Hello - does anybody know the money factors and residuals for a 12K / 15K 12/24/36 month X5 CPO lease?
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
BMW has dropped the lease rates by .001 for returning/existing BMW owners. The revised lease rate for Dec. is 0.0017. This is about a $90 per month reduction on a 3 yr 36m lease for a $50k car.
  • billmvbillmv Member Posts: 148
vat69......do you happen to know the lease rates and residuals for returning owners of X5s? I have one where the lease expires in Oct 2008, and I'd like to start figuring out some tactics very early about how to deal with BMW.
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
The current lease rate for returning owners is .0017, however who knows what it will be next October! Residuals are 60% for 3yr/36k miles and 61% for 3yr/30k miles. This is on the 3.0's. Not sure on the 4.8's - probably the same.
  • billmvbillmv Member Posts: 148
Thanks! I have a 2005 4.4, by the way. I'm also wondering what the numbers might be if I wanted to extend my current lease for another 9-12 months. I like the car, and wouldn't mind keeping it for another year. Got any knowledge of what might happen in that case? Do you think BMW would use the residual value they would have used for a 48 month lease back when they did my current lease (which was a 39 month lease rather than a 36, in July 2005)? It seems like the residuals usually drop off pretty drastically when you go from a 36 month deal to a 48 month deal, and the money factors go up quite a bit too, so the numbers maybe pretty bad. I'd probably be better off to just go to a new one.
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
I am not familiar with lease extensions (probably rarely done) but I would suspect that your monthly payment may not be significantly different if you just went with a new lease with minimum down payment. As the car ages, the depreciation increases exponentially, causing the residuals to drop-off sharply.
  • infinitimninfinitimn Member Posts: 146
In my experience BMWFS does not have a problem if you want to keep your vehicle two months longer, or more that that if you are waiting for a new BMW and have a VIN or order number. Anything else and you would have to negotiate a new lease on your old vehicle, and as vat69 says you will probably be better off with a new vehicle.

    2007 X5 4.8 - MSRP $62,320
Lease 3yr./36 mo.; no money down
    $910/mo.
Although, it is not necessary for purposes of my question, but just FYI - I was told this includes dealer payment of TT&L (approx. $4K) and $3000 dealer cash toward my lease.

    Any comments are much appreciated.
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
Just this week I was offered a 2007 4.8 with MSRP of $62,925 for $815 inclusive of CA tax of 8.75% with $1,200 at drive off....so not a very good deal.
  • bee2004bee2004 Member Posts: 4
Thanks. I assume your lease was a 36 month / 36K mi. lease as well. I know my lease payment was calculated on a .0027 MF, so I wonder how you got your payment so low with no down payment or security deposit. Lower cap costs? Lower MF? Just curious to know where I am loosing on my battle.
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
Hi, I wasn't interested in the 4.8 so did not dig into the details. I do know that the lease rates for 2007's were .0023 and probably even less now with the owner loyalty in place. Also they are knocking off a good chunk on the MSRP. The only reason you should go for a 2007 is if your monthly payment would be less than for the 2008's. With the lease rate reduction in the 2008's the gap has narrowed significantly.

I would like to lease an X5 3.0 with:
Premium package, Tech package, rear climate package, comfort access, auto trunk gate, and satellite radio
    MSRP 55,020

What is the current MF and residual for 36/12,000? Are we eligible for the past owner discounts if we sold a 3 series in August?

A local dealer offered me $841+tax based on:
selling price of $52,800 with 2600 upfront (says includes 1st, security, and $850 inception), based on MF .00310 and 60 residual

Is this a good deal and if not where should I be around?
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
Your getting ripped off. The MF is .0027 and for returning customers it is .0017. W/ the higher MF the monthly s/b around $780 plus tax. With the reduced MF around 700 plus tax
  • slojoslojo Member Posts: 6
Thanks, I figured as this was their initial offer. Do I qualify for the returning customer rate if I don't currently own a BMW (sold it in August)?
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
I was told by the Dealer that as long as you owned one within six months you would qualify.
  • izmirianizmirian Member Posts: 49
    Hey guys,

So MF for 08 x5 is .0027 and if you qualify for loyalty program it goes down to .0017. How about 07 X5s? I've read that it's .0023 and does the loyalty program work for 07s as well? So would it go down to .0013? Is .0023 right? Can somebody help me out. I'm planning to lease one this wednesday. :confuse:
  • chrisjurchrisjur Member Posts: 12
No, the OLP only applies to 2008 models, not 2007. Regardless of the situation, the money factor is never going to go down to .0013. If you're going for an '07, the only way to lower your payment is to negotiate down your net cap cost.
  • izmirianizmirian Member Posts: 49
Thanks a lot chrisjur. Do you happen to know the residuals for 07 models?
  • pursuitpursuit Member Posts: 5
I was told by the dealer the current loyalty program for the X5 for returning customers ends on 1/2/08. Is this true or is it running for a longer period of time. What is the residule for 3yr/45000 miles
  • chrisjurchrisjur Member Posts: 12
Not sure what the residual is for the 07 models.

