Have the new lease rates improved for an A4 premium 12K/36M?
What kind of difference is it from last month?
  • vkjvkj Member Posts: 67
Thanks carman, for that information. that seems like a huge improvement over last month. Any chance this is the numbers only for the premium? last month there was a 5 point difference between the premium and prestige with prestige being lower. last month premium was 60 at 10k and prestige was 55 at 10k. the mf was the same

Hi marcovich. The best way to evaluate this deal is to take a look at this car's selling price in relation to its MSRP or dealer invoice price. The selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were paying cash for or financing them. Without knowing what this number is, it is difficult to tell how much room there is to negotiate. If you let us know what the selling price is I am sure that either myself or another community member will be happy to tell you what they think.

thanks car_man! i'm going to lease my car next saturday, november 15th; i noticed that the current lease "specials" on audi's website say that they're good until november 11th- does this mean the numbers you quoted will change on that day, too?

    Hi car_man,

Looking for the MF and residuals for 10kmiles/year for 36 months on the 2009 Audi A4 2.0 Premium. Thanks!

Hi josulli. Audi recently extended its October programs through November 11th. It is difficult to say what its new program will be like after that.

Excellent catch, vkj. I apologize, I mixed up the Premium and the Prestige. The money factor is the same for both, but the 36 month, 10k residual for the Prestige is lower at 55%. This lease program is exactly the same as the one that Audi ran last month. It extended its October program through November 11th. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem, vmichael. Yep, Audi extended its October lease program through November 11th. Unless it extends it again, which it has done in the recent past, Audi will introduce its "new" November program on the 12th. It is difficult to say what that will be like at this point. If you are comfortable with the current program, finalize your deal now. If you want to roll the dice on the new program, wait until the 12th.

Greetings twodomes. Through November 11th, Audi Financial Services' buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 A4 2.0 Premium Sedan with 10,000 miles per year are .00171 and 60%, respectively.

ferky, it is a good but you might have almost the same payment at 36 months. you have them check both. 36 mf is a little lower.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the following: I am looking at an A4 lease on the base model, w/ just heated seats, audi symphony, and one other minor option for $520/mo, with $2K down. BMW is $499/mo. with $1,400 down. Both leases are for 3 yr, 15K miles. The BMW lease is essentially maintenance free as it covers everything (oil changes, etc) except tire work, balancing, etc while the Audi does not cover regular maintenance. I have never owned either car and I know the maintenance can be expensive. I am curious about everyone's opinion if the maintenance free aspect of the BMW would be reason enough alone to consider the BMW, assuming you like both cars the same.

    Thanks
  • jescuejescue Member Posts: 521
you can have Audi Care added to your lease to include the maintenance. It raises the residual and should only add about $10 to your payment- well worth it.
  • vkjvkj Member Posts: 67
    south3,

where are you located? and what is the agreed upon sales price for the audi. many have been paying just above or just below invoice recently depending on the part of the country. you might have a little room to negotiate the price based on the numbers you suggested and this will get your down payment cut substantially. and it does make sense to roll in the audi care if you want to compare apples to apples.

Car_man; I recently looked at an '08 Audi S4 cabriolet, but here is what the dealer is telling me:

I am willing to sell you the car for $53,385 and it has an MSRP of $64,225. The residual is 46% and the money factor is .00300. These are all set by US Bank, which has the cheapest leasing rates for this car. With all these factors your monthly payment would be $975 including tax.

Do these numbers seem right to you? I knew the residual would be lower since it's an '08 and they're not making the S4 in '09. But is that money factor right? $975 seems crazy . . .
  • vkjvkj Member Posts: 67
    SDSEAGLES,

don't know what part of the county you are in but there are 2009 s4 being sold. they have the 4.2 v8 and not the superchared 3.0 that will be on the 2010. i got the following afs rates from lease compare for 2009 models:

    2009 Audi S4 6-Speed Cabriolet
    24 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00304 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 54% of MSRP – .00304 Base Rate
    48 Month – Residual 43% of MSRP – .00324 Base Rate

    2009 Audi S4 Tiptronic Cabriolet
    24 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00304 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 54% of MSRP – .00304 Base Rate
    48 Month – Residual 43% of MSRP – .00324 Base Rate

your cap cost will be higher for 2009 but so will your residual.

