models and the 13s must go..
  • jasonmdbmwjasonmdbmw Member Posts: 117
You stated the build out but just said incentive for the Drive Event. And you have to sign up and go to the event for the code to get it, so not everyone gets it. Not sure if your dealer already had it or not
  • shazi00shazi00 Member Posts: 13
    Hello Guys

So i ended up at the dealer today and kinda signed the papers also but now i feel like im being ripped off since it's my first time leasing a car.

It is a 328i base model with Alpine White and Black interior, Navigation, Heated Seats, Moonroof and Lighting Package

    15k mile lease
    MSRP = $42,375
Selling Price = $37,700 (inlcuding $1000 Drive Event and $1000 Build Out)
KBB Fair Price = $39,500 (excluding the above incentive)

So now this is where it's confusing for me. I live in NY and the sales tax is 0.0865% so does anyone know how the taxes are calculated ? Are they calculated on the selling price or the residual price or the amount of car that I am leasing (42375-61%residual = $16,526) ?

Based on their calculations, they're showing me $3300 for taxes which makes no sense. That looks like theyre charging me tax on the MSRP of the car.

To make it even worse, theyre asking me $5500 down payment (includes taxes, acquisition fee and $1800 as my down) and $340 a month.

So according to their calculation, Im paying $17740 including all taxes for a 3 year lease.

I am highly confused. Please help i still have a day to decide and tell them no otherwise they'll place the order on Monday for me.

    THank You
  • shazi00shazi00 Member Posts: 13
Ok nvm..i think the above works out. It is basically the taxes on the amount that I lease. If i add up the monthly and the 5500 down, comes out to about the same.

But i feel like i got a good deal. I will go in to another dealer tomorrow and see what price i get from there and try to match it.

Let me know if you need any info.

The KBB & Edmunds market values is the average of the actual deals *INCLUDING* the dealer processing fee. So first make sure that they're not adding the fee again. Also, I put in a jersey zip code in the Edmunds True Market Value estimator and came up with MSRP $42,375 and TMV of $38,843 before the incentives so your net price after incentives should be in the neighborhood of $36,843, including dealer fees. Now, if your dealer is extremely local like in spitting distance from where you live, he should be eager to work with you to match what you come up with based on Edmunds/kbb etc & you should be willing to go a little higher than these sites for the convenience factor IMO. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Also, use the Edmunds lease calculator and you should be very close (+-$2) to the monthly payment/tax #s.

Hi guys. I put down a deposit for a 328xi. Dealer said the car would be delivered after a week. After a week they called to apologize because the couldn't get the car. It's sold before they could get it.

They now offer a nearly similar car but not exactly the same. Moreover, I have to wait 3 weeks to get it, which I don't want to.

Do you think I can get my money back?
  • richzrichz Member Posts: 160
Sounds like they sold the car to someone else to make more money. I would insist you get the exact car you wanted. Obviously you can get your money back.
  • bmw626bmw626 Member Posts: 1
    Hi,

This will be my first time leasing a BMW. Can you give me feedback in the below deal that I was offered? Is this a good deal? What exactly does the dealer fee include? Thanks!

    2013 328xi
    15,000 miles per year/36 months
MSRP- $50,675 but negotiated down to $46827 (includes build out credit and ultimate drive event already)
    Sales tax-7%
    Money factor- .00120
    Residual- $30,911
Due at signing- $2000 (taxes, registration, first months payment, dealer fees, etc.)
    Monthly payment- $602
  • richzrichz Member Posts: 160
Get the sale price down even further. You should be able to get around invoice minus the $2000 (ultimate drive + build out credit).
  • shazi00shazi00 Member Posts: 13
As the other person said, look up invoice prices on kbb, true car and edmunds. Also look up the fair price on all three. For mine, the invoice price was $38,965 and the fair price posted everywhere was $39,500. I got the car at $39,500 and another 1000$ Build Out Incentive and $1000 Drive Event (If youre willing to make a deal with them, you dont have to wait for the code, they will put it in...that's what they did for me).

So the car selling price for mine $37,500. Make sure before you put any deposit down anywhere you go to another dealer to confirm the numbers.

The key here is to keep a margin of $500 - $700 above the invoice price if you're very good at negotiating. I got lucky my sales rep was really good and I feel like I got a great deal for a first time lessee.

That's not a bad deal, but with 2014 models in production I would aim for invoice or below before any applicable incentives.
  • flightnurseflightnurse Member Posts: 2,217
That is what GAP insurance is for, and for anyone leasing that should be gotten since the car will NEVER be right side up.
  • shazi00shazi00 Member Posts: 13
I live in a pretty good neighborhood not sure if I would think about my car getting stolen. Btw the drive off got it dropped down to $4500 with $340 a month. I know it makes no difference in the payment but id rather see more money a month in my pocket.

Also GAP Insurance ? Do I have to purchase that separate from the car insurance ? Any clue for the cost in that ?
  • flightnurseflightnurse Member Posts: 2,217
The premise of a lease is to put the least amount of money out of your pocket, there are many articles about leasing on Edmunds that will explain to you why you should not shop for monthly price..
  • shazi00shazi00 Member Posts: 13
    Hey Flightnurse

I understand. Everyone I know told me the same thing about no money down and have everything rolled in to the monthly.

I will do that in the future. Will see how this first experience turns out.

    THanks
  • swameeswamee Member Posts: 32
With MSDs, and all the incentives, its almost a crime to buy a bimmer outright now irrespective of miles driven. Have seen several scenarious where lease-to-buy is within a grand of outstanding loan amortized with the monthly lease payment at the end of lease term!

Hey guys. Just wanted to see if this was a solid price for a 2013 328i Sedan.

Automatic, Navigation, Lighting Package, Alpine White, Black Leatherette.

    MSRP: 40, 825
Invoice: 38,230 (including destination, $480 MACO and $180 Training Fee)

    My Price before Incentives: 37,700

    Incentives: $2500 ($1000 Build-out credit, $1000 BMW drive event, $500 Loyalty Cash)

    My price after everything: $35,200.

    How did I do?