    Residuals for a 3yr/35K lease on a 2008 3.0 is currently 58%.

And pursuit, yes, the current owner loyalty program ends on Jan 2. Nobody has any idea whether they will extend it. If they tip their hap too early, they'll lose out on last minute sales in December, so I suspect no one will know until Jan 3rd ;)
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
The residual on a 3yr/36k lease is not 58% but 60%.
  • chrisjurchrisjur Member Posts: 12
Apologies, that was a typo and I didn't even answer the question that was asked...

The residual for a 36 month/*45K* mile lease is 58% - there is no such thing as a 35K/year lease (duh).
  • chrisjurchrisjur Member Posts: 12
And just to further clarify, the 2008 rates (non-owner loyalty program) are:

    2008 BMW X5 3.0si 4WD SUV
    24 Month – Residual 68% of MSRP – .00275 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00275 Base Rate
    48 Month – Residual 44% of MSRP – .00310 Base Rate
    60 Month – Residual 36% of MSRP – .00310 Base Rate

    2008 BMW X5 4.8i 4WD SUV
    24 Month – Residual 68% of MSRP – .00275 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00275 Base Rate
    48 Month – Residual 40% of MSRP – .00310 Base Rate
    60 Month – Residual 33% of MSRP – .00310 Base Rate

These are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k miles per yearr on all terms.
  • rliu818rliu818 Member Posts: 19
This is the best the dealer will offer here in California for a '08 X5 3.0:

    MSRP: $51,225
    10K miles/yr. (our preference)
    $1,969 drive-off
    $678.01/mo. including tax

Note: this is with the reduced MF since I am a returning BMW customer.

Do you guys think I can do significantly better or am I just fighting for pennies at this point?
  • vat69vat69 Member Posts: 10
This is exactly the deal I got in the Bay Area and I shopped at 12 Dealers!! My sales tax rate is 8.75, if your's is lower the difference may be 5 bucks at most.
  • knokno Member Posts: 7
This is my deal in So Cal. I think it's a similar deal to yours...figuring about $30 more for each $1000 added MSRP.

    MSRP: 53725
    36 months
    10000 miles per year
    Owner loyalty money factor .00170
    Monthly payment 728
    Drive off 1207

    All,

On December 28th, finally I pulled the trigger on a monaco blue fully loaded 07 X5. Everything started when I decided to get the new infiniti suv ex35 because of it's techy features. I wanted a fully loaded one and price went up to 46K. I said to myself I can easily get a base + tech package bmw x5 and at the end of the day I would be driving a bmw instead of a nissan. I'm a big bmw fan and I have a 325ci in my garage as well. Anyways, 07s had really good deals and very little difference with 08s. So I decide to go with this one. It's much more than what I was aiming for but what the hell. I'll living it up. It's amazing. Here is a full list of features it has on the car.

I leased at invoice minus 2500 lease cash with .0023 mf and threw in 2K to bring my monthly payments to $650. (10k miles) Can't get better than that. I love the car. I went to buffalo, ny for new years eve. On the way back I drove through a snow storm without any problems.

Just wanted to share my experience.

    Hello,

As a new user to the forum and a prospective X5 buyer I would greatly appreciate it if I could get some input as to this deal one dealer is offering us on a 2008 X5 3.0si in the Pittsburgh PA area: The vehicle includes:

    Cold Weather Package
    Premium Package
    Rear Climate Package
    iPod and USB adapter

    MSRP $51,625

    Sell for $49,300

    15K miles per year

    36 Months

    58% Residual

    $0 Down

    Total initial charges are:

    Disposition fee: $350.00
    Security Deposit: $900.00
    Acquisition Fee: $625.00
    Fees and Insurance: $158.50
    Upfront Taxes: $62.50

    Total Initial Charges: $2599.85

    Base Payment: $776.23
    Total Payment: $853.85 per month

This vehicle is on their lot, so there isn’t a dealer trade situation or custom order issue. The MSRP reduction seemed a little low to me and the initial fees don’t look right to me, although I will have no problem paying for them if they are legitimate fees. Any comments would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi pursuit. What you were told appears to be correct. I do not believe that BMW is providing a special money factor reduction on the 2008 X5 for returning lessees this month. BMW Financial Services' January buy rate lease money factor and residual value for 36 month lease of a 2008 X5 3.0si with 15,000 miles per year are .00270 and 58%, respectively. Non-returning BMW FS customers who want to have their security deposit waived will have to pay .00015 more than this.

