Anyone out there know what sensor or computer part I must change or reset to get a correct outside temp reading on the dashboard temp sensor?
The temp now stays at 136 degrees F, and the airconditioning is continually trying to compensate.
This is the only auto carwash I ever use, so I don't know if the mast was getting old and developing cracks or they have modified the carwash brushes.
The piece costs whopping $155 from local MB. That is the painted base and mast with the gaskets. Does anyone know of a site that has lower prices.
I found one on E-bay that has the base gasket and a black mast. I would like to get the original painted piece.
Thanks,
Joe
Should I always get a detailer to do it??
Pollen filter
1 Remove right cover below instrument panel
2 Move locking slide in direction of arrow and remove cover
3 Withdraw activated charcoal filter downwards
NOTE: Activated charcoal filte must not be cleaned but should always be replaced.
Dust Filter
1. Remove glove compartment. (undo light connector wire, undo two plugs, undo 6 screws, remove entire cover/box from instrument panel.
2. Push holding clips in direction of arrow and then remove cover
3. Pull out, push in dust filter
4 Install in the reverse order.

Two days before the kit showed up, I was told to go to the dealer and pick up the piece. I felt bad that they paid $150 for this. If I knew the replacement piece existed for $32, I would have paid for it and would not have bothered to complaint about it.

How did you get a warranty on a car with that mileage???
MB is a great car in any age and you will like it.
Here you can get lots of useful info :

It sure sounds like a brutal/annoying situation, but probalby not a surprise, given that MB cars are known to be relatively unreliable and to have considerable maintenance-costs.
I bought 2009 E350 and has 3K miles on it. When my wife was driving vehicle, suddenly wheel rim burst and lost air. I checked tire and was not damaged from outside or didn't see any stress where rim was damaged.
I believe that this is bad quality of AMG wheel but Dealers are not ready to accept.