Car man (or anyone who may know),

I've started my preliminary shopping and am getting quotes of $400-500 over invoice here in Colorado.

However, I am also getting quoted with expensive miscellaneous dealer fees.

    Dealer #1 - $489 dealer handling fee (non-negotiable)
    Dealer #2 - $185.88 adverting fee, $195 prep/inspection fee & $183.44 service department pre-delivery inspection fee. Grand total of dealer fees = $564.

Dealer #2 even emailed me a PDF copy of their invoice showing the first 2 fees mentioned.

My question is, do these $500 of additional fees seem normal? Is there a way to get the car for $0 over the "regular" Edmunds invoice and still have the dealer make a profit once you factor in these fees (as Audi does not offer dealer holdback)? Are these non-negotiable fees simply there to boost the dealer's profit and make it appear that you are getting a good deal if you negotiate down to invoice, or are they actually legit?

Basically, can I do better than $500 over Edmunds invoice + $500 in dealer fees?

    Thanks so much!
  • jescuejescue Member Posts: 521
The advertising fee and $195 prep fee are legitimate fees from Audi. The rest are documentation or other dealer fees. These are profit so just consider them as such in your offers.
  • twodomestwodomes Member Posts: 73
when i leased my audi in late 06, there was no advertising or dealer prep fee. has that changed jescue?
  • jescuejescue Member Posts: 521
these are invoice items, not MSRP. The advertising varies by region. We do not have an ad fee because we are not in a major market. The prep/inspection fee has been on there as long as I can remember.

hey carman (or anybody)! i've got a fairly urgent question.

i'm in the chicago area with a fair number of dealerships, so i whipped around
the same email to about 8 dealerships, re: a4 2.0T quattro premium plus, MSRP $38000.

most of them had similar sale prices, around $36000. for a 36 month lease, 15K with no money down (plus chicago taxes), i was being quoted monthly payments of about $700/month (ouch.) they were using the posted MF 0.00171 and audicare residual of 56%.

however, i had one dealer who is offering me monthly payments much less, about $625, similar taxes included. when i pressed for the sale price and money factor, he replied that they could offer a much lower price because they were a wholesaler, for basically $34169. but his money factor was a whopping 0.00219. same audicare residual of 56%.

when i mentioned feeling strange paying this inflated MF, his reply was that he was pretty confident that even with the higher money factor, his deal was the best. his quote: "do you want the lower money factor or lower monthly payment?"

truth is, he's right. his is the best deal. and i'm having a hard time arguing his point. but it does feel strange. should i just take it? (or am i missing something...)

[he's also pressing for me to close this deal before the new MF kick in, citing some new 5-tiered credit score based MF coming out. but i've seen a link that the "general" MF will be less at 0.00169. i'm not sure how this would effect this dealers MF.]
  • cdepaolacdepaola Member Posts: 11
Howdy... Just got my A4 2.0 Premium Plus at Continental in Naperville and I can tell you I secured a better deal then $625. I'm about 30 cheaper. That's no money down other then first and plates, plus audi care.
  • cdepaolacdepaola Member Posts: 11
Sorry that was also 12000 miles which would as very slightly. So the 625.00 is going to be very close. But should be able to get a bit lower still by a few bucks. Continental and audi in Orland are making the best deals.
  • cdepaolacdepaola Member Posts: 11
Sorry for all the replies, first I was on my blackberry now I'm at a computer. So anyway, your deal looks very close to the one I secured on the same vehicle. In a No Money Down lease I personally wouldn't worry about the MF as much, unless it is grossly high in comparison and the MF's you've listed do not look grossly different.

It obviously all depends on your situation and if you can walk away from one dealer or another. But I'd tell the dealer to add Audi Care if you haven't already and make the payment $600.00 and see if he can match it. The dealers I mentioned above are very willing to deal and I was easily able to play each against each other. The only thing that may make it different now is that I got one of the first to hit the lot and apparently now they are selling rather well. Either way it looks like you got a very good deal!
  • jkozlow3jkozlow3 Member Posts: 20
    Chiaudiguy,

Going from a money factor of .00171 to .00219 will raise your total expenditure over a 3 year period by approximately $1000 - all things being equal. Use any of the several lease calculators online to verify this. You should be able to easily compare your quotes to see which plan is more favorable.

