i didn't coin the term "flaps", and i'm too lazy to look backwards. i call it a gasket, or rubber boot. who knows what the term is. it's a piece of rubber that prevents water from leaking between the windshield and sheetmetal...how's that? main point i wanted to communicate was - why silicone? looks like i guessed right.
say, speaking of guns, any you guys ever messed with a 120mm smoothbore? used to have four of 'em...had to give it up tho. those things have some kick now... best when used on iraqi's at 2+ miles... on the waaaaayyyyyyyy!!!

once you have a build date..and want to change...you have to start all over again...
Good luck

No kyle.....I have not used a 120MM..sorry guy....how good does it fit up the rear of a ford guy who has "rules" in his user name?
LOL

I have not yet had anyone that has bought a 2001 LT say if they have it. I hope that it is not a late production feature. I have not even seen any LT's on any lots in my area.
Jeff
Glad I'm waiting 'till 2002 for the HD.....maybe things will be concrete by then?
Good luck
let us know what happens

Sometimes I wished I'd waited to get a 2500HD diesel - I have several friends with the powersmoke diesel I'd love to see eat crow, but I do really like my '00 2500 6.0L.
Goin' camping this weekend. Towing a 4000lb trailer for the first time with my new truck. Real curious how it'll handle and what mileage I'll get. Round trip should be about 550 miles to the salt plains in north central Oklahoma with about 60 scouts. Hope mother nature decides to cool the temps a bit or rain. Been 59 days without rain so far.
Boy that HD diesel sounded GOOD!

Dmax numbers look good..... but I still don't want one for a dailey short distance commuter.

(1)power in from battery power
(2)power out to light
(3)power in to back light the switch
(4)power in to turn on power indicator
(5)ground wire
I assume your truck is not factory equipt with this switch and you are doing an add on.I have the snow plow prep package so my truck has this switch and the pigtales from the switch were not an easy find but if your truck is factoy equipt with this switch let me know and I can tell you where to look for the wires.
I hope this helps.

I've disliked many changes in life...and even got to use them or accept them in time....who knows?...maybe I'll be an On-star Junkie one day?

Seriously, I haven't activated mine on the Denali. They say the first year is free...buy who gets lost on an island...Plus I'd rather look at maps rather than have some operator trying to guide me. The only feature that I like is the ability for the operator to open the truck in case you lock your keys in it and the automatic notification when the airbags go off. I wonder if its connected into the security system. Must be, if not just cut the wires and be done with it...

And my Kenworth 18-wheeler has been using too much diesel lately ...
Ryan
BTW Ryan, if you read Merideth's earlier post about the garand, you'd know she is a he. Don't overlook these rare opportunities.
Onstar, who needs it? Maybe a few do. I prefer using my GPS and software. Next dirt bike trip, if I can make it in October, is Utah again. I've printed the 3d maps, charted waypoints. Made virtual fly overs of the terrain. Of course the software makes it look like it's just sand, when what you really have is hard scrabble, slickrock, desert badlands, sedimentary deposits, silt, sand, salt, sulfur, uranium and quicksand. That's the San Rafael Swell for you. I'm going to know where I am and what I'm doing instead of clinging for dear life, sucking roost!

I did this and used the factory harnesses, but it took a while to do it along with a very sympathetic parts man that is a friend of mine.
There is an intermediate harness that goes from the switch to another harness that plugs into the mid-buss electrical center (under your left foot), the parking brake rachet mechanism, and the PRNDL switch by the steering column. The power flow then goes out to the under-hood electrical center (fuse box) and then back to the same harness that connects to the harness with a relay in it to power the roof beacon. All the wiring is in the centers already and the SEO (Special Electrical Option) fuses are all in place.
I am currently on the road on business but send me an e-mail and I will send you further info re: the part numbers and if you send me your fax number I will fax the wiring diagram info from the Silverado service manual.
It does work slick once it is done, but requires a dedication to detail and love of labor.