Welcome ostexo. Let's take a look at the deal that you were offered. The dealer invoice price of the 2008 X5 that you described is $47,515. The selling price that you were offered is $1,785 over invoice. That isn't bad, but there's still some room there. It wouldn't hurt to comparison shop if there is another BMW dealer or two in your area to see if you can beat this offer. Also, make sure to stop by the "BMW X5 Prices Paid and Buying Experience" discussion to see how much other community members have paid for similar trucks lately.

Once you arrive at a selling price that you are comfortable with, have the dealer that gives it to you calculate your monthly payment using BMW Financial Services' buy rate lease money factor of .00270 (for non-returning customers who pay a security deposit at lease signing) and you're in business.

The fees that you mentioned in your post look about right to me.

I am working on leasing an X5 3.0 ( 36 months, 12K miles) from a dealership in Houston. One dealership came 1K off MSRP and the other 1500 off MSRP. I asked the sales person if I would qualify for the BMW loyalty program and he said "since I paid cash for my 04 545 and didn't finance then I would not quality. This does not make since to me. Is this true? They are right in line for residual values but the money factor they are using is .0033 for one dealer and .00325 for the other dealer. Why are they using these since I see in your forum that the going rate is .0025? One of the dealers said that the .0025 rate was not all inclusive. Does this make sense? I have time to wait for a better deal later in the year. I know there is room in their price but I am confused by the money factor being out of line.

Appreciate all the info in this forum.

Here's the best I've been able to do in the Dallas area so far. I feel like there is room in the purchase price and haven't been able to get any reduction in the money factor (or acquisition fee) to this point. Any advice would be appreciated as I'd like to order the car this week!

    MSRP: $57,575
    Price Reduction: $2,000
    Purchase Price: $55,575
    Acquisition Fee: $850
    Money Factor: .00325

I have started exploring market since my lease is up in less than 2 month.
    X5 and Q7 are the SUV's I'm interested in.

Apparently there are currently no deals for either.
Stock of 2008 X5 3.0 models is low (at least on few east coast dealerships) and dealers are not offered any incentives.
There is excellent rebate in the amount of $3K for 2007 models, however there are basically no 2007 3.0 left and only few 4.8. I realize it's the winter time when SUV probably sold better than any other time of the year. What are the predictions, should we see any promotion towards the end of the January or February?

Any thoughts, comments ideas are welcomed.
I will keep waiting in the meanwile - hate to pay top $ for the empty X5
  • brentslubrentslu Member Posts: 5
Keep looking for that 07. I came across a new 07 X5 4.8 in Dallas this week.

    MSRP - 72,325
    Invoice 66,295
Purchase Price 63, 095 (this includes the 3K cash back)

    Lease Factor .0275
    32 month lease (Residual 64%)
    10K mileage allowance
$790 per month lease plus tax, title, lic., acquistion fee and first months payment.
    No security deposit

I did not negotiate b/c I thought this was a great deal. Although I did get him to throw in Satelite Radio b/c his original add said the car had it, and actually it didn't. Dealership told me that the had a great December and were told that they were not getting many X5 deliveries in January. Supply is low across the country.

Great deal Brentslu. Enjoy your ride. I went for an 07 as well. Love the car love the deal.

Hey, I am looking to turn in my X5 next month but do not want to stay with same dealer in NJ (Defeo) as they will not give me a good deal! So am currentlly looking. What is the MF and residual on this vehicle? I was told that it was 58% and .00270 - is this accurate?

Are there any dealers in the NY metro area giving any incentives since it is nearly end of month?

Are the internet specials on their web pages any good, except for the fact that they only offer 10k (I need 15K) & can I negotiate their advertised numbers or just start from scratch?

    Thanks

voldermort - The money factor and residual that you were quoted are accurate and represent a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. BMW leases typically change on a month-to-month basis. Feel free to post a new thread to this forum or shoot me an email next month for some more insight. There are definitely deals to be had in the Tri-State area.