IMO, A good deal on a Premium Plus means that your TOTAL pre-tax payments over a 36 month period, 15k/yr come to:

$18500 or less without Audi Care
$18900 or less with Audi Care (residual is 1% higher)

The above numbers do not include any taxes, tags, title fees, security deposit, etc. They are only the total of all pre-tax payments that go to Audi. The security deposit is refundable, so I don't tend to include that in my calculations.
  • chiaudiguychiaudiguy Member Posts: 15
i think we're working with the same dealer, and now the same numbers.
i just asked him to re-do the numbers for 12K, and i'm getting $604/month.

is this similar to what you got?!

    thanks.

ps- any opinion on waiting until tomorrow? the official MF is to drop to 0.00169 from 0.00171. not sure if their "house" MF will do the same.
  • jkozlow3jkozlow3 Member Posts: 20
You really should be focusing on total cap cost and total pre-tax cost over 36 months instead of monthly payments. There are way too many variables when people try to compare monthly payments (whether tax is included, how much was due at signing, etc).

You can EASILY get the Premium Plus for a total cap cost of under $36,000 including the acquisition fee (without Audi Care).

The difference between .00171 and .00169 is next to nothing. Unless the residual changes for the better as well, there is no advantage in waiting. Where did you find your new MF numbers? Have you heard anything about the residual changing?

    Hey guys!!
I have learned a lot on this blog and it has been really helpful.

I am looking to get the a4 2009 - Prestige (which I was told lower residual)
    With Nav
    Black on Black

I am in Southern California.I am looking to buy this week.

The best deal I got last night was (and the pressure was on...)
    12k
    36months term
    $600
$1600 drive off (first, last month drive off)

    I walked, but...
Is this a good deal?! I really wanted a 24 month lease (but they were quoting me in the $700's)

Please let me know!! If not, I want to counter!!
Thanks! I am a female so trying to be smart and not get jacked around!
  • chiaudiguychiaudiguy Member Posts: 15
hey there. thanks for your interest!

buried in the original email is the new sale price of about $34140, i believe. even with the roughly $1000 taken by the inflated MF over 36 months, $35000 is better than the $36000 i've been quoted by other various dealers.

i can't put the exact link here by forum rules, but the website is "ride with g".
    the residuals didn't change.

I Understand that the Nov lease rates for the A4 are coming out today. Can someone please post the MF and RV for a 36 mo 10,000 mile lease for a A4 Prem+? I have a deal locked in using the October rates and like to know if the Nov rates are lower. My dealer agreed to use the lower rates, but I must decide by Nov 12. Thanks.
  • jkozlow3jkozlow3 Member Posts: 20
I would also like the MF & Residual for a 2.0 Premium Plus at 36mo, 15k. Thanks!

Those are NOT the new November rates on RideWithG. Those rates were for October and were scheduled to end on 11/4. However, Audi extended the October rates through November 11. New rates come out today.
  • twodomestwodomes Member Posts: 73
I am hearing .00169 on the mf for 36 month lease of 09 prem plus. residual around 56%?

new incentive: one guy said for current lessees, they are paying your first month and waving sec dep. havent been able to confirm.

on edmunds site: $1500 in loyalty cash for cap cost reduction or down payment
  • omszzomszz Member Posts: 10
I haven't closed, but this is the deal i'm trying to get. This is based on the latest lease rates that were published today, and also includes a $1500 owner loyalty discount.

A4 Premium Plus, Meteor Gray, Sport Package

    Lease: 3yr / 36,000 miles
    MSRP: $39450
    Invoice: $36700
    Sale Price: $37000
    Acquisition Fee: $575
    Cap Reduction (owner loyalty): $1500
    Adjust Cap Cost: $36075
Residual: .55 (.56 with Audi Care)
    Money Factor: .00169

I'm basically giving $875 profit if you look at difference between invoice and sale price + acquisition fee.

The residual went down, but the loyalty incentive seems to make the final pricing pretty sweet.

The payment is going to be: $486/mo + taxes.

I'm guess most dealers will be giving similar pricing if you factor in loyalty incentive!
  • carnuts3carnuts3 Member Posts: 8
I believe that both the Oct and Nov rates are posted on the RideWithG web site.
  • webbawebba Member Posts: 30
I was at a dealer last night, and I was told the residual stayed the same as October and the MF changed to 0.00169 for an 09' Premium Plus for 36 month lease with 12K miles/year.

