    Mine is the Alloy and I'm not sure what the factory set mine at. The sales manager was going over options before I drove it home and he was fiddling with all sorts of buttons I have no clue as what he was doing. I can tell you that it is currently at the blue setting now. I did have mine on Saturday up to 80 mph and it seemed like I was going 55. The dealer filled my tank and I have roughly 115 miles and topped it off last night. It took 8.25 gallons so I guess my first 100 miles I averaged just under 14 mpg. Most of my miles have been in 4th gear doing between 40 and 50 mph. I love this car. Kirstie our moderator will be posting some of my pictures when she gets a chance that I E-mailed to her. I can't seem to figure how to put them on my car space. :shades:

    You can find the GT 500 manual supplement inside the packet that they gave us with the car. It's a small booklet clearly marked.

    When I was a kid of owned a 1967 GT 2+2. I have since owned a 2004 Premium Convertible. I sold the 2004 about 6 months ago. The thought of owning a GT 500 makes me dream of my youth and of the time when American Torque Monsters roamed the highways. Can you tell me what dealers are selling these cars for? I am in the market for a 2007 Mustang GT, but if I can snag a GT 500, I might get it. Since I have a family to support, I have to put things in perspective.

    My Dad showed me his original invoice some time back on his 2+2. Don't recall the actual price he paid, but he regrets selling it. I gave him a ride this past Saturday in my Shelby and he loved it. Most dealers in my area are holding private auctions at their dealerships with closed bidding. Average price you will find a coupe on eBay is somewhere $55K to $60K. $5K more if it's a convertible. I assure you if you purchase one it will more than fulfill any of your dreams. Good luck. ;)

    I need some help. I have read everything that I received with my Shelby, but nowhere can I see or find any info that refers to the super charger. There is a gauge on the instrument panel that reads 0 to 15 psi that I think has something to do with the super charger. Anybody Know anything about that gauge? I read some postings somewhere on the web that claims you need to disconnect the battery before taking delivery of your car or else the super charger won't be programmed. I asked my dealership about that but they claimed you never disconnect the battery or else you will get multiple error codes. I bought mine from a small Ford dealer and like I said in previous postings I believe I had more knowledge about this car than they did. Page 8 in the Shelby supplement references the PCM feature that limits boost pressure, but very little or no information in detail. Anyone know where I can read up on the super charger in our Shelby's? :confuse:

    Pre-Delivery Instruction (PDI) #J10 (Shelby Only) makes reference to the the disconnecting of the battery. I believe you must 1. Disconnect the negative side of battery. 2. Reinstall the battery cable. 3. Turn ignition key to ON position for 10 seconds, but do not allow the car to start...This will satisfy the J10 instruction with regard to the PCM re-program. And if you had been getting a high rev at start-up this should no longer happen. The gauge you speak of is the S/C boost gauge. The owners supplement is clear on when boost becomes available...you need to romp these things pretty hard before you actually begin to see it produce any boost...Don't be afraid, thats what its made for!     BTW....our mechanic claims they no longer need to disconnect the battery cable for pre-delivery. You need to drive it for 5 consecutive miles then turn it off then on again to get full power. Or wait until you have turned it on and off for 50 consecutive starts. We took mine out for a 5 mile spin and then turned it off and started it again. My mechanic claims that is all that needed to be done to restore full power.

    shelbydude...Thanks for the clarification. I received the same info. from my dealership regarding the battery cable. The only thing that I initially questioned about my car was that the boost gauge didn't seem to be working after knowing that all the proper PDI's had been performed...they said don't be afraid to get on it and then watch the gauge...and to my surprise it was working quite well!

    Yep...my mechanic here said the same thing. The gauge only moves when pressure builds up which means you have to get on it to make that happen. The more you get on it, the more pressure builds, the more the gauge will move.

    BTW....what is the fastest anyone has had their shelby up to so far? I was up to 130 MPH before having to let off and slow down because of approaching traffic. I've read these cut off at 155 and/or 160 but I haven't been able to get up that fast yet.

