OK, I guess I'm an idiot because I can't remember how to post a picture. I have a nice dash pic on Flickr, I copy the link location, I then click on 'IMG' below and then paste the link location, I post message, and NOTHING.

I use site search above for 'how to post image' etc, and nada... Oh well, I tried. Help!!

    It's not just you. :shades:

Haven't used Flickr for a while; something about the link I guess - maybe it's that @ sign in there since we change them for anti-spam purposes.

You can paste the link in the browser address bar and it works fine - after you fix the @ sign.(http://www.flickr.com/photos/57660298@N07/9014648055/)

No, replace it with a "real" @ sign. If you cut and paste that link, the @ sign disappears, or it does for me.

Bit of a pain I know.

Oh heck, let me snip it from my screen and put it on tinyurl. It's a great shot not to have exposed, even if I won't be able to get it to fit without messing up the dimensions.

BIGGER (as Andy would say, lol)

I can't see enough to know. But the venti pane window and placement of the power window switches makes me think something from 57-59 Ford family?
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
This is from a 1958 Oldsmobile with the transportable transistor radio.

You see? Drivers have been crashing into trees while fiddling with their music for over half a century!

And NO, young 'uns, that is NOT a huge DVD disk :P

Oh geez. "Highway Hi-Fi" in a '55 or '56 Chrysler (maybe DeSoto).

Was Chrysler also in the business of selling records? That's not an ordinary 45rpm.

Lemko's 1958 Oldsmobile post was correct I take it?

Funny how so many '58 and '59 model cars wind up in here.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
I've never examined one of these record players up close but that's an interesting question regarding size. Maybe the photo distorts it.

I'm also not sure myself of the year and make of the car, except that it certainly is a Chrysler product of that era.
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
Well I was way off on the Olds, but I'm pretty sure that is a DeSoto dashboard.
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
"This is from a 1958 Oldsmobile with the transportable transistor radio. "

Right you are lemko! I believe the radio even said 'Trans - Portable' on it.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 10,685
I guess Pontiac had the 'Trans - AM' version... :P
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
Looks like a '56 DeSoto to me. If it was a '55 it would have had the short gear selector coming out of the dash (kind of like on later Corvairs), but the '56 was the first year for push-buttom transmission off in the left corner.

And thanks for the pic-posting help!!!

Late 70s Subaru DL, rarely seen as shown with whitewall tires.

    2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93

  • texasestexases Member Posts: 10,685
It is a Subaru, but 10 years older...1966 Model 1000. The DL had the big bumpers, and a bit different styling.
  • lostwrench1lostwrench1 Member Posts: 1,165
The use of Spyder was probably from my long time liking of the Chevy Corvair.

    And for anyone interested............
The record in #37194 was one of a pack of six which one received from Chrysler when purchasing the record player option. (Chrysler's choice of music). It was 7 inches in diameter and had 16 2/3 rpm.

Close enough for govt. work. It's a Sunbeam Imp.

The Rootes Group were the masters of badge-engineering, practically everything they made came out with multiple brands on them.

The hilariously named Chevy Lumina "Euro", no doubt with a 3.1. My brother had a 1993 model, white with the red and black stripe. Transmission puked around 100K IIRC, but he seemed to like it otherwise. Becoming a rare sight nowadays.

Colorado fire destruction - a few unusual/rare cars in this shot, or sadly, the remnants of them.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,368
That's right, it's a '92 Chevrolet Lumina Euro. That one was actually photographed in Europe (Finland). Note the Citroen (Picasso?) minivan behind it.

Oh yeah, just adding to the irony. Reminds me of a friend of mine who thinks it would be funny to drive a Celebrity "Eurosport" on the Autobahn.

Grand Picasso in the background, I think.

There was a person on the local news who said his '74 Corvette burned.

I'm getting smoke from that fire at my house .. I'm only about 35 miles away according to Google Maps.

That's right Michaell, it's a 1971 Mercury Capri 1600, made (IIRC) at Ford's Koln (Cologne), Germany plant.

My bro had the same car, same color.