I am in the market for a 3.0 X5. I would like a 3 year lease with 36,000 miles. I live in the Chicago area. How do I begin the negotiation. What should I be considering? What money factors and residuals should I be expecting or try to negotiate for? JAS

I have a dealer in Manhattan that is giving me the "selling price" of $52,225/( with options of comfort access, premium package, cold weather package, rear climate). the 58% residual and 0.00270 MF.(my lease on my x5 ends next month). Total of 750.25 monthly. I told him that I wld pay 625 up front with taxes. MV fee, and 1st mth pymt. He quoted this as having to pay out of pocket $4006.17. BTW he said that in all his "upteenth" years working he has never heard of anyone paying the bank fee upfront! Is this a sound deal? AND he said there is no previous owner loyalty MF on this. AND he did not use the refundable monies that will be coming back to me from BMWFS as 'security deposits". IS THIS A GREAT DEAL? He said this was $1000.00 over invoice.

Yet - he sold me the X5 (36 months ago) that I have right now at $750 over invoice - and now the numbers are so high and different. I have the same options with the exception of the comfort access & pay right now $559 monthly!!!! WHY IS THAT

Here's another question - how would I know if the money factor and residuals are going to change for February expecially since the rates are down now 'cause of news of 'recession'?????

    Please let me know asap.
    Thanks
  • eights38eights38 Member Posts: 145
voldermort - In my experience, most people pay their first month's payment, security deposit (if required), bank fee, doc fees, and other state fees up front. Taxes are typically included in the monthly payment, but it is not uncommon to pay taxes up front.

Are you dealing with BMW of Manhattan?

There is no way of telling the direction of residuals and money factors month-to-month. A rule of thumb is residuals decline during the course of the year as a new car becomes old.

If you need more help, please feel free to email me or reply.

Just starting to research leasing an X5 with only the cold weather option...making the MSRP of the car around $47,500...anyone have any lease deals to share? I am currently leasing a BMW....

    thanks so much! :)
  • voldermortvoldermort Member Posts: 67
Yes, I am dealing with BMW of Manhattan. So what I understand you to say is that I should only pay 1st month ($750.25) bank fee ($625) doc & state fees ($250) and that's it? Roll the taxes into the lease?

I am trying to keep the payments about equal to what I am paying now (mid 5's), and for some reason it just doesn't match up.

Also, I have a $600 refundable security deposit coming back, can I roll that back in so that I get a lower MF?

Does anyone know any of the above answers?

How about the Owner Loyalty MF for the X5?

Also, you did not tell me if I was getting a good deal from previous thread.

    Thanks!

So do you think I am getting a great deal?
  • voldermortvoldermort Member Posts: 67
I am trying to get a good deal too on the X5. :(

Maybe we should do it together to get a really good deal from a willing, ready and able Manager from a good dealership!! :D

Two for the price of 1/1/2 lol :shades:

    Voldermort....

Do you live in NJ or NY? I'm not sure how it works if you live in NJ and purchase in NY State, but you may have the option to either pay the tax as part of the monthly payment or pay it all up front. For my last NJ-purchased lease, signed 34 months ago, I pay the taxes as part of the payment. For the car I just ordered last week, the taxes were due up front. Ask the dealer as to what the flexibility is and, if you buy from BMW of Manhattan, remind him if you are a NJ resident (residency may make a difference, not where you buy it...I'm not sure about this).

Up front, you will typically need to pay 1st month, bank fee, any type of acquisition fee, document fees, and any applicable taxes (as mentioned above).

I'm not sure what your deal was on your existing X5, but let me tell you that it will be incredibly difficult to get the payments into the mid 500's per month, even with an owner loyalty money factor, unless you drop a large cap cost reduction up front.

Speaking of owner loyalty, per your question, there is no Owner Loyalty available on the X5 this month. The last BMW OLP for the X5 expired on January 2. You would have had to put in a credit app before then and take deliver of the car within 90 days to secure the OLP money factor and other benefits.

Refer to the deal that I posted here: chrisjur, "BMW X5 Prices Paid and Buying Experience" #776, 22 Dec 2007 9:24 am
which is about average for what I got from most dealers in the NYC area last month. (I found a deal a tiny bit cheaper, but not enough to make me jump dealers)

frugalsc - The following lease rates are based on top tier credit and 10,000 miles per year. You should be able to do better on an X5 lease in northern NJ. If you need some more help, please feel free to email me or reply.

    2008 BMW X5 3.0si 4WD SUV
    24 Month – Residual 71% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 61% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate
