Seems like a great price. Looking at Edmunds invoice that's about $1100 below invoice before the $3500 in incentives. Solid!

    Options:

    24 month/ 10,000 miles

    MSRP $40,625
    Sales Price: $37,000
    Acquisition cost: $700
    Total Gross Cap Cost: $37,700
    MF: .00021

    Tax: 8%
    Payment $376.34 including tax
Total OTD: $860.68 including 1st month payment, title, license, & government fee of $8.75

I also called another dealership to see if they had any with the sport package and they matched most of this offer for an AWD with same options for $382 payment, $832 drive off, but won't give any more specific details. Not interested in AWD, so I didn't care, but thought others on here might so I'm posting it anyway.

Backing into his numbers with the listed options shows he got a 73% residual on a $40,810 MSRP. I believe the August buy rate MF is 0.00021. Can't tell his sale price without knowing the fees and taxes that were also capitalized unfortunately.

The poster before you got a sale price of $37K on the same car minus the splash guards ($185 option), so there should be some room to go down on your sale price. Target $37K or less.

Instead of applying the rebate towards cap reduction, make two security deposits to drop the MF to 0.00001, which is essentially no interest. That drops your monthly rent from $14 to less than $1 per month. Of course, that does mean that you will have a small drive off to pay, but you get back $800 at the end of your lease, which should be less than your actual drive-off, while saving you over $300 in interest over two years.

Also, looks like they're taxing the doc fee, so you might as well capitalize that.

With those small changes, your deal would look like this:

    Cap Cost (sale price): $37,000
    Bank Fee: $700
    Doc Fee: $45
    Total Cap: $37,745
    Cap Reduction: $0
    Net Cap: $37,745
    Residual....72.00% ... 29,383.20
    Total Depreciation: $8,361.80

    Depreciation: $348.41
    Rent: $0.67
    Subtotal: $349.08
    Tax: $31.42 Rate: 0.00001
    Monthly Payment: $380.50

    Drive-off:
    License: ~$360
    Gov fees: $8.75
    First Month: $380.50
    Security Deposit: $800
    Total Drive Off: $1,549.25
    Rebates: ($1,000)
    Cash Due: $549.25

$800 refundable deposit at lease end

Propose this at the end of the month letting them know that you'll sign right away if they agree and see what they say. If this was their opening offer to you, then they should not have a problem dropping the price by a couple hundred.

    hi jkipster,
I wasn't aware of the $1,000 IFS lease rebate and the dealer didn't mention it. I put a deposit on the car but haven't signed the lease agreement yet. Do you think I can still negotiate the lease rebate? The dealer might just say they already factored that in to the price?

I have to pick up the vehicle by end of the month so I'm down to the wire! Your advice is appreciated!
  • jkipsterjkipster Member Posts: 270
They must be applying it as a cap reduction so your true sale price is $36K. That is $500 above invoice. I think most of the recent posted sales have been below invoice. But since you have already paid a deposit I don't know how much leverage you have.

You could say that you knew all along about the rebate and that you just thought that it would offset your drive off of $1,125 and that you would only have a cash due of $125? See what they say to that.

What state are you in???I think you will be able to just the deposit back and or negotiate again, most states let you review the lease for a day and you have not been able to do that
  • carshopper110carshopper110 Member Posts: 6
After some negotiation, below is what dealer offered me. I am in State of Pennsylvannia.

G37 AWD Premium package (does not include navigation)
    24 months, 12,000 miles
Initial payment including first month payment, including tax and everything 2799

    Per month payment 299.99

He has not shared other details like listed price etc. Please let me know, if this is a good deal. If not what should I aim at.

    Thanks and best regards

You can't tell if a lease deal is good or not unless you have the selling price. Not the list (MSRP), the actual selling price.

I can tell you that putting down $2800 on a lease is a real bad idea. The interest rates are near zero on Infiniti leases right now, roll everything into the lease and drive off with as close to zero as possible

Thanks Kingpcgeek. I will ask the dealer to revise the offer by bringing down the down to first month payment.

    G37, AWD, premium package

    MSMRP- 37555
    sales price- 34320
    Residual- 27415
    term- 24 months, 12 K miles

Monthly- 294 (dealer reduced further 5 use)
down- 2699 (this includes everything+ plus first month payment). I will talk to dealer on Monday to reduce this to first month payment.