I saw this posted today so i looks like a Sign and Drive deal...

*Excludes taxes, title and dealer fees. See dealer for details.

*LEASE EXAMPLE: Rate based on MSRP $34,405 of 2009 Audi A4 2.0 T quattro with 6-speed automatic transmission and destination charge. Purchase option at lease end for $19,954.90. 36-month closed-end lease offered to qualified customers by Audi Financial Services through participating dealers. Lessee responsible for $0.25/mile over 10,000 miles per year and a disposition fee of $350 due at lease end.

I am calling my sales guy today to see what we can work out since I have less then 10 days on my current lease...

I am looking for a 2009 A4 Prem Plus with Nav on a 36 month, I would love to get the Avant but I am guessing that's out of my budgets for toys per month.

  • webbawebba Member Posts: 30
When calculating the Residual from Audi’s Special Offer, I am coming up with 58% for the 2009 A4 2.0T Premium Plus with 36 months & 10K miles/year. Therefore, the Residual for 12K and 15K must be 57% & 55% respectively.
  • twodomestwodomes Member Posts: 73
where did you find the special offer? im looking on the audi website and not seeing any offers up on the a4.

EDIT: If you're talking about what Dilbertic just posted, given that lower MSRP, that car is NOT a premium plus, but just a premium, which has higher residuals.
  • twodomestwodomes Member Posts: 73
I stand corrected. That link clearly says it's a premium plus!!! And yes, I get 58% as the residual on that deal too! Thanks webba!

EDIT: Reading it closer, the wording is very tricky. The inital line doesn't mention premium plus, but then the last line says "Model referenced: Audi A4 2.0 T quattro Premium Plus with 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic and destination charge. Higher MSRP will affect lease price."

So, are they saying the model referenced is not the same as the one mentioned in the offer?
  • webbawebba Member Posts: 30
The offer is not clear. The MSRP they're showing, $34,450.00, doesn’t match with either the Premium's ($33,525.00) or the Premium Plus's ($37,525) MSRP, unless they are claiming the difference ($3,120) between MSRP, shown on the offer, and the one on edmunds for the Premium Plus is a 'dealer charge' or some other fee.
  • twodomestwodomes Member Posts: 73
Yep, I just called and their product specialist couldn't figure it out either! He is looking into it and said he'd call me back today. I have a feeling the residual you calculated is for a premium and not premium plus for 2 reasons:

    1) Someone else on here posted that their dealer told them the residuals stayed the same from last month

    2) I got a quote on a prem+ for 36 mos and 10k miles and the residual was 56% which is the same as last month.

Audi confirmed the $1500 loyalty bonus but he couldn't confirm that they are also paying first month. Also romised to get back to me on that...we shall see!
  • chiaudiguychiaudiguy Member Posts: 15
    hey guys...

our local main audi chicagoland website clearly refers to it being
for the premium, and not the premium plus.

do you think this is a tiered incentive, with offers for premium plus.

i've put a deposit down, but haven't sealed the deal on a premium plus.
i've got questions out to a couple local dealers, but no response yet.

    The Season of Audi Event
    2009 Audi A4 2.0 quattro Premium 2009 Audi A4 2.0 quattro Premium

    $479* lease per month
    36 Month Lease

    Down payment $0
    Refundable security deposit $0
    Acquisition fee $0
    First month’s payment $479

Amount due at lease inception $479
Excludes Taxes, Title, Other Options and Dealer Charges.

*36-month closed-end lease offered to qualified customers by Audi Financial Services through participating dealers. Must take delivery by January 5, 2009. Rate based on MSRP $34,405 of 2009 Audi A4 2.0 quattro Premium with automatic transmission, premium package, Symphony 6CD Radio, Bluetooth Interface and destination charge. Price excludes taxes, title, other options and dealer charges. Purchase option at lease end for $20,304.90.
  • webbawebba Member Posts: 30
October's Residual was actually 55% for 36 month with 15K, which would make it 58% for 10K (same as the calculated Residual for November). Again, this is based on the MSRP, provided on the Special Offer. They need to clarify the offer. It is confusing.
