Again thank you. I now have the specifics.

    The MSRP is 37140
    The cap cost is 25290
    The money factor is .0028
    The residual is 40%
    The term is 39 months

If you add the 9000 in incentives back to the cap cost you come up with $34,290 which I believe is below invoice by about $170. So using your guideline of $100-$200 over invoice, this should be a very good deal, correct? Do you think the rate/residual is off?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 32,933
Yes, $170 off invoice is good. They are definitely treating you right on this deal.

Now, leasecompare gives a bit of a lower rate at .00256, BUT that comes with a 36% residual. So as long as your fees are reasonable, it sounds like a very fair deal. Congrats!

    Hey Firefighter,
would you tell me where you got your car from?
I would love to take an advantage of that crazy deal too...
If you don't want to publicize it here, email me please.

    Thanks! :)

Congratulations on a great deal 28FireFighter. What was the money factor and residual? Does the 2007 S60-S require premium gasoline or is it merely recommended?
  • tclantontclanton Member Posts: 15
This appears more like $3200 below Invoice! I can't seem to get any of my local dealers to go any below Invoice. Were you able to use a loyalty incentive? I would love to duplicate your deal but I have not had much luck. Any pointers would be appreciated. Didn't you also get the $2000 end of lease wear and tear and over-mileage stipend for making all payments on time? This is the best lease I've seen in a long time.
  • pcc2pcc2 Member Posts: 7
I don't believe that lease deal.....to good to be true.

Something is wrong...most likely someone is not representing a deal correctly.

I hope this board is not headed in that direction.
  • 28firefighter28firefighter Member Posts: 9,385
If you don't believe the lease deal, thats up to you...you aren't hurting my feelings.

I don't have the money factor and residual information right on me at the moment, but the residual came in at somewhere around $17k at the end of 36 months.

As far as publicizing the dealer, he has asked me not to (he does read these boards)....but did ask me to inform you that he has no more R's in stock.

Did yoy use the Volvo loyalty rebate against the MSRP?

Did they throw in the $2000 end of lease wear and tear - over-mileage bonus?

Can you use regular gasoline in the S80-S?

If this deal is indeed true then you got the deal of the century. I think folks (incl. me) want to understand your entire deal to assist them (me) in negotiating their (my) next purchase. What were all the terms and what special rebates were thrown in. Also, is this dealer a relative or close friend meaning did your purchase represent a true arms length transaction?
  • 28firefighter28firefighter Member Posts: 9,385
The incentives that were included in the price were the $11,000 in volvo lease incentives that were included for leasing through an independent bank. The $2000 excess/wear and tear coverage is just a thing from this particular bank. There was no Volvo Loyalty rebate or anything like that.

Here are the terms of the deal as I can remember them off the top of my head (as I am out of town and don't have the paperwork on me)...the lease-sale price before the leasing incentive was about $1000 under invoice pricing (invoice was somewhere around $41,500...volvo bluetooth was a feature that was dealer installed so its not included in the invoice price but is included in the MSRP). Then they took the $11,000 leasing incentive that was around when I leased, and that is where the cap cost came from.

The terms are 36months/12k miles a year. What I think is throwing everyone off is the fact that I got a significant amount off invoice...mainly because the dealer had been sitting with this car and wanted to move it. It was a true arms length deal..I called them and did the deal right over the phone.

And to answer your question about fuel...the S60R must get premium to run at its best.

gbrozen...do you happen to know if the incentives apply to purchases as well...or is it just for leasing. We can get an extremely low finance rate for a 5+ year loan, so I'm wondering if it's better to possibly lease to take advantage of the incentives and then buy at the end with the low residual, or just buy it outright if the incentives apply to purchases.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 32,933
the current lease incentives are MUCH larger on leases, so it pays to lease now and buy later.

Hi Car_Man, thanks for all your help on this board. I have been getting a few quotes on the S60 2.5T and before I make a decision, want to be sure they are quoting me correctly. Could you tell me what the residual and money factor is for a 36/48 month lease on this car. They have given me a MSRP of $35,820 and total cap cost reduction of $24,434. They said the MF and Res for a 48 mo. 15K lease is .00243 and 30% ($10,746). Would be more interested in a 36 month lease however. They also quoted doc fee $489, license $69 and acq fee of $795. They came up with $477/mo, which I can't seem to calculate and besides, seems high to me. Please help!!! Thanks!!
  • sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 452
The doc fee definitely seems a bit high...but then again your registration is pretty low (at least compared to California where we just paid $210 for an S40). We got a $45 doc fee though. As for the acq. fee, the standard I believe is $595, however, because they are using an outside bank for the financing, some banks charge as high as $795...which might be offst by the financing incentives.
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
M/F looks good and residual for your term. 36 month should be a lower payment though. about 358 before tax with $3k in drive off.
  • 0017tristan0017tristan Member Posts: 3
I received the following quote on a Passion Red '07 S60R AWD in Texas.

    MSRP:$43,330
    Cap Cost: $29,440
    Residual: $17,332 (40%)

My monthly payment equals $469.04 a month for 36 months with 12k miles a year.

Additionally, I only owe first month's payment at signing.

I think it's a good deal, any feedback?

    Hi All!!!

Last i checked, the S60R had a lease incentive of $11,500 with outside financing. Is it still going on and how long will it last?

    Thanks for all inputs.
    Tony
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
Nope sorry its only $5,000 now and $8,000 on V70 R's
  • 28firefighter28firefighter Member Posts: 9,385
The incentives have dropped, and that is even assuming you can find one. Those incentives cleared them out pretty well!

There is plenty of s60R's around at dealers and port has 4 s60R's and 2 V70R's
  • atran38atran38 Member Posts: 9
the lease incentive is now the same as purchase incentive, at $5k???