    I don't think I will drive my Shelby again until I talk to another Ford dealership. I don't believe mine was delivered correctly to me and I'm afraid I may be doing damage to my Shelby. I was even handed the bag of lock nuts for the rims that I had to request to have put on. The dealership I bought my Shelby from have nice people there, but I just don't believe their knowledgeable to deliver this type of auto. I haven't heard of anything about this PDI checklist or anything. The psi gauge on my dash has stayed at 0 each time I have driven my Shelby. I have accelerated to 80 mph and it has stayed at 0. You speak of getting on it, but if that means 130 mph, I don't need to worry about that psi gauge because my Shelby nor any vehicle of mine will ever see 130mph. HA! HA! I out grew that many years ago. :confuse:

    When you accelerated to 80 MPH how fast did you go from o to 80? Just crusing up to 80 isn't going to cause the gauge to move. If you REALLY GET ON IT you will see the gauge move. It has to create a lot of pressure in the supercharger before it will move the pressure gauge. Now if you really get on it as in 0 - 100 in 60 seconds you will see that gauge move. Cruising up to 80 or cruising around at 80 or a 100 won't move the gauge because that alone will not build enough pressure to move the gauge. It only creates pressure when you go all out at full bore if you were starting out slow and going to 80 or 100 in 60 seconds or less. That is getting on it! Just cruising up to 80 isn't going to move it at all. There isn't any pressure building up.

    bri66...Unlike a turbocharger, the supercharger is driven directly off of the crankshaft...The harder you mash your right foot the more demand for gas and air...as the RPM's rise the rotors in the supercharger spin faster and boost will build...This whole cycle happens very fast and the boost gauge will be very erratic if you do not keep your foot it long enough to look down at the gauge. I suggest you find yourself a safe bit of open road and lay into it while looking @ the gauge and knowing you have nothing but open/safe road in front of you...Also it won't hurt your car to go through the PDI instructions again just to make sure they got done...

    I was entering onto a state highway so maybe 30 to 80 in 3 to 4 seconds maybe. I was watching the tach and it only climbed a bit above 3K. I tried it again today with the same results. Unfortunately their was a state cruiser a ways back that saw me enter the highway and followed my butt off at the next exit. I don't think he was too impressed, but once he saw who was driving it I guess he figured I was an old fool. HA! HA! When you say it has to build up boost prior to showing on the gauge what speed and rpm's are you at? Thanks for the PDI instructions, I am going to go over them this weekend. I took my wife's uncle for a ride today and he owned brand new a 68 Chevelle SS that put out 350 horses in the day and he claimed he would not have stood a chance against this car. Although he claimed he only paid $3,800 for his toy back in the day. I love this car, it is soo sweet to drive and quite the eye catcher. :shades:

    If you take it to 4000 RPM's like right now, your gauge should show signs of life... :)

    you could try using a lower gear, to get the revs up without too much speed.

    Yea...I was thinking 4000 RPM in 1st gear...sorry I didn't specify that...and don't worry, thats still 2000 RPM below redline.

    Thanks for all the info. I am going to go over the PDI you emailed to me this weekend. I don't think my boost gauge is ever going to see the needle move and if it does I'll either be on a track, dyno, or just very upset at someone who just cut me off. HA! HA! It's suppose to be a nice fall weekend up here in Massatusets and may even drive up north to see some dyeing leaves with the family. If anyone sees a Shelby doing the speed limit it will probably be me. :shades:

    My 66 Mustang originally had a six cylinder that I found out when I got my first flat tire back in 1980. Someone had changed the motor and rear end prior to me buying it. When I restored it four years ago I completed the change over to an eight cylinder and added the light bar at that time. Original parts that I could obtain were used and everything else was reproduction parts from several Mustang part vendors. I did return the white vinyl top it originally had, but it's not a numbers car.

    It did, when you have a four lug flat and a 5 lug spare and your 25 miles in the middle of a desert before anyone but William Conrad on Cannon had a car phone and way before there were cell phones, it bit the big one. :cry:

    great pic's and a good story too. reminds me a bit of having an 83 tbird that i bought a full size rim and tire to use as a spare. sold the tbird and got an 86 mustang. kept the spare. when i went to use it, just to rotate the tires, the hub was too large on the mustang. good thing i never really needed it.

    I had a 06 GT Mustang pull in this morning while I was getting gas and he wanted to look at my Shelby. He claimed that he wanted to buy one, but couldn't pay the high premiums in our area. He opted to wait and see what the dealers would want for the new 07 GT Shelby and the 08 GT 500 next year. He claims that the dealers in our area are now selling their allotments of the new 07 GT Shelby's and the dealers he's contacted all want $25K and up over sticker. I know there would be a premium, but didn't know they would be higher than the GT 500's were. He also told me which I didn't know that most dealers are charging a order premium of $5K if you want to order a new GT Mustang. These dealers are making a killing on us Mustang owners. I wonder if because Shelby's crew are finishing these 07 GT Shelby's if that's why their more money? Has Ford announced the prices yet? I'm glad I don't have to ever worry again. I have all the toys I need. It's too bad and I feel bad for anyone who wants to own one, but can't because of the premiums. It's not right.