Please advise, if this is looking ok or not.
  • wonderwarthogwonderwarthog Member Posts: 50
If you finance $2K of that drive off, your payment should be about $354. That's an ok deal on this car. I guess the lower residual now is raising the cost enough to offset the lower sales price and interest rate. Make sure the interest rate is correct (check the figures in previous posts), and make him itemize all the fees. You may be paying for some capital reduction.
  • birdlivsbirdlivs Member Posts: 18
    Dear jkipster,

I am looking to structure a deal just like your suggestion to mrbaseball using the rebates as multiple security dep. I actually sent an offer exactly like it for the same car (msrp $40, 810) at $36k sell price and was mostly accepted by the dealer. I went for a test drive and the car was great except not in a color combo I can live with. The new option is a 2wd Journey/prem/nav/wheel/trim package. MSRP is $39,760. Can you help structure a deal like the above for presentation to the dealer. I'm thinking of a sell price of around $35k. Thanks for your help as I need to pull the trigger ASAP.

after looking at this, i think i can do better, but we already put a deposit down.

    MSRP = $37,555

    sell price = ???
    Residual = $ 27,415.15

    Out of pocket
    first month = 367.98
    Cap reduction = 440.00
    up-front tax = $44.42
    + plates $200
    Out of pocket = $1149.50

    Monthly = $367.98 tax included NY (8.875%)
    24/12K

where can i do better? dealer said I couldn't get the $1,000 rebate because i do not have a current infiniti
  • jkipsterjkipster Member Posts: 270
Have you driven this other combo? I will say that the sport handles way better but you feel the bumps a bit more. Make sure you know the difference in the ride and would be happy with it.

It should have the same MF and residual so you would only need to figure out your new target price. If the dealer was willing to go down to $36K on the G37S, then apply roughly the same discount to this other trim ($35,100?). It's more art than science I think. If he's still got a lot of 2013s on the lot, then you could try to be more aggressive.

The residual on this should be $28,627.20. Adding bank fee and doc fee to the sale price gets you a net cap cost around $35,800, putting total depreciation at $7173. That makes your payment before tax ($7173 / 24 = $298.88) and including 2 security deposits at just under $300 per month. Add your tax rate on top of that. Your deposit amount would be 2x $350 = $700. The rest should be like the other deal. Use the rebate against TTL, gov fees and MSDs with a small cash due. No cap reduction!

Good luck and let us know your final deal. Post all the details once you've signed.

Thanks...I haven't driven the non sport, but guess I should based on your suggestion. Never the less, based on you recommendation, this is what I am going to propose on this package. What are your thoughts?

Premium Package, Navigation Package, VIN JN1CV6Axxx
    Msrp: $39,760

Instead of applying the rebate towards cap reduction, I’ll make two security deposits to drop the MF to 0.00001.

    24 mo/12K lease
    Cap Cost (sale price): $34,988.00
    Bank Fee: $700

    Cap Reduction: $0
    Net Cap: $35,728.00

    Depreciation: $7,100.80
    Rent: $15.45
MF Rate: 0.00001 (after multiple Sec Deposit)
    Base Monthly Payment: $296.51
    Sale Tax: $24.46
    Monthly Payment: $320.97

    Drive-off:
    License: ~$360
    Gov fees: $8.75
    First Month: $320.97
    Security Deposit: $700
    Total Drive Off: ~$1,389.72

$700 refundable deposit at lease end

    Hey everyone.

I was wondering if someone could answer a quick question for me. The lowest sales price I've received on a a G37 Sedan 7A with Sport, Prem, Nav is $37000. I'm trying to lease at 36 months @ 12,000 miles a year.

My biggest question is, how many security deposits does Infiniti allow for, and how much does each reduce the money factor? As of now, the MF on the vehicle is .00077.

I also can't seem to get anyone to budge below the $37K mark as I don't qualify for any of the incentives (purchase or returning buyer). Does anyone know or how quickly do people know about the September incentives?

Thanks for all of your help! A service like this is amazing, I'm glad people are doing their research and not handing over free cash to dealers.

Fantastic, thank you. So I'm assuming I can't go to zero, so 7 deposits to get it to .0001? This I'm assuming is advisable if you have the cash handy?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 236,681
That's right... you can't go to zero...

When I leased mine, a couple of years ago, the MF was .00091, and I used 9 deposits to take it to .00001

Since your base is .00077, after 7 deposits, you'll be at .00007 (which is still basically zero..)

wow, 35K is a nice price in my eyes Carshopper110. I can't get below 37 on a non X sport model, so I think the MSRP's are pretty similar.

KhrisCota, I'm in CA. Why do you ask?

So I kept on 3 different dealers and ended up going for the G37 Sport/Prem/Nav/Cargo trunk package. Since I'm not a returning IFS lessor, I couldn't use the rebate so I decide not to put down the extra security deposit.

