Can anyone tell me if this is a decent lease deal: 2012 328i Sedan, alpine white/venetian beige, premium package, $0 down, first months payment paid by dealer, $435 monthly payment for 35 months, 10K miles per month.
  • jasper7821jasper7821 Member Posts: 5
    I'd say that's a AWESOME deal.
I traded in my 2006 Z4 (paid for) and got a lease for zero payments for 30 months 10k miles.
My Z was worth about $17k to all the dealers.

Your paying $15,225 for 35 months and if it were 30 months it would be $13,050 and I paid $17k.

    My sticker price was $46,450

    Hi Car Man,

I'm looking for 2013 335i X-Drive sedan with following specs

    Exterior: Imperial Blue Metallic
Interior: Saddle Brown Premium Leather or Saddle Brown Dakota Leather
    Trim: Anthracite Wood
    Package: Luxury Line
    Mileage: 12k per year

Should I look to get the .00145 rate or better? And what would be a good price for this car?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi scb911900. If you can still find a 2012 328i Convertible there is a total of $3,000 in cash incentives available on leases of it right now.

Hi tony_3series. Yes the .00145 money factor that you mentioned would be the best available factor for this car.

The xDrive Sedans are one of the few BMW models that is in relatively short supply in some areas right now as they just began arriving at dealers. As a result, I wouldn't expect to get a huge discount on one right now. Of course, I'm sure that this will change as the model year progresses.

Hey autoboy19. BMW Financial Services' August buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 24-month lease of a 2013 328i Sedan with 15,000 miles per year are .00145 and 66%, respectively.

The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a 2013 335i are .00145 and 65%.

    Hey All,

I just was quoted this from my local BMW dealer and I think I'm getting hosed, the sales price looks good, but the monthly payments and buyout are way to high.

    2013 BMW 328i Sedan
    MSRP: $46,125
Includes: Modern Line, Premium Package, Lighting Package, Cold Package, Rear Parking Sensors, and Rear Camera

    Sales Price: $42,920
    $3000 down
    36 months
    15k miles per year

    Monthly payments of $581
    Buyout of $27,225

    Please give comments and opinions

    Hi,

Noob here. First time leasing. First time bmw too. Financing I feel very comfortable with. I got three dealerships in the area willing to give me invoice on their 2012 model. I understand the 2013 are right around the corners, but my understanding is that they are essentially the same car.

    2012 335i Coupe
    Alpine White
    Walnut trim
    M sports package
    Premium package - black leather
    comfort access system
    navigation
    19" wheels
    paddle

What I haven't gotten a firm grip on yet is leasing and all the numbers associated with it to determine if it's a good deal.

I was offered 57% residual and I can't remember the MF but think it was 0.00175
    bank fee was $1005
    down payment $3500
    registration $500
total including tax and all fees was about $6000 up front and my monthly would be $640 including tax

Anyways, I apologize in advance as I'm trying to figure this all out.

Car_man you seem to get alot of questions, if you wouldn't mind telling me what the residual and MF should be for my car? And any other advice for a noob. This dealer will be calling me in two days to get me to close on this deal.

    Thanks!

That bank fee seems high. Also the 2013 coupe 3 series is supposedly completely redesigned although there's no official release info. Its body is called the F32 using what I assume to be a similar body of the current 2013 3 series sedans.

    Also Carman-
Would you please provide me with residual and money factor this month for a 2013 335i xdrive sedan automatic with m-sport package for August at 12k miles/year?
    Thanks in advance

Certainly xikingix1. BMW Financial Services' August buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2012 328i Sedan RWD with 10,000 miles per year are .00145 and 62%, respectively.

The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a 328i Coupe RWD are .00145 and 60%.

Welcome kell7. Since you are new to leasing, you definitely should check out the following informative articles on the subject that are available here at Edmunds.com: 10 Steps to Leasing a New Car and Calculate Your Own Lease Payment.

In short, the easiest way to get a good deal on a leased vehicle is to shop around for the lowest possible selling price and then have the dealer that you decide to go with calculate your vehicle's monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor.

As far as this particular vehicle's lease program goes, if you were to lease a 2012 BMW 335i Coupe through BMW Financial Services right now for 36-months with 15,000 miles per year its buy rate lease money factor and residual value would be .00145 and 57%, respectively.

As you can see, the money factor that you were quoted is a little high. The Bank Fee is inflated as well. BMW FS' base fee is only $725.

