Its small and German so my first thought was a Kleinschnittger?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,154
Actually having answered his earlier today, it dawned on me as I drove home from work just now that this is a Champion - something like a Champion 250 or 275 - anyway, not a Kleinschnittger

Yes! It is a Champion 250 ca. 1950-51, the first product of a small company located in Paderborn, West Germany.

The Champion 250 was essentially a four wheeled motorcycle lackiong even an electric starter.

Now what the hell is a Klienschnittger?

Looks to be twice as good as a BMW since it's got a double kidney grille!

Looks a bit like an Ambassador but it's not, nor is it any other variant of the Morris Oxford.

You're a bit off on the year Stickguy. That black beauty is a 1962 Buick Electra 225 Sport Coupe. IMO the big Buicks never looked better than they did in '62. Those wheels are the optional Magnum 500 style chromed steel wheels (not alloys) seen on many different 1960s cars.

Wheels are right, but the centers are wrong. Those centers didn't appear until the 1970s. I had those same wheels on my 1979 Buick Park Avenue.

I wasn't that hot at the time - due to the time difference I was actually dozing off and heading for bed when I posted that reply - because most of you are in the US I'm generally around when you guys are still asleep if I post from work, and its only when I am home like now that I am on the same wavelength.

I have a model of a similar Moskvitch, but a single colour 503 rather than the more up market 507.

Based on the "truck testicles" I'm going to guess 1973 Redneck 2000 XL??

It's got a Vega/Capri vibe but can't tell what it is.

I'll bet you're right Michaell. It's an Isuzu Piazza Coupe, AKA Isuzu 117 which had a long production run from 1968-81!

The rusty car sure looks like one of the Buick Opel/Isuzu clones that were based on the Gemini and Opel Kadett C.

    not that model

that looks like the infamous Opel by Isuzu that replaced the "real" Opel Manta for 1976, which was a thinly disguised I mark I think.

When I looked at it I thought of the Isuzu sold in the US in the '70s and/or '80s as the I-Mark. That one came in gas and diesel models.

Subaru 360, I will guess 58 or so.

Later ones had uplifted headlights and bigger bumpers to meet increasing regulations.

Yup, it's a '66 Buick Riviera, same Magnum 500 wheels as that '65 Electra SC, this time with gray centers instead of black.

For my money the '66-'67s were the best looking Rivs.

The Subie 360 was imported by none other than Malcolm Bricklin, who went bust and had to sell the distribution rights to somebody else.

It would not be the last of Bricklin's automotive follies.

The Jeep Commanche's were always nice, but the new J12 is going to sell like wildfire (as long as the proposed Dodge Power Wagon varient doesn't clone from it)

    G'day

That is a good deal tidier than anything I have seen. Jeep had an assembly plant in Brisbane and did reasonably well, flogging these Comanches to farmers and industrial users. However, closed up shop and left the market to Toyota, pretty much.

We still see very rusted examples around from time to time, usually driven by folk who have just left the banjo at home.

    Cheers

Actually it's not a Comanche, which was based on the Cherokee (XJ), it's an earlier, larger SJ/Wagoneer-based 1967 Jeep Gladiator J200 4x4.

Is this the weird thing based off a Ford Falcon platform? About same as the Convair derived pick up from Chevrolet. A stylistic dead end, thank goodness!

I just saw one of these Sunday leaving a local gas station. I couldn't see any markings to help with the brand. It was car show ready other than the one I saw didn't have the spare tire standing up.

Pretty sure that's a Dodge pickup thing based on their mid 60s van (D100?) but I don't know the particular model name for it.

Pretty sure its a 1966 Ford Falcon Econoline Pickup.

That's a Ford Falcon pickup--did they call the pickup the Econoline too, I don't recall. But I like the looks. Not often seen today...same with the Corvair versions.

Honestly, I've always wondered about a frontal impact in one of those though.

I guess I can see "Econoline" written on the door so the pickup was indeed called that. I see online that '67 was the last year for that general styling. A new Ford Econoline van-only came out for '68. Weird to me that Chevy still offered its Corvair vans in '65 while at the same time bringing out the more conventional "Chevy Van" and "Sportvan" the same model year.

At the Studebaker National Museum, they have a one-off 1963 cab-over pickup designed for use by Westinghouse. It's boxy in the extreme, and although the dimensions in the article don't show it, it seems enormous when I've stood next to it:

Foose did one of those on Overhaulin'. It was a 67 Dodge A100 (D100 is a regular pickup).

They frenched the headlights and it looked much better, as did the bed with the wood trim:

I like Dodge trucks of the '60's, as they're rarely seen, but I had forgotten those had a two-piece windshield.