I'm in the SF Bay Area. The dealer most open to good deals is Infiniti of San Francisco. The other Bay Area dealers were not working with me at the deal I needed.
  • birdlivsbirdlivs Member Posts: 18
jkipster, I'd like to thank you for recommending that I drive the non sport G37 to compare to the sport. A world of difference. In fact, I think a car with all that horsepower without the sports package would be down right dangerous. You just feel so much more in control with all the upgrades to the suspension. Thanks for the help on the deal!
  • wonderwarthogwonderwarthog Member Posts: 50
This is the same car that I leased from the same dealer. It was funny that I didn't consider Infiniti of SF during almost a year of searching because their selection and prices weren't that good, but they started offering this sport premium with nav thrown in for free. My selling price in June was in the low 36,000 area, but since the residual was higher then, my car was $343 including tax with $1500 drive off. Not sure about your total on fees, but if your drive off was about $500-800, the deals would be comparable. I would think you should be able to do better now. Work on them over that selling price.
  • jkipsterjkipster Member Posts: 270
You're welcome birdlivs. I'm glad that my recommendation helped you make an informed choice.

I went from a G37S to a G3xS recently and know that the different suspensions make a big difference in the ride. I loved the G37S but my wife thought the ride felt harsh as a passenger. Since I never got to do much spirited driving in it alone anyways, it wasn't a big deal, and city driving is more comfortable in the new car.

Hope you're enjoying that new car. Taking those turns aggressively should put a good smile on your face.

Unfortunately dealer does not have the nav with premium and asked me to wait for 2 weeks. He has one with premium, awd (non sport, no nav)

    msmrp= 38310=00
    sales price= 34389=00
    residual= 27966

down= 1597 (this includes 3 months deposit and first month payment)

    Money factor= 0.00001

    monthly payment 319

This is negotiated price. I thanks all of you with your patience with me. I am new to this and greatly appreciate advice from you folks. I am not very particular about Nav so if this a good deal, I am willing to go for it.

Carshopper, your sales price is way too high. I have multiple offers on a vehicle loaded with Sport, Nav and Premium for $37K without any incentives. Assuming you don't qualify for any incentives, I think the most you should pay for that vehicle is 33K.

My math is 37K - Nav and Sport (roughly $4K) to $33K. Hope that helps. Plus, if you want those options, try another dealer even if you need to travel.

    Tax
    License Fee
    1st month lease

No one can answer that without more information. Look in the lease docs that you signed and provide at least the following:

    MSRP
    Residual
    Invoice
    Money Factor (interest rate)
    Doc and other dealership fees
Tax rate in the $316 payment.

The base 2013 G37 coupe with Prem/Nav has a $46,405. With your drive off, it looks like there was a hefty dealer/doc fee built in unless you're in a state that taxes the entire cost of the vehicle up front.

Here's a deal we just completed with a fico score far below average. I don't know the selling price res, or mf and didn't care as long as the final $ numbers are within the range of the deals people are getting. There was no loyalty rebate as this was the first Infiniti. I was shooting for zero security deposits, under $1k at signing and under $375/month including all fees and sales tax. This is a challenge with a less than desirable fico score. I think it was a good deal considering the credit score and about $3,000 of extras on top of the regular Premium+Nav car.

    G37x Sedan
    Premium
    Nav
    18" Wheels
    Illuminated Kick plates
    Wood grain trim
    Mudflaps
    Trunk Mat, Net, First Aid

    10K/24mos
$1150 total drive off including new plates and $399 first month's payment, $399/month including 8.875% nyc taxes

Looks like your car also had kick plates, splash guards and trunk net for a total MSRP of $47,155, with an invoice price per Edmunds of $43,654. That puts your residual at 67%, and your money factor at 0.00017, which seems low enough to suggest that it is the buy rate MF.

You must have capped a doc fee of $80. Your drive offs then would be:
    Cap reduction: $1999
    Tax on cap reduction: $159.92
    Bank fee: $700
    TTL & Gov fees: $449.08
    1st Month: $316

These all seem fair for SoCal so it doesn't look like they played around with the calculations to add additional profit. The question then is how good was your sale price? Post #7886 is your best comparison. They got the same car at ~$800 below invoice before $3,500 in incentives. I don't know what incentives there are currently and what you qualify for, but your price is a total $3400 below invoice. Looks like you may have had a little more room to negotiate, but I wouldn't say that you got ripped off.

Next time, maybe get some competing quotes to get a sense of pricing in your market? Also, don't pay a cap reduction.

But you got yourself a fine ride so enjoy it.
