is it possible to purchase a EX-L model for around 28500 OTD?
I live in NYS so it would include the 8.75% state tax.

    Thanks in advance.

I got a Internet quote for 27211 including destination from a Boston area dealer. Is this a good price? It seems better than the Costco dealer quote which was just invoice price 27766.

Thanks, that is a great deal. Who did you deal with? I was just quoted an out the door 2013 CRV EXL for $30,174. It had "dealer add ons: pulse braking, Pro pack and EPP". I don't even know what most of that is. Working with McDavid in Houston.

Can you share the dealer info where you got the deal!!!

Folks, this is our forum on buying always post the dealerships name and city you live in. If you recieved a quote or purchased a honda CRV post it so every one else can determine pricing in that area. Edmunds only ask you do not post the names of salesman or people you dealt with... To many people in this forum are to general on ther postings. If you know the invoice price of the car post how much above invoice you bought vehicle for. When you post a Out the door price We need to now your State . Every state taxes vary , what add on's you have on vehicle, and what the dealer Doc fee's were .. This will avoid all unessarry posting

Need more info on CRV. Is it Ex fwd or awd. what is your state sales tax. How much are dealers doc fee's, what other fee's are you not disclosing. If your not keeping this car for more than 6 years this is not a good deal. On jan 1 2013 your 2012 model year is one yr old. So to make up the deprecation of the 2012 year you would need to be 2k below invoice. otherwise if you can wait 1 or 2 more months i'm sure you can get the same vehicle for invoice and have a 2013 model.

It is CRV-EX 2WD model. The taxes here are 8.3 %, dealer fees around 80 and DMV fees around 250. Hope this helps
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
Funky, here are the numbers on 2012 CRV Invoice pricing on both models.
    CRV EX FWD W DEST Charge $23,928 plus 8.25 tax=1974 total=$25,902
    CRV EX AWD W DEST Charge $25,099 plus 8.25 tax=2071 total=$27170
Your deal if its a CRV EX FWD Model 2012 comes to $440 below invoice. Now add the Dealers Doc Fee"s to your below Invoice price. When all said and done your getting this left over for maybe $200 below invoice.. THIS IS A BAD DEAL ON THIS MODEL. GOOD LUCK... Brian

What is the price that should be good for 2012 CRV EX 2wd and 2013 CRV EX2WD. I am planning to go tonight to the dealer and see if i can make the dealer hit the numbers.

    Thanks
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
TELL DEALER THAT INVOICE PRICE ON A 2013 GETS IT DONE TONIGHT. Tell dealership they have 15 mins to give you there best price.. That is your only goal tonight at this dealership... Price Price Price.. tell salesman to Make manager give you his best above price from invoice if he does not agree to Invoice on the car. Do not pay more than $500 above invoice... play the game. Do not buy the car tonight or get suckered walk out on dealer and leave your number if he wants above invoice that you find unexceptable. $500 above invoice gives dealer about a 1500 dollar profit on your purchase with his doc fee's included. read my prior post on how to buy online or buy phone. good luck

looking to buy 2013 CRV EX-L, AWD, NO NAV or RES (dealer installed roof rack, cross bars, window tint, wheel locks, nitro and cargo tray) in SC. ( tax, tag, title in SC should be about $700).
    Dealer quoting an OTD $31700.
I'm thinking $30,000 OTD is fair.
Any thoughts? What should I be paying?
  • drmazdrmaz Member Posts: 2
What's invoice price? Is that the same as MSRP or sticker price?
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
    edited October 2012
Check Edmunds pricing on your model.. MSRP is on the window sticker that is the sugested price. Dont ever go by msrp or sticker price.. always try to buy car at invoice price or below. every dealer gets a dealers hold back on every car up to 3% of total msrp or invoice price. more money for the dealer.

Does this Price includes the destination fees on edmunds.
I am getting this 2012 CRV-EX 2wd for 23488 incl of destination fees and OTD is coming out to be around 25800 (Incll 8.3 california Taxes, 250 DMV fees and some other 80-100 dealer fees)
How much should i be looking at OTD price in order to get a good deal on 2012 CRV EX FWD or 2013 CRV EX FWD.

Read prior post i broke it down for you. If i was buying a 2012 CRv take my invoice price posted on model above and minus 2k that to me is a good price. Dealer is taking you for a sucker that other price you were quoted is garbage its a bad deal dude. tell dealer he needs to go 1500 below the price he gave you for that 2012 model. If you buy at the price he gave you well then shame on you...good luck

I tried bargaining with the dealer but they seem to be very stubborn on the price of 25832 OTD for 2012 CRV EX 2WD. It seems like the best price in bay area though but I walked out with my final price to be 24500.
Let us see if they will call back.

Just got an 2013 EX AWD CR-V with mudflaps and Honda rubber floor mats for $25,800 plus tax & title. Cleveland OH area. Pretty happy with what we paid and we love the car so far. We were really torn between EX vs. LX but I think we made the right call with the EX. We plan to own the thing for a long time.

The answer to your question is sales tax should be capped at. 300. Tag is 24 title 15 . So it should be 339.00. They may add fees for their paper work. So good luck This is for SC only

I am going to go to a dealer in Bay Area today to negotiate for a 2013 CR-V LX model, 2 WD. What will be the good price to pay OTD for this model. True Car is showing an invoice price of $22,377 for this. Is that correct?
  • wds1wds1 Member Posts: 23
I received two price qoutes on 2013 EXL's. The 2013 EXL FWD was $26900 and the 2013 EXL w/NAV FWD was $28000. Tax, title, and fees added to $28305 and $28445.00, respectively. Both have paint sealant, wheel locks, splash guards, and pinstripe. We did not want pinstripe or wheel locks, but it seems they are already on there. I thought it was good prices, but see others are getting below invoice on 2013's. Should one forgo all prices at invoice and try to hold out for below invoice? All other price qoutes have been WAY above invoice!

Please clarify regarding the destination charges. When you mention making an offer based upon the invoice price are you including the destination charge? So for example, if I want to purchase a 2013 EX 4WD at "invoice" do I offer $24,456 PLUS $830 = $25,286??
  • wds1wds1 Member Posts: 23
Actually, I meant to say "$28305.00 and $29445.00, respectively" (EXL OTD and EXL w/NAV OTD).

Always try to get the best price below invoice 1st . make sure after you decide on best price with dealer your next negotiation is getting doc fee's taken off or reduced. Every dealer i speak to knows that if doc fee's are not taken off or reduced its probably a deal breaker.. In nyc area doc fee's are as high as $399. Then you add dest fee, tax etc. to get the out the door price

  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
Dest Fee's or the Port Delivery Charge that all consumers have to pay are always added onto.... After your Negotiated Car Price Deal along with Doc fee's, DMV,Taxes, etc. If you know a dealer charges 2 or $ 300 for doc fee/ paperwork fee's thats how much you should lower your below Invoice price to compensate for that charge..

The price on the 13 CRV FWD EXL w/NAV was $28000 with delivery fee of $499.00 and tax and title which added to $29445.00. They added wheel locks, splash guards, paint protection, and pin stripe into the $28K price. We told them not to put the pinstripe on the car. Also, we really wanted a cargo liner. Should we ask to throw one in for free? Please let me know if that is a good deal. Thanks!