Few questions:
1) Why MB always ask you to buy wheel and tire warranty for AMG wheels?
2) I have seen several post where people has described about the chip, crack in the wheel.
3) They always denies for warranty with outside force (including pot holes). How many pot holes in this country on the road and have you face any rim damage by pot holes on another vehicle?
I am IT person and this is simple logic that AMG low profile wheel are not designed properly to handle impact of small outside force.
We are paying high for vehicle with priority of safety for family members. But if this happens while you drive, your family could get hurt.
I have filed complain in NHTSA. I wanted to hear about your opinion or if you have faced this kind of issue in the past.
Thanks,
AD
It does appear to be impact-related, on the face of it, but that doesn't mean the rim wasn't defective to begin with.
I would contact Mercedes Benz of North America about this, and include the You Tube clip URL in your message; also, you can probably claim this damage on your comprehensive insurance policy, if your deductible isn't too high.
My personal opinion is that the dealer is wrong and this should be covered. AMG is owned by Mercedes Benz! It's not the same as a tire warranty.
If you are interested in maximizing spousal safety and spousal vehicle reliability,
I recommend you consider to purchase non-performance wheels & touring tires for your E350, independent of whether Mercedes will warranty the AMG wheels.
(If there is a smaller wheel / taller-tire configuration available from the factory, I recommend you look at that setup. )
I agree with your point about design: I understand that making wheels/tires more susceptible to impact damage is a mandatory/unavoidable tradeoff for performance wheels & tires.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
My understanding is that it you have an accident or something, you push the SOS button and mbrace tries to talk to you re: situation. If unable to, they call 911 for you. This is IF you have paid for mbrace-$285 per year. Let mine expire without renewing.
I bought one 2009 E350 on 3/27/2010. Same your issue, after one month, got the tire pressure warning started to repeatedly go on even with 3 separate inspections stating that they could not find a nail on the tire. We finally took it in to full service of Mercedes Benz , they found a crack on rim of the interior of the front driver's side. I have took a picture.
They suggested to replace a new rim, will charge $950.
We just bought this certified car over one month, drive less than 1000 males and we drive very carefully, never hit anything, also how can got the crack inside?
Since I used to drive TOYOTA and LEXUS over ten years, never met the rim problem, I think it is the rim quality problem (who made it, and what material is it), we should ask Benz to recall it, if it does not want to become the second TOYOTA in USA.
Please let me know how to filed complain in NHTSA
Hearing from you soon,
QBY
Anyway, I wrote down the VIN# and pulled a CARFAX. The car seems to have been serviced regularly, but, although they didn't scare me away, a couple things caught my attention:
01/17/2003 2,863 Service Facility Engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed; Engine/powertrain computer/module replaced
11/25/2003 15,511 Service Facility Engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed; Body noise checked
04/09/2004 21,430 Service Facility Manufacturer's recommended maintenance performed; Brakes checked; Sunroof slides replaced
01/18/2005 33,184 Service Facility Electrical system checked; Engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed; Anti-theft/keyless
remote battery replaced; Battery/charging system checked
07/13/2009 90,740 Auto Auction Sold at auction
in Pennsylvania, Listed as a dealer vehicle
Does any of this look unusual or should I be wary of seriously considering this car? It seems as though there have been some issues with the engine/powertrain computer/module, whatever that is. Is that common? Would it be expensive to repair since the car is obviously no longer under warranty?
Is there anything I should be looking for? I'd certainly have a Mercedes mechanic check it out before I bought it. I don't even know the asking price, but I've looked on Ebay and run a NADA report, and somewhere between $11,000 and $14,000 seems reasonable. Is there anything that typically malfunctions around 100,000 miles that would cost a lot to repair ($2000+)?
Sorry for all the questions, I've always wanted a Mercedes, but it seems the reliability isn't what it once was. I've had two BMWs, and I never had the first problem with either. One is 16 years old and runs almost a good as it did the day I bought it, but I have no idea what to expect from a Mercedes.
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds to any of the questions, I'd really appreciate your thoughts...
Assume nothing has been done on the car, anything can go wrong and everything will be expensive. Other than that, if you get it sorted out, expect a nice ride.
I have a 2000 E320, W210 with 170,000 miles, running fine. For a replacement I'd consider a W211, but only the later years, 2007-2009. In any event, don't do anything without a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a qualified MBZ specialist. Good luck.
Although 2003-2009 E-class are very beautiful and elegant cars, and one day I might consider a 06-07 black/taupe model, Pre- 2005 were terrible and unreliable to the point of destroying MB's reputation with its horrible brake by wire technology and other electronic and stereo glitches. Electronic glitches are expensive to fix on any car let alone Mercedes.
As nice looking as these 2003-2004 E-classes are...stay away from them. I KNOW they are very hard to skip since they look so good!!
My 2001 with 100K miles and four years of having it, has been exceptionally trouble free. Even with those models, you still need to pay attention to service/repair history.
Good luck with your search.
Joe
Not sure how the pull of selling a car like that with vinyl, good marketing I suspect.
The E500's and the S' do have real leather thou.
The car is running fine, but the sound is driving me crazy! Please, anyone that can address this problem! Thanks, Chicago Girl
A headlight bulb (xenon) replacement was 309.00
Both rear power windows started falling by themselves - 1000.00
Last month, he was driving the car and he heard a noise and suddentl;y lost his power steering. Towed to the dealer who informed him that his serpentine belt had broken.
Told him that the broken belt had caused a "lot" of damage - 4200.00!
Not a timing belt but a serpentine belt!
Now, can anyone here possibly tell me how that much damage could have happened?
And I thought Audi's and Volvos were bad!
Mighty fat bill he got. I'd certainly look it over with a fine tooth comb. Some dealers do like to pile it on.
Still, the bill would have been 5000.00 but they decided to give him a break.
This is exactly why I just have no use for European cars even though they are certainly fine cars.
You'll have to go to the dealer and maybe they can help you out here. Some online services claim to be able to provide the code, but I haven't personally tested their reliability or credibility.
I am having an issue with the convertible. If I start playing music before the car has found the phone or if I receive/make a call while music is playing, the music shuts off and will not resume again unless I physically disconnec the iPod connector and reattach. The GL works flawlessly it is only the convertible.
Has anyone else had this issue?