I've seen some S60Rs around locally and am ready to make the plunge but with that incentive, i may have to think of other alternatives.

    Thanks for the response!
    Tony
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
Yes it is the same as a purchase. The only R that has additional incentives now is the V70R.

Hi yolanda4510. You really need to find out this car's MSRP and selling price. These numbers are the best way to evaluate how good a deal you are getting. I would be happy to give you my opinion of this lease if you provide me with them.

Hi pbs0626. Here's the info that you're looking for. Volvo Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2008 Volvo S60 2.5T with 15,000 miles per year are .00194 and 50%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 48 month lease are .00249 and 43%. You can use these numbers and the formula that is outlined in the following formula to calculate lease payments on the cars that you are interested in: Calculate Your Own Lease Payment.

    There are no 08 S60R's.
    There is no VFNA program
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
Yup 2007's. No more 2008's. You can go through any bank. Volvo still has 1 VCF program for the V70R but you lose $3,100 in cash. :shades:

Any news on S60 2.5T 4th quarter rebates? I have a dealer that tells me that they have $4500 rebate and they have not heard about any other rebates. They are taking $4500 off invoice. Does anyone know about additional $$$'s before I buy a car this weekend. Thanks in advance.
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
you must be talking about an 2007. They are going to take the cash away after this is my guess. and yes $4,500 is all they got. Heres an inside tip for you though. The new 2008 S60 2.5T's ($5k lease alt. cash and $750 retail) are a lot less money due to the fact that they are out of transmissions for them so they have to push the T5's which you can now get for the price of a 2.5T with premium and conveince. nice touch huh? The word is there will be no more 2.5T's in 2009 the last year of that S60 before they redesign it. Also 09 is the last year of the S40 all together??? Im also hearing that. :confuse:
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
08 is the last year for the S60.
The tranny issue is being addressed, you should see normal allocations after the first of the year.

S40 will go away, but not until the new S60 debuts, which is in 2010.
  • theresa11theresa11 Member Posts: 58
Ok, now here's my question. Is purchasing a 2007 S60 2.5T not a good move? What's the deal re: the tranny? Are there issues w/the tranny or are they phasing them out? And if so, why? I have an offer for 26K for a 2007 S60 2.5T w/premium and metallic paint. Any help is appreciated. Going to dealer tomorrow.

I have an offer for a 2007 S60 2.5T w/premium and metallic paint. Is this a good deal? What's the deal re: the tranny? Is there a problem w/the tranny? Would I be better off w/a 2008? Going to dealer tomorrow. Any help, thanks! Love my Volvo, but want to make the right move.
  • kgukgu Member Posts: 4
Check the Volvo "S60 Price Paid" group. They usually paid 28.5~30K (before TTL) for similar cars. I think (invoice - 4.5K) is a good price.

There used to be a 4.5K leasing incentive. But it is expired I think.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Just a supplier issue w/ the tranny.
For whatever reason, Aisin-Warner ran short on the automatic tranny.
Unless you are buying a loaner car, $26,000 won't get you an 07 S60 with those options.
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
The problem with the tranny supplier is there was a sudden demand worldwide for v70 2.5T's before the new body style came out and aisin-warner put all there efforts into keeping up with the V70 demand causing a shortage.
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
So if this is the last year of the S60 and the new one doesnt come out until 2010. We are going to be left with no S60's to sell for 2009? Thats not smart, S60 is a good seller.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Yup.
Hopefully, we'll be selling lots of XC60's :D

    Newly Minted Deal:
    2800 Cash
    S60 2008 2.5Turbo AWD
Blue (the light blue); Tan Interior
    Premium Package
    Lease 400 per month
Buy out 17550 after 36 month Lease

We looked, drove and priced pre-owned S60s, both 04 (23K miles for 23K) and an 05 and decided that the deal listed above was the best value. The dealer said we could only choose between the light blue (tan interior) or the maple (black interior). We chose the light blue (tan interior with grey and brown trim). I think it is a standard type of color and trim not sure.

We signed this evening (Saturday night). My question is, "Did we secure a fair if not a better than fair deal?" My only concern after the fact is whether or not we could have leased a dark blue with black interior for same lease price (from another dealership).

    Thoughts?

Thanks for input. Oops...I meant $28K is offer for new 2007 S60 2.5T w/premium, wood wheel and metallic. Is this a good price or could I do better? Since S60 may be disappearing, is it a good idea to purchase one before they are phased out? Is it a bad choice because of this?

I was at local dealer on Saturday to test drive / negotiate for the lease on a 2008 S-60. MSRP with premium package, advanced package was $35,730. Looking at 36 month, 12,000 miles lease. No cash out of pocket except for acquisition cost, 1st payment, license, etc. Price offered wasn't locked down, but monthly payment came back at $568. Per salesperson, money factor was .00200 or 4.8% which seems ok, but the quoted residual was only 43%. I had an S-60 back in 2001 and I thought the residual was about 10% higher. Can anyone confirm the residual numbers for a new S-60? Any info on why so low? :confuse:
  • jcb123jcb123 Member Posts: 18
From reading the last 2-3 pages of posts, it seems as if my 43% residual quote for a 2008 S-60 2.5T is low. I thought I saw a 50% number in an earlier response with a 15,000 mile, 3-year deal?

Also, any thoughts on the 2.5T vs the T5 ? At first my salesperson said there were no T5s for 2008 but they were on the lot and in his catalog?
  • lease2008lease2008 Member Posts: 6
is my post number 499 in the wrong place?
  • johnnyvolvo07johnnyvolvo07 Member Posts: 29
Yes residulas dropped if you are looking at 2007's. They are infact T5's available for 2008.