And yes, I definitely agree that I was quoted high. Thanks again! This forum is awesome!

    Thank you car man

I have a question about the agreed price for a potential lease offer. The dealer has offered me a MSRP of 51,720 with a discounted sale price of 48,913. Doing some research I found that the dealer invoice price is 47,495 which is a difference of about $1300, making it $1300 above invoice. I know this isn't a great price especially since there are 4-5 nearby BMW dealers in the area.
However I did mention that I was eligible for a $1000 college graduate incentive as well as the $1000 Olympic drive event. I'm not sure how to factor that into the asking price of the dealer. Is this a good offer at $1300 above invoice or should I still be aiming for less than $1000 on dealer invoice with the incentives?
  • kell7kell7 Member Posts: 3
Is it for a 2013 or 2012 model? The reason I asked is because I am in negotiations with a 2012 model and they are desperate to make room for the 2013, I have them giving me the 2012 below invoice because I did not want to pay for the $230 for BMW apps. Personally, I like the E92 body and style better than the F30.

My understanding of the graduate incentive and Olympic drive event is that those are dealer incentive trunk money meaning the dealer will be reimbursed by BMW so essentially you should still try to negotiate as close to invoice even on the 2013 model and then the extra $2300 will be given to you on top of that. I think it's fair to pay $500-$1000 for 2013 models.

    Hello Carman,

How does this look to you?

    $68,300 = MSRP

$62,000 = Selling Price not including Sales Tax & DMV fees.

$5,500 = Cash Due at Signing (includes 1st Month Payment & 1st Year DMV fees)

$642 = Monthly Payment not including Sales Tax

$698 = Monthly Payment including Los Angeles County Sales Tax (8.75%)

$40,980 = Residual or Lease End Buyout (60% of MSRP)

I'd appreciate hearing your take on this. Leases are really challenging to decipher.

    Thanks,

    Ted

    Hi Raul,

Obviously I'm Not Carman(few of are, he's the bomb!), but what I have been told by BMW is the residual is 59%, but the money factor depends on you. If you have great credit then the money factor is .00145, if not it will be .00165. Luckily I qualified for .00145.

More info: BMW closes the books for August on Tuesday Sep 4th since its a holiday weekend so you may be able to get a good end of month deal. Also if you or someone you live with has a BMW then you can get a $750 incentive to get into another BMW. Try to pay as little up front as possible as whatever money you do pay upfront can be lost if you total your car or hand in your lease early. I usually just pay the first month and roll everything in.

    Hope this helps,
    Bdub

Hey sixty. If there's five BMW dealers in your area then I wouldn't be surprised in the least if you were able to do better than $1,300 over invoice minus the available cash incentives.

Hi Ted. BMW is providing $3,000 in cash incentives on the 2012 3-Series Convertible right now. Add that to the $5,200 or so spread between this car's MSRP and dealer invoice price and you have a total of around $8,200 to play with during your negotiations. So you're probably still at around $2,000 or so over invoice. I personally wouldn't be surprised if you were able to do better than that if you are in an area that has a decent level of competition.

BTW Ted, I personally feel as though $3,000 is way too much money to put down as a capitalized cost reduction on a lease. Consumers who make large down payments on leased vehicles risk losing part or all of the money that they put down if their vehicle is totaled in an accident or stolen and never recovered. Even though it means that your monthly payment will be higher, it is much safer to go with a zero down lease.

Thanks for that, Carman. Doesn't BMW Financial have automatic GAP?

    So now I'm offered a 2012 335is MSRP 68,550 for 62,385. 5k drive off, $704 plus tax.

.00115. You see any wiggle there?

    Thanks,

Just got offered the following lease on a 2013 335i RWD:

    MSRP - $53,070 (as configured on BMW.COM)
    Offer - $50,916
    Down payment - $4000
    Terms - 36 month / 12,000 miles
Total per month including taxes - $615.00

I used what I found in these forums for the residual/money factor of 61%/0.00145, and I still couldn't get the lease payment to calculate as low as the offer once I added taxes.

    How does this look, CarMan?

    Thanks!
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Hi Ted. Yes, I believe that BMW FS leases do automatically include gap insurance at no additional charge.

You were offered a money factor of .00115? Interesting, I thought that this car's buy rate was .00145. You're probably not going to be able to do better than that.

Shoot for a selling price that's as close to dealer invoice as possible. BMW is not currently providing any cash incentives on 3-Series Sedans.