    Right now there are a LOT of Shelby GT500's out there sitting at dealers. I've noticed some are selling between $55k $60k on e-bay where they were selling between $60k - $72k. So they have come down some. The Shelby GT will be limited to 10k units so a premium is expected, but I can't see $25k over. Perhaps the dealer misunderstood and thought he was talking about the GT500. I suspect the Shelby GT will be priced somewhere between a GT and the Shelby. Mid to upper $30k's. I suspect a premium of $5k - $10k over on those. As far as a regular GT goes you can buy them all day long at MSRP or less. If you have dealers marking those up on you I will gladly order one for anyone that wants one for MSRP! Sorry, but don't ask about Shelby's. Ours are sold.

    I would think a dealer ought to know if he was talking about the Shelby GT or a GT500 Shelby, but I'm not sure. I probably won't see him again any ways. You would think that if I went to a Ford dealer and said I want to order a new car I wouldn't expect to have to pay a premium to the dealer just to order one. Maybe he was full of crap and was drooling too much over my Shelby to think straight. HA! HA! However I do know first hand that there is a local Ford dealer in my area that will charge you an appointment booking fee to schedule a non warranty repair. :shades:

    Thank you. I am very happy with it and it won't be much longer before I put both poni's in their corral for the winter. We're not suppose to drive it when the temp goes below 40*f. I did once and found a huge difference in the handling. Those are warm blooded sneakers on them. Great news in the mail today I just received the title to my Shelby. It's official now it's all mine. Anyone interested in buying it? Psych :) :shades:

    I went thru the same deal, talking to dealers about ordering a GT 500. Got all sorts of markups, from 5% plus $5k to take the order to $30k.

    Once the price got around $50-55k, I started thinking about a Vette instead -- better, faster car (am not attached to the Mustang thing like some guys). The whole appeal of the GT 500 was that it was supposed to be under $40k.

    Still digging my '05 GT Premium (w/ manual, of course), but know that it won't be long before I get a Vette (can't decide between a C06 and Z06 ... if only I could test drive each). :shades:

    Drove my Shelby tonight to work and realized I now have 1,400 miles on it all ready. Driving it on the second week of November in New England is unspeakable on most years, but the weather has been very good to us so far. I am very pleased to this point. I washed it this past weekend with the new Mr. Clean car wash and was very pleased with the results. Small dislikes to this point are the key ignition. Is anyone else having trouble inserting their key to start the car? There are times I have to wiggle it back and forth to get it in, (easy). Hope I never have to make a fast get away. HA! HA! The clutch is quite an adventure. Most take off's I have been much better of late, less chatter. Also I have noticed that a few times when I start my Shelby the stereo Shaker 1,000 kicks off from the CD to the radio. Anyone else having this problem? On one of these times I was unable to get it back onto the CD option until I shut the radio off and waited a while. Where is everyone else at for mileage and what do you think so far? I give mine a straight A. :shades:

    I'm at 1800 miles. No ignition key or radio problems at all. The clutch chatter disappeared at about the milage you have on yours now. I thought I was just getting used to it so I had my wife drive it and she gets no chatter either.

    No problems so far and I'm a happy camper!

    The thing is, it doesnt matter if you think the Shelby is overpriced or not. The bottom line is we are sold 1 year in advance at 15k over. We would have already sold out entirely if we didnt stop taking money on them. We think the market price for them will actually go up from where it is as the end of the run nears. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If you want a Vette, go to any Chevy store on Earth. They'll have one in any color you like, ready to go. If you want a Shelby, be prepaired to make a $5000 non-refundable deposit and wait a year until your car gets here, at which time the remaining $55k (+ tax tag title) will be due. Wait a minute.....you cant even do that now. As for ordering Mustang GTs, whats the big deal? I sell them at or near invoice all the time.

    Whats not right about the premiums?...its the result of a free market for crying out loud. The truth is, if no dealer was allowed to charge a premium, every one of those cars would be bought by dealership employees, then sold at a premium on the open market for a profit. Trust me, I tried to do it. The point is, the price is not determined by the manufacturer, the dealer, Edmunds, or the individual customer. It is worth what people will pay on the open market. I consider anyone who dissagrees a socialist. God bless America.

    I recently went to the kelly bb web site and was delighted to see that they list the true value of a coupe at $62,000. I stopped at a local dealership today to price a air filter box for my Shelby and saw they had a line of Roush 427 GT Mustang's. The sticker prices were slightly higher than the premium I paid for my GT500. If I did not get my Shelby because of the premium I would have probably bought one of these this morning. Very nice looking 4.6 V8 GT putting out 427 horses. Might be an option for those that wanted a high performance Mustang and don't mind it not being a Shelby. Has anyone changed their Shelby's air intake to the cold air kit? If so does anyone care to sell their stock plastic air filter box? :)

    Yes, I have several in each color. I got the ones by Carroll Shelby and the Hotwheels Elite. Auto Art has some out and Hotwheels has some out you can buy for about $22.

    The Auto Art runs about $70 and the Carroll Shelby editions run about $32.

    Also check out the Eleanor by Carroll Shelby. Very nice!

    The one flaw I did notice is that all of the Carroll Shelby models have the red inserts in the seats even on the colors that the red inserts are not available on. Some of the colors only come in the dark charcoal.

    From Thursday Jan 4th to Monday the 8th my wife and myself drove our GT 500 from Ky to Ocala, Fl and return. Went to the Natonal Parts Depot Ford Roundup at Silver Springs. Great show! Almost 2000 Fords of every make and kind. There were 11 GT 500's including mine. We put a little over 2000 miles on our car in the 5 day trip. some two lane but mostly interstate at 75 to 80 mph. Averaged 19 to 20 mpg.
    This car rides excellent, seats are very comfortable on the long haul, quiet except for some road noise on rough concrete pavement. If you guys (gals) get a chance to take a trip such as this, you won't be disappointed. I have owned my car since August 5 and had 1700 miles on it when we left. At this point I have no complaints with this car at all. I have owned and resored old Mustangs for several years and made no mistake in purchasing this car.

    I was told my order was to start production on 11JAN07. Anyone have any idea how long until I get the call that it's ready for pickup? I got the call from a dealership back in October that an order slot opened up; I wrote my check out so fast I singed my fingers; been waiting patiently. I don't know whether to believe my wait will only be ~4/5 months, when I've been reading stories of 18 mo./+ wait... I also feel "lucky" the dealership is only gouging me $20K over MSRP...

    Its only a problem if someone is going fast enough to be in your blind spot duh.

    If someone is in your blind spot in this car, you don't deserve to be driving it. :P

    Wow you don't see too many people admit to that. Everyone that you speak to claims they got theirs either at or below invoice. My Shelby was purchased by my wife as a gift to me and she too paid an extremely high premium. You know I don't feel too bad though because Kelly Blue Book has the 2007 GT 500 true value at just under what my wife paid $63K. I look at it as an investment for my kids future benefit, and why shouldn't I enjoy my kids inheritance. HA! HA! My Shelby was born on August 30th and I took delivery on Sep 29th. If yours is scheduled to be built Jan 11th then you should see it by mid to the very latest end of February. You will be more than satisfied once you get the first glimpse of her. You will forget all about the waiting and fall in love the second you see her. Although I didn't want to pay the premium either after having her now since September I can easily say I would pay double what my wife paid to buy her today. What's really cool too is now I have Mr. Shelby's autograph on the air filter cover, making it all that much more special to me. :shades:

    There is no way dealers are selling those at or below invoice. MSRP - maybe, but probably not. Dealers aren't stupid.

    My brother in law works at a Ford dealership up in Dallas and he tells me $25K over is "routine" if you go through dealer. There are a couple on E-Bay for less, but I didn't want someone else's 'hand-me-down'. Got the options I wanted- albeit few to choose from- so I'm living with overall purchase price of $65K. First time I've ever overpaid for anything in my life. Forget future kid's benefit (of course my kid is named "Shelby"), this car is all for ME. I'm gonna burn the tires off that pony in the first month and if my husband is lucky, may let him drive it, too! Have a Valentine One to sniff out the jellys, just hope it can keep up with me. Thanks for info, hopefully wait is almost over. P.S. You'd better hang on to that wife of yours, most women don't even know what a Shelby is. Any other wife would have bought you a minivan! LOL

    That's the date they were to start production on it. Dealer is to check next week to make sure they did, in fact, start on it. I sure hope so, spring is coming and I feel a roadtrip coming on...
